What this page shows
Everything below is an owner-reported complaint submitted to NHTSA about the 2007 Toyota Tundra, grouped by the component NHTSA recorded on the report. These are not confirmed defects, and they are not recalls. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a category with more reports in it is not evidence that a part is defective.
Complaints are reports submitted by owners and drivers to NHTSA. They are not verified and do not establish that a defect exists.

What the reports in each category say, in the owners' own words
Driver assistance
Reports naming forward-collision avoidance, lane keeping, back-over prevention, cruise control and related electronic driver-assistance systems.
From owner reports, verbatim
Check engine light came on suddenly and acceleration slowed… truck will no longer go over 30 mph. Replaced radiator, driver air injection module, and regularly changed oil. no check engine light now the injection module was replaced but truck still will not go over 30 mph or 1800-2000 rpm’s.
The contact owns a 2007 Toyota Tundra. The contact initially received a recall notice for NHTSA Campaign Number: 09V388000(Vehicle Speed Control); the vehicle was taken to the dealer and the recall was serviced. Recently, the contact stated that as his wife was exiting their driveway, the vehicle independently accelerated without warning. The contact's wife turned the vehicle into her yard where she hit four trees and then crashed into a big tree which stopped the vehicle. The air bags deployed once she crashed into the bigger tree. The contact's wife was thrown to the right and hit her head on the rearview mirror. His wife was taken to the hospital by ambulance where she was treated for the head wound and back pain. She later sought treatment from an orthopedic doctor where they discovered three compressed fractures to her vertebrae(T1, T2, and T3). A police report was filed. The contact did his own investigation into the accident and discovered that black box had recorded that the vehicle's speed was 42.3 MPH at the time of the failure. Both the dealer and the manufacturer were notified of the failure but both offered no assistance. The vehicle remained in the contact's possession. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 164,000.
Body & structure
Reports naming the vehicle structure, frame, body panels, doors, hood and trim.
From owner reports, verbatim
The contact owns a 2007 Toyota Tundra. The contact stated while parking the vehicle, there was a loud sound coming from the vehicle. The contact inspected the vehicle and determined that the fuel tank scrap and bolt had fractured and detached. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or the dealer. In addition, the contact stated that when the vehicle was purchased in May 2024, the contact later noticed flaking material on the ground underneath the vehicle. The vehicle was then taken to the dealer, but no assistance was provided. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and a case was filed. In addition, the contact confirmed that in March 2019, the vehicle was serviced under an unknown corrosion prevention recall repair. The contact confirmed that at the time, the dealer performed the recall repair by spraying anti-corrosion prevention on the suspension. The unknown recall repair was warranted for 60 months. The failure mileage was approximately 279,000.
The contact owns a 2007 Toyota Tundra. The contact stated that occasionally while driving at various speeds on bumpy road surfaces, the fuel tank was scraping against the pavement. The contact stated that upon inspection from the outside, the contact became aware that the fuel tank was hanging abnormally low and the bracket holding up the brake lines and fuel lines were completely rusted. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic to be diagnosed, and the contact was informed that due to the abnormal amount of rust on the sub frame, the vehicle was not safe to be driven. The contact was informed that the entire sub frame needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 142,255.
Engine
Reports naming the engine itself — including stalling, misfires, oil consumption, cooling and internal engine components.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 TOYOTA TUNDRA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE MERGING INTO TRAFFIC, THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCED REDUCED POWER AND WAS ONLY ABLE TO DRIVE APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH. THE VEHICLE STABILITY WARNING LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED AND FLASHING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO STATED THAT THE VEHICLE STABILITY CONTROL OR SECONDARY INJECTOR VALVE FAILED. THE CONTACT CALLED SUN TOYOTA (3001 US-19, HOLIDAY, FL 34691, (727) 310-3070) HOWEVER, THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 136,000.

The vehicle did not pass PA state inspection due to broken front shock mounts and severe frame corrosion.
THE FRAME AND TRUCK BED HAVE SEVERE RUST ISSUES. THE TRUCK BED IS SHACKING NOW WHEN DRIVING. THE FRAME WAS "SPRAYED" WHEN I BOUGHT THE CAR TO THE DEALER. I BROUGHT THE CAR TO TOYOTA DEALERSHIP ON WINCHESTER ROAD THEY HAVE NOTICED A LOT OF RUST ON THE FRAME AND ON THE TRUCK BED AND ADVICE ME TO RID OF THE CAR BECAUSE THEY CANNOT DO NOTHING ABOUT IT EVEN TRADE FOR ANOTHER CAR. I HAD THE TRUCK INSPECTED BY MY MECHANIC BEFORE I BOUGHT AND THE CAR SEEMS TO BE OK. LATE ON ANOTHER MECHANIC POINTED OUT SEVERE. TOYOTA DEALERSHIPS INSPECT THE TRUCK AND SAID THAT IT WAS UNSAFE TO DRIVE. I HAVE TO FIGURE OUT HOW MYSEFL HOW TO GET A NEW FRAME AND A NEW TRUCK BED BECAUSE I DO NOT KNOW WHAT TO DO OR WHO TO CONTACT. MY MECHANIC ADVICE ME TO CONTACT NHTSA.

