The defect: COMPRESSOR MOUNT KIT P/N 4012080, MANUFACTURED BETWEEN NOVEMBER 1, 2002, AND MARCH 6, 2003. THE COMPRESSOR IS HELD IN ALIGNMENT OF THE BELT LOOP BY A MANUFACTURED WELDMENT. WELDMENT DOES NOT LINE UP PREFECTLY WITH THE IDLER, CAUSING THE BELT TO MOVE OF "WALK" OFF CENTER.
The risk: THE BELT CAN "WALK" OUT OF ALIGNMENT AND RUB AGAINST THE POWER STEERING LINE.
The remedy: TRANS/AIR HAS NOT PROVIDED THE AGENCY WITH A NOTIFICATION AND REMEDY SCHEDULE YET.

Manufacturer communication
Manufacturers file copies of the bulletins they send to dealers with NHTSA. These often describe diagnostic or repair procedures for a known condition. They are not recalls: repairs described in a bulletin are usually only free if the vehicle is still under warranty or the manufacturer has extended coverage.
