2004 Viking Legend Owner Complaints

Reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers, shown in full

Data refreshed

Complaints on fileComplaints are reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a complaint does not establish that a defect exists. Volume is influenced by how many of a vehicle were sold, how long it has been on the road, and how much attention an issue has received.

What this page shows

Our database holds 3 NHTSA owner-reported complaints for the 2004 Viking Legend. Each one is a report filed by an owner or driver and published by NHTSA without most of them being verified. A complaint is not a confirmed defect, not a recall and not a manufacturer bulletin. Narratives are shown exactly as filed.

Complaints are reports submitted by owners and drivers to NHTSA. They are not verified and do not establish that a defect exists.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 VIKING LEGEND. WHILE PARKED THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO RAISE THE TOP OF THE CAMPER, BUT IT WOULD NOT OPEN. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTICS. THE TECHNICIANS REPOWERED THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. AFTER THE REPAIR, THE FAILURE CONTINUED. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.

WHILE RAISING THE ROOF OF THE POP-UP CAMPER, THE LIFT CABLE BROKE AND THE ROOF FELL. FORTUNATELY NO ONE WAS INJURED. I FOUND A RECALL ON MY MODEL AND YEAR FOR INSTALLING A SAFETY BRAKE TO PREVENT THE ROOF FROM FALLING IF THE CABLE BREAKS (RECALL - CAMPAIGN #05V364000). THE COMPANY RESPONSIBLE FOR THE RECALL SAYS MY CAMPER IS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. SINCE THE ROOF FELL WHEN THE LIFT SYSTEM FAILED I AM NOT SURE WHY I CANNOT HAVE MY CAMPER FIXED. I CANNOT GET A DESCRIPTION FROM THEM EXPLAINING IT TO ME.

DT: THE CALLER SAID SHE TOOK VEHICLE TO DEALER FOR RECALL REPAIRS ON THE ROOF AND PILLARS. THE DEALER HAD THE VEHICLE FOR OVER A MONTH AND WAS HAVING TROUBLE GETTING THE PARTS FROM THE MANUFACTURER. THE MANUFACTURER SAID THEY DO NOT HAVE THE REMEDY FOR THE RECALL YET. SHE DID NOT KNOW WHEN SHE WILL GET VEHICLE BACK. VEHICLE WAS NOT LOCATED ON LIST. IT IS A 2004 VIKING LEGEND.*AK *NM

Higher-selling and older vehicles accumulate more reports. Counts are not failure rates and are not directly comparable between vehicles that sold in very different numbers.