From owner reports, verbatim
All Driveshaft Support Bearings failed and needed replaced.
Intermittent Transmission issue. Truck will not shift into 5th or 6th gear. Temporary fix is turning the car off and on again. Problem will eventually return. Is this a Software or Hardware issue? Is there a campaign or recall on this issue?
Fuel system
Reports naming fuel storage or delivery — tanks, pumps, lines, injectors and fuel leaks.
From owner reports, verbatim
The contact owns a 2007 Toyota Tundra. The contact stated while driving at 45 MPH, the accelerator pedal was depressed, and the vehicle failed to respond. The check engine warning light was illuminated. On a separate occasion, the contact stated that while driving uphill or driving forward, the vehicle lost motive power while depressing the accelerator pedal. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic; however, the vehicle was not diagnosed. The vehicle was then taken to a dealer, where it was diagnosed with air injection pumps and air injection switching valves failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and offered the contact an Extended Warranty. The contact was informed that the dealer would reach out to her; however, when the dealer contacted the contact, the contact was informed that the vehicle was not covered under an Extended Warranty. The failure mileage was approximately 74,268.
I bought a 2007 Toyota Tundra less than 3 months ago from Toyota of Simi Valley. 2 months ago my check engine light and other warning lights suddenly went on while I was driving and my truck went into “limp mode” while merging onto a freeway, causing other drivers to swerve around me to avoid a collision. I took the truck back to Toyota and they advised the Air injection pump and air control valve need to be replaced. Total cost to repair is almost $4,000. I purchased at Bronze level extended warranty which covers up to 24,000 miles but the insurance carrier denied the claim saying these items are excluded, despite these items not being listed on their “excluded items list”. Toyota then offered to pay 1/2 the total cost of repairs, which in of itself is an admission of guilt. I’ve only made 2 payments on the vehicle, I should not be responsible for these repairs. I took the vehicle to an independent mechanic who advised Toyota’s assessment is correct, however, it should only cost $2k to fix the vehicle, not $4k. The mechanic also advised of an emission system issue and that this vehicle will not pass smog at this time.
Brakes
Reports naming service brakes, the antilock braking system, brake hoses, master cylinders or the parking brake.
From owner reports, verbatim
I have been involved in two rear end accidents that i pressed the brake down with no response and ended up in a minor accident going less than 10 miles per hour each time. Also my running lights stop working and have had 4 wheel drive get stuck in that position until i had to look at the book to free it but no longer use it
2007 TOYOTA TUNDRA. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH, THE CHECK ENGINE, ESC, AND VSC WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED AS I WAS ENTERING THE FREEWAY THEN THE VEHICLE STARTED TO LOSE POWER AND WOULD NOT ACCELERATE MORE THAN 60MPH, THE TRUCK WENT INTO A LIMP MODE. I RESET THE ECM BY DISCONNECTING THE BATTERY BUT IT CAME BACK. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 71K. THIS ISSUE IS ALL OVER THE INTERNET AND SHOULD BE COVERED BY EMISSIONS WARRANTY. CALLED THE DEALER AND IT IS NOT COVERED BY FEDERAL EMISSIONS WARRANTY AFTER 10YRS. NOT GOOD!
Electrical
Reports naming the electrical system — wiring, battery, charging, control modules, infotainment and electrical accessories.
From owner reports, verbatim

THE CRACKS RUN LONGITUDINALLY ALONG THE TREAD ON BOTH THE OUTER AND INNER SIDE OF THE TREAD. I HAVE INSPECTED OTHER TOYOTA TUNDRAS WITH THE SAME TIRES THAT ARE ALSO CRACKING. NOW AT 16,000 MILES THE TIRES ARE MAKING A LOUD RUMBLING NOISE AND THE CRACKS ARE GROWING LARGER AND LONGER. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 63,000.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 TOYOTA TUNDRA. WHILE DRIVING 35 MPH THE CONTACT HEARD A POPPING NOISE NEAR THE DRIVE LINE. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A DEALER WHO REPLACED THE TRANSMISSION BEARINGS. THE REPAIR DID NOT REMEDY THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALER WHO STATED THAT THERE WAS NOTHING TO REPAIR. WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE RESPONDED AS IF IT WERE GOING TO SHIFT OUT OF GEAR. THE CONTACT CALLED THE MANUFACTURER AND WAS TOLD THAT THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO IF THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT DOES NOT COME ON. THE CONTACT WAS CONCERNED SINCE THE VEHICLE COULD POTENTIALLY BREAK DOWN. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000.

THE AMPLIFIER FOR THE AC/HEAT CONTROLS BROKE. I NEED IT FIXED AS THE TRUCK IS NOT USABLE IN SOUTHEAST ARIZONA WITHOUT AC. TOYOTA PUT THE AMP IN THIS MODEL BEHIND THE DASH. THIS WAS WRONG AND THEY CHANGED IT FAIRLY QUICKLY. TO REPAIR THIS MODEL REQUIRES AN ADDITIONAL $1,200 OF COST BEYOND THAT OF THE BROKEN PART. I SPOKE WITH TOYOTA AND HAVE A FILE NUMBER. THEY WON'T DO ANYTHING TO HELP WITH THIS COST OR AN ELECTRONIC WORK AROUND. THIS IS A REAL SAFETY ISSUE. THE VEHICLE CAN BE DRIVEN BUT IT IS A DEATH TRAP AND THIS IS CAUSED BY POOR ENGINEERING. ATTACH IS THE REQUEST I SENT TO TOYOTA. *TR

I HAVE BEEN IN CONTACT WITH TOYOTA FROM MY AREA AND THEY KEEP SAYING I HAVE TO BRING IT IN TO HAVE IT CHECKED. I HAVE HAD SEVERAL APPOINTMENTS AND THEY USUALLY CALL AND CANCEL THE APPOINTMENT.
