1999 Triumph Daytona 955 Owner Complaints

Reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers, shown in full

Data refreshed

Complaints on fileComplaints are reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a complaint does not establish that a defect exists. Volume is influenced by how many of a vehicle were sold, how long it has been on the road, and how much attention an issue has received.

MY MOTORCYCLE HAS BEEN OUT OF SERVICE FOR MORE THAN A YEAR, AND SPENT THE FIRST 7 MONTHS AT ONE DEALER, WHO GAVE THE MOTORCYCLE BACK TO ME, - THEY COULD NOT FIX IT, I WAS ADVISED THAT EVEN THE FACTORY TECHNICIANS WERE NOT ABLE TO RESOLVE THE PROBLEM. THE PROBLEM IS THAT THE MOTORCYCLE WILL NOT IDLE, AND STALLS AT IDLE. I WAS ABLE TO LOCATE ANOTHER AUTHORIZED DEALER AND PRESENTED THE BIKE TO THIS DEALER - EXPLAINING THE SITUATION. THIS DEALER HAD THE BIKE DELIVERED TO THE MANUFACTURERS DISTRIBUTION CENTER, WHERE I WAS TOLD IT WAS WORKED ON BY FACTORY TECHNICIANS. AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS THE BIKE WAS RETURNED TO ME AND WORKED FOR A COUPLE OF DAYS ? ONLY TO HAVE THE ORIGINAL PROBLEM RETURN ? THE BIKE STALLS AT IDLE. THE BIKE IS A 1999 TRIUMPH DAYTONA 1200 SE ? 4 CYLINDER THERE WERE ONLY 250 OF THIS MODEL MADE AND TRIUMPH HAS ABANDONED THIS MOTOR ? I BELIEVE THEY JUST WANT ME TO GO AWAY - I BELIEVE THAT THERE IS AN IGNITION PROBLEM THEY ARE AWARE OF BUT WILL NOT ACKNOWLEDGE PUBLICLY. SINCE GOING TO THE INTERNET TO FIND A RESOLUTION ON MY OWN, I HAVE BECOME AWARE OF SIMILAR IGNITION PROBLEMS ON THEIR CURRENT MOTORCYCLES ? WHICH LEADS ME TO BELIEVE THAT THIS IS A MANUFACTURERS DEFECT, AND THAT THEY SHOULD BE HELD RESPONSIBLE TO FIX THIS PROBLEM. I HAVE SPENT OVER $2,400.00 TRYING TO RESOLVE THIS ISSUE, AND AM VERY ANGRY ABOUT THIS SITUATION, AND WOULD LIKE TO RECEIVE SOME TANGIBLE COMPENSATION, OR HAVE THE ISSUE RESOLVED. THE PROBLEM IS THAT THE BIKE WILL NOT HOLD AT IDLE ? EVEN WHEN WARM ? THE MOTOR JUST QUITS. THE ENGINE DOES NOT STUTTER OR HESITATE ? IT JUST CUTS OUT AS IF THE IGNITION WERE SHUT OFF --- THE COILS HAVE BEEN REPLACES TWICE ( ONCE AT EACH SHOP ) WITH OEM EQUIPMENT ? AND THE BIKE RAN FOR A COUPLE OF DAYS AFTER THE SECOND DEALER REPLACED BOTH COILS ? BUT THE PROBLEM IS BACK ----- I AM GETTING NO SUPPORT FROM TRIUMPH OR THEIR AUTHORIZED DEALERS. *TR

Higher-selling and older vehicles accumulate more reports. Counts are not failure rates and are not directly comparable between vehicles that sold in very different numbers.
