The contact owns a 2026 Volkswagen Tiguan. The contact stated that while driving, several unknown warning lights illuminated. The contact stated that while the vehicle was at the dealer for a service appointment, the contact was informed of rodent damage under the hood of the vehicle. The contact was informed that the hood insulation, engine cover, plenum seal, and firewall insulation were chewed up by rodents. The contact was informed that the hood insulation, engine cover, plenum seal, and firewall insulation needed to be replaced. The contact stated that the vehicle was garage kept, and there was no indication of rodents on the property. The vehicle was inspected by Animal Control. The contact was informed that the damage was old. The contact was informed that the damage occurred while the vehicle was on the dealer's lot prior to the contact purchasing the vehicle in May 2026. The manufacturer was contacted by phone, and a case was filed. The failure mileage was approximately 2,809.

Last night I was easing into braking to switch lanes when the car braked on its own. (Completely stopping) There was nobody in front of me, and the car isn’t dirty, so the sensors weren't blocked. We were almost rear ended as a result. All the dash lights randomly turn on. The sos always comes and also, the horn when I lock my vehicle it occasionally goes off. The usb connections occasionally work in it. The car pretty much has its days.

I am leasing a 2026 Volkswagen Tiguan R-Line AWD, I took posession of on May 9, 2026. It has approx 2500 miles on it. The vehicle unexpectedly shifted itself into Park while I was actively driving the vehicle, including while approaching/intersecting at intersections. This occurred while I had my seatbelt on and the vehicle was in motion and was not an intentional action by me. When the problem occurred, the vehicle displayed a yellow warning triangle/caution warning. I have video and photographic documentation of the issue. Some files are larger and I am not able to upload but would be happy to provide mulitple videos and photos to al alternate location. The vehicle has been taken to the Volkswagen dealership for multiple inspections. The dealership was unable to duplicate or identify the cause of the problem. Despite the dealership not being able to reproduce the problem, I do not feel the vehicle is safe to drive because of the unexpected shift into Park while the vehicle is moving. Volkswagen and the dealership have been working on the matter, including an attempted Buyer Assist resolution and an appeal after Volkswagen denied the Buyer Assist request. The vehicle is currently being kept out of my possession while the matter is being resolved, and the dealership has provided me with a loaner vehicle. I am reporting this because I believe an unexpected shift into Park while a vehicle is being driven presents a significant safety concern and could potentially result in loss of control, an accident, or injury. I have a perfect video of the error code and of it throwing it's self into park several times, but I don't know how to connvert to get it uploaded to you. Please reach out so I can get it to you for this case.

Automated emergency braking triggering unsafely! Two separate occasions: 1) As I was driving about 40 MPH on a 4 lane street in Wyomissing, PA, the car slammed on the brakes. In the median to the left of the car ahead about 20-30 ft was a "your car is going XX MPH" sign. It was NOT in the road. If a car had been following me closely, this could have caused a serious accident. The road had a slight curve. The exact same thing happened the next day. I ended up avoided the road to prevent the braking issue. 2). I live on a busy city street. I have to reverse out of a tight garage and very slowly enter traffic. The chances of a car being 15 feet behind me are close to 90%. As I back slowly out, the car slams on the brakes and throws my head back, despite me going so slowly that the car behind me would be long gone by the time I actually got back that far. This happens to me DAILY. THIS IS A SAFETY issue for two reasons - 1) my head keeps getting slammed back, and 2) the car's sudden stop means in need to reset it into reverse - while cars are trying to go around me, and the backing up becomes erratic and a safety issue. I want automated reverse braking TURNED OFF. It it painful and triggers long before an actual accident would happen!

WHO WAS INVOLVED: Driver/owner of a 2026 Volkswagen Tiguan SEL-R Line Turbo WHAT HAPPENED: While reversing into a parking spot, the vehicle stopped unexpectedly with no obstruction present. Driver held the brake and shifted to Drive; the vehicle stopped again, then shifted itself into Park and engaged the electronic parking brake without driver input. Driver had to shift to Drive again to get the vehicle moving. On the next attempt, reverse and forward motion worked normally and the vehicle was parked successfully. WHEN THIS OCCURRED: July 24, 2026, approximately 3:40 PM WHERE: A parking lot with mostly empty parking; empty spaces on both sides of the target spot (there was a truck two spots over but otherwise no vehicles present), clear/unobstructed view of all parking lines, no cross-traffic, pedestrians, or objects present WHY (SUSPECTED CAUSE): Unknown. No obstruction, object, or hazard was present that should have triggered automatic braking or a park/e-brake engagement. Suspected false positive from Park Assist / parking sensors or a parking-brake logic fault, consistent with reports from other VW owners of similar phantom-stop and self-shift-to-Park incidents. All sensors were free of any debris. HOW RESOLVED: Condition cleared on its own after shifting to Drive a second time; vehicle was then able to be reversed and parked normally with no further incident.

