2013 Triumph Daytona 675 Problems

Owner-reported complaints filed with NHTSA, grouped by component

Data refreshed

Owner complaintsComplaints are reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a complaint does not establish that a defect exists. Volume is influenced by how many of a vehicle were sold, how long it has been on the road, and how much attention an issue has received.

What this page shows

Everything below is an owner-reported complaint submitted to NHTSA about the 2013 Triumph Daytona 675, grouped by the component NHTSA recorded on the report. These are not confirmed defects, and they are not recalls. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a category with more reports in it is not evidence that a part is defective.

Complaints are reports submitted by owners and drivers to NHTSA. They are not verified and do not establish that a defect exists.

I WAS DRIVING HOME AND MY ABS LIGHT CAME ON, I LOOKED UP AND MY HEADLIGHT STARTED TO FLASH AND THEN MY TACHOMETER AND SPEEDOMETER FROZE IN PLACE AND DIMMED SIGNIFICANTLY. I KEPT DRIVING SINCE I WAS ON THE HIGHWAY AT NIGHT. ABOUT 5 SECONDS LATER EVERYTHING WENT BACK TO NORMAL THEN ABOUT 15 MINUTES DOWN THE ROAD MY ENTIRE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM TURNED OFF AND BACK ON ABOUT 3 TIMES. AT THIS POINT MY HEAD LIGHTS AND DASHBOARD WERE COMPLETELY TURNING OFF AND ON. WHEN I CAME TO A CONSTRUCTION ZONE AND MY BIKE WAS IN IDLE IT DIED AND WOULD NOT TURN BACK ON. EVERY TIME I TRIED TO TURN IT ON IT WOULD MAKE A LOUD CLICK AND THEN SHUT EVERYTHING OFF. I LOOKED ONLINE AND A LOT OF PEOPLE ARE HAVING THIS PROBLEM WITH OEM VOLTAGE REGULATORS FOR TRIUMPHS. WHEN I WAS IN HIGH REV RANGES (6-9K RPM) IT WOULD RUN PERFECTLY FINE, BUT ONCE I STOPPED ONCE IT KILLED IT AND WOULDN'T COME BACK. NOW, EVEN WITH IT TURNED COMPLETELY OFF THE TACHOMETER READER WILL JUST JUMP UP AND BACK DOWN.

TRANSMISSION STOPS WORKING SPORADICALLY. FIRST TIME IT HAPPENED WAS IN JANUARY 2017, THE GEARBOX STOPPED CHANGING GEARS UP OR DOWN WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY. WENT TO DEALER AND GOT IT FIXED. LATER IN THE SAME YEAR IN OCTOBER 2017 THE GEARBOX STOPPED WORKING ON DOWNSHIFTS, HAD TO DRIVE HOME ALL THE WAY IN 5TH GEAR. DEALER HAS REFUSED TO FIX THE ISSUE. IT IS A KNOW ISSUE AMONG TRIUMPH DAYTONA OWNERS THAT THE TRANSMISSION AND GEARBOX IS VERY FRAGILE AND CAN GIVE OUT ANY TIME. SUDDEN MALFUNCTIONING OF THE TRANSMISSION CAN CAUSE CONFUSION AND FRUSTRATION WHEN DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY CAN CAUSE A DANGEROUS SITUATION. THIS KIND OF CONTINUOUS MALFUNCTIONING SHOULD NOT BE ACCEPTABLE.
