The defect: Wabash National Corporation (Wabash) is recalling certain 2021-2026 Econex Refrigerated Body vehicles. The side door stirrup steps are not properly secured and may detach.
The risk: Steps that detach while in use increase the risk of injury. Additionally, steps that detach while in transit increase the risk of a crash.
The remedy: Wabash will repair the stirrup steps, free of charge. Interim owner notification letters explaining the safety risk were mailed by September 3, 2026. Owners will receive another notice once remedy becomes available. Owners may contact Wabash customer service at 1-765-771-5404.

Manufacturer communication
Manufacturers file copies of the bulletins they send to dealers with NHTSA. These often describe diagnostic or repair procedures for a known condition. They are not recalls: repairs described in a bulletin are usually only free if the vehicle is still under warranty or the manufacturer has extended coverage.