Dashboard reflection on both lateral mirrors creates a Hazardous Visual Obstruction. Dear all, I’m a loyal client with my second lease with Volkswagen. Few weeks ago, me and my wife leased two Tiguan SE R Line Black 2026, the vehicles are great, however there is manufacture or design issue that I would like to share with you, since this issue could end in a fatal accident. The silver or chrome dashboard is reflected to the side mirrors (pictures attached), creating an obstruction to see the vehicles behind by the time to turn left or right. Dashboard reflections often caused by sunlight or bright streetlights can blind drivers, can create a hazardous visual illusion or hazy obstruction significantly increasing the risk of an accident. We do not feel safe at all with this condition, and it bothers a lot since the reflects not only blind sight when trying to see vehicles behind, but definitely this is something Volkswagen should solve, not only for us but all drivers using this vehicle, just to prevent an accident. I am experiencing a serious safety issue with my 2026 Volkswagen Tiguan. While the vehicle is in motion—either moving forward or in reverse—it will unexpectedly shift itself into PARK and engage the electronic parking brake. This has occurred several dozen times and creates an extremely dangerous situation, increasing the risk of a collision, injury, or other catastrophic accident. The Volkswagen dealership is aware of the issue and has observed or documented the concern, but I do not believe the matter is being addressed with the level of urgency warranted by the potential safety risk. Given the severity and frequency of these incidents, I am requesting immediate escalation and investigation to prevent a potentially serious accident.

I'm filing an urgent safety complaint regarding a series of severe defects in my 2026 Volkswagen Tiguan (VIN: [XXX]) that pose immediate, life-threatening hazards. On XXX, I took delivery of the vehicle, which was refueled by the dealership. By XXX, with temperatures soaring to 104°F, I encountered three critical issues: 1. **Engine Stall During Low-Speed Turn**: While turning at 2 MPH, the engine shut off without warning, losing power steering and brakes, and displaying a message to "manually restart the engine." 2. **Engine Stall While Reversing**: The engine stalled again while reversing into a parking spot, triggering the same emergency warning. 3. **Structural Window Seal Failure**: At 55 MPH, the driver-side window seal tore away, becoming a projectile that struck the passenger-side window, creating a severe distraction and road hazard. Despite reporting the engine stalling issues to the dealership, the service manager didn’t open a formal Repair Order, citing the stalling as "intermittent." On July 5, while attempting to refuel with half a tank, gasoline violently sprayed from the rear undercarriage, indicating a catastrophic failure of the fuel tank venting system. These incidents within 72 hours of delivery highlight systemic manufacturing and quality control failures. I have had the car towed back to the dealership via flatbed tow and the Volkswagen roadside assistance representative assisted with this transaction. I urge the NHTSA to investigate the fuel tank venting mechanisms, engine management software, and exterior seals of the 2026 Volkswagen Tiguan. Immediate action is necessary to quarantine this VIN ([XXX]) and assess potential safety recalls or stop-sales. The 2026 vw Tiguan infotainment system blacks out due to thermal failure at ambient temps as low as 100 deg f this creates a total loss of driver controls including windshield defrost and demise systems posing an immediate visibility hazard vw refused to repair becuase defective hardware does not store a diagnostic trouble code on reboot. Prevents any driver action to clear fogged windshield. Or operate fan speeds to do so.

My spare key fab caught on fire in my house while I was at work. The fire had the opportunity to spread soot throughout the kitchen as well as ruin my overhead microwave with the smoke getting in the vents. Luckily my grandmother and a friend went to my house to let my dog out at just the right moment and was able to remove the dish the key was in and take it outside before it spread to the house. I called the fire department and the fire marshal conducted an inspection and determined that based on his findings, the key ignited itself.

I was driving in 4 lane town traffic going under 10 MPH and the hazard lights came on by themselves, and the car died. Propulsion stopped. Fortunately I was able to pull onto a striped median, and once I was over shock, 3-5 ish minutes, I started the car and drove to the dealership. I don’t remember any warning message, and it seems like the steering and brakes were hard once it was dieing, but I was so shocked it’s hard to remember exactly. Out 2026 Tiguan Se line the first day when we drove the veh home it had a bad vibration and brake problems hvac system locking up unable to control the fan speed was raining out and the fan speed was inoperative had to pull over due to fogged up windows . The brake system when stopped at a light in traffic it will not hold the veh moves forward while the brake pedal is depressed firmly and in stop and go traffic the brake pedal gets hard .when backing up the the brakes violently apply scares you . The veh had only 384 miles on it the first time in the said they fixed now several weeks later it is back for the same problem . They said they do not know how to fix it .

