What this page shows
Everything below is an owner-reported complaint submitted to NHTSA about the 2006 Viking Epic, grouped by the component NHTSA recorded on the report. These are not confirmed defects, and they are not recalls. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a category with more reports in it is not evidence that a part is defective.
Complaints are reports submitted by owners and drivers to NHTSA. They are not verified and do not establish that a defect exists.

DT: THE CONSUMER PURCHASED A 2006 VIKING EPIC POP UP TRAILER. THE ROOF SYSTEM WAS NOT WORKING CORRECTLY. THE ROOF SYSTEM WAS NOT RELEASING. WHEN PUTTING THE ROOF DOWN HAD TO SHAKE AND HIT THE ROOF AND THE SIDE BARS, THEN THE ROOF DROPPED WITHOUT NOTICE WITH INCREDIBLE FORCE. THE CONSUMER WAS PETRIFIED THAT SOMEONE COULD BE SERIOUSLY INJURED. THE CONSUMER TALKED TO THE DELIVERY PEOPLE, AND THEY SAID THAT WAS HOW IT WAS MADE AND IT WOULD TAKE TIME TO BREAK IT IN. THEY OWNER TOOK THE CAMPER ON A TRIP AND THE TRAILER TOP WOULD NOT RELEASE PROPERLY. HAD TO BE HIT NUMEROUS TIMES WITH CONSUMER'S HANDS AND FIST AND THEN THE ROOF COLLAPSED WITH INCREDIBLE FORCE. THE OWNER HAS RECEIVED NHTSA RECALL 05V364000 LET IN THE MAIL ON THE ROOF SYSTEM ON 8-20-2005. THE RECALL STATED FOR THE CONSUMER NOT TO USE THE TRAILERS BECAUSE OF THE POTENTIAL FOR THE ROOF COLLAPSING UNEXPECTEDLY CONSUMER TALKED TO DEALER, AND THE DEALER STATED THAT THEY KNEW ABOUT THE RECALL, BUT THEY COULD NOT FIX IT. THE DEALER HAS NOT RECEIVED ANY INFORMATION FROM VIKING ON HOW TO FIX THE TRAILERS. THE DEALER DENIED KNOWING ANYTHING ABOUT THE RECALL PRIOR TO CONSUMER'S PURCHASING OF THE TRAILER TWO WEEKS EARLIER. THE OWNER WAS UPSET THAT HE HAD TO PAY $8,500.00 FOR A TRAILER THAT WAS COLLAPSING AND ENDANGERING HIS CHILDREN LIVES. *AK
Too few reports in this category for a page of its own — they appear in the full complaint list.
Higher-selling and older vehicles accumulate more reports. Counts are not failure rates and are not directly comparable between vehicles that sold in very different numbers.
