What this page shows
Everything below is an owner-reported complaint submitted to NHTSA about the 2011 Volkswagen Polo 1.6 Comfortline, grouped by the component NHTSA recorded on the report. These are not confirmed defects, and they are not recalls. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a category with more reports in it is not evidence that a part is defective.
Complaints are reports submitted by owners and drivers to NHTSA. They are not verified and do not establish that a defect exists.

I BOUGHT A VW POLO 1.6 COMFORTLINE, 2011 MODEL FROM THE BENONI DEALERSHIP. REGISTRATION NUMBER: BF66MWGP. THIS VEHICLE WAS FINANCED THROUGH STANDARD BANK INITIALLY BUT WAS PAID IN FULL AND HAD ONLY HAD 84598KMS ON THE CLOCK AT THE TIME OF MY ACCIDENT. THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED WITH A SERVICE PLAN/ MAINTENANCE PLAN AND WAP. THE VEHICLE HAD RECENTLY BEEN IN FOR ITS LAST SERVICE AT THE VW KRUGERSDORP SERVICE CENTRE. THIS VEHICLE WAS 5 YEARS OLD WITH A FULL SERVICE HISTORY DONE ONLY BY A VW DEALERSHIP. ON THE 24TH AUGUST 2016, I WENT OUT FOR THE EVENING AND ON MY WAY HOME THE MORNING OF THE 25TH AUGUST 2016, I HAD AN ACCIDENT AND THE VEHICLE ROLLED OFF THE ROAD INTO AN OPEN VELD WITH LOTS OF ROCKS AND BUILDING RUBBLE. THE ACCIDENT TOOK PLACE ABOUT 800M FROM THE LARATONG HOSPITAL WHICH IS ON THE R41 ROAD OR BETTER KNOWN AS MAIN REEF ROAD. I WAS TRAVELLING TOWARDS RANDFONTEIN FROM ROODEPOORT; MY DESTINATION WAS HOME, 37 KINGFISHER AVE, HELIKONPARK, RANDFONTEIN. AFTER THE ACCIDENT THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED BY HELP 24 WITH INSTRUCTION FROM OUTSURANCE AND I WAS TAKEN TO KRUGERSDORP PRIVATE HOSPITAL FOR MEDICAL ASSISTANCE. A FEW DAYS LATER I WAS TOLD THERE WOULD BE AN INVESTIGATION DONE BY MY INSURER. LIDSAY SAKER KRUGERSDORP SENT VW TECHNICIANS TO THE VEHICLE AT SMD TO ENQUIRE ABOUT THE AIR BAGS THAT DID NOT DEPLOY, THEY WERE THERE TWICE ACCORDING TO DIA THE OWNER OF SMD. MY VEHICLE WAS WRITTEN OFF BY OUTSURANCE, POLICY NO: OT15615678 AND CLAIM NO 141983078. THE ACCIDENT REPORT NUMBER IS AR 78/08/216 AND IS AT KAGISO SAPS. THE REASON FOR MY LETTER ON THIS SITE, IS THAT EVEN THOUGH THE CAR HAD ROLLED, NONE OF THE AIR-BAGS DEPLOYED IN THE VEHICLE. THERE IS A DIAGNOSTIC PROTOCOL DATED 14.09.2016, FAULT FINDING REPORT AT VW KRUGERSDORP CONFIRMING FAULT. THERE'S ENOUGH EVIDENCE IN THIS MATTER TO PROVE FAULTY AIRBAGS. TAKATA REPORTED ON FAULTY AIRBAGS. PLEASE HELP ME WITH THIS MATTER.
Too few reports in this category for a page of its own — they appear in the full complaint list.
Higher-selling and older vehicles accumulate more reports. Counts are not failure rates and are not directly comparable between vehicles that sold in very different numbers.