When driving, the vehicle self shifted into neutral and was unresponsive. All of the dash warning lights came on and I was not able to apply throttle or shift the car into drive. I had to coast in neutral to the side of the road. This is a safety issue and there was a high possibly of crashing if it wasn’t on a rural road. This is the second time this has happened. The first time VW service said nothing had occurred and gave me my vehicle back.

While driving, car dashboard lights up like a Christmas tree with error messages, shakes, and goes into limp mode. Error messages include: - travel assist is currently not available - Error: Drive system. Please service vehicle. (Engine block highlighted on screen image) - Engine speed max. 4000 rpm (Engine block highlighted on screen image) Purchased car in November, problem happened in January <1200 total miles. Vehicle has been at dealership since January with no resolution (it is now May 29th). No invoice to upload as it has never been fixed. VW of America initially claimed it was a software update which is false, actual parts defect. Now known defect with turbo R line, as evidenced by multiple reports from consumers across the country, unsafe vehicle to operate as occurs while driving.

Vehicle purchase on 3/18/2026 with 17 miles. At 30 miles the SOS button started flashing red, then green, then red then no light at all. I called dealership and was made to think it was no big deal and that a dealership has to reset. I also let them know my info center was freezing. Took car back to dealership 6 hours away - they had car for 5 days and when I got in the same Issue of the info screen freezing was present. SOS button was fixed. I also gave them a list of many issues that needed to be looked at that I felt were not addressed or resolved. Dealership told me that all Tiguans are having a issue with the SOS and the info center freezing. They showed me it was in the system, but no fix. SO I was sold a car they knew had issues that could not be resolved right now. As a consumer I should have been told the issues so I could make a decision to buy or not. I called VW from the dealership 4/24 and was told I would get a call back. I have called and called trying to call the case manager with no avail. I have been told by VW only the case manager. Plug for phone charger almost fried my phone. Was so hot my phone turned off, turning off my navigation. So my phone was off, navigation off and SOS button not working. I was on the road in the middle of nowhere going back to the dealership 6 hours away.

2026 Tiguan SEL Turbo R-Line goes into limp mode. Volkswagen originally diagnosed this as a software issue. A software fix was finally released (after two months of waiting) but the 'fix' does not solve the problem. I had the software patch applied at my dealership last week but found the car to be exhibiting the same problem this morning. Car shakes and shudders and goes into 'limp mode'. Due to significantly reduced power, it is not safe to drive.

My 2026 Volkswagen Tiguan has repeatedly experienced a complete loss of motive power while driving in active traffic. The engine stalls without warning, forcing me to perform a manual reset in the middle of the road. The vehicle also has a severe defect where it independently engages the electronic parking brake or shifts itself into Park during low-speed or turning maneuvers. This happens without any driver input and results in the car "slamming" to a violent stop. My safety and my baby’s safety are put at risk every time I start this car. The engine has stalled multiple times while I was in the middle of busy traffic, leaving us a "sitting duck" for a rear-end collision. There is no warning; the power just cuts out, and I’m left stranded trying to restart the car while other drivers swerve around us. When the car slams on the brakes or shifts itself into Park while I’m moving, it feels like the car is fighting me for control. I can’t trust the vehicle to stay moving when it’s supposed to or stay in gear when I’m merging. It is a life-threatening defect that makes the car completely undrivable. Yes, the vehicle has been inspected twice by the authorized manufacturer dealership, Pacific Volkswagen. They have documented the safety issues on Repair Orders #[XXX] and #[XXX]. During these inspections, the service department confirmed that the vehicle is unsafe to drive, yet they stated they could not find a diagnostic "code" to provide a permanent fix. No warning lamps or error messages appeared prior to the engine stalling in traffic. The loss of power is sudden and total. The only symptom that appeared was during parking maneuvers, where the dashboard would occasionally display "Sensor Restricted" followed by the car independently shifting into Park or slamming on the brakes. Started having issues immediately after purchase with turbo issues. Which force the car into am RPM limited limp mode. Made 3 trips to dealer with no resolution. The car has very limited power and is unsafe to drive. We have been asking for a loaner for a couple weeks and are finally being granted one. There seems to be no time for a resolution. The vehicle has basically not functioned correctly since buying it.

On March 12 warning message came on saying emergency drive system not available and then numerous warning lights came on and the car started to shake violently and went into limp mode. I pulled into a parking lot and called roadside assistance. It was towed to the dealership and has been there since. I was told it showed a misfire on cylinder 4 and has a faulty injector.

Red light flashing above SOS button constantly. Apparently means malfunction in emergency call system. Fixed once day after purchase. Now flashing again. Dealer today said they don’t know how to fix it and Volkswagon are not helping. Critical system in event of an emergency. 500 miles on car now and has been to dealership twice with no resolution.
