The defect: Wabash National Corporation (Wabash) is recalling certain 2021-2026 Econex Refrigerated Body vehicles. The side door stirrup steps are not properly secured and may detach.
The risk: Steps that detach while in use increase the risk of injury. Additionally, steps that detach while in transit increase the risk of a crash.
The remedy: Wabash will repair the stirrup steps, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed September 4, 2026. Owners may contact Wabash customer service at 1-765-771-5404.

Manufacturer communication
Manufacturers file copies of the bulletins they send to dealers with NHTSA. These often describe diagnostic or repair procedures for a known condition. They are not recalls: repairs described in a bulletin are usually only free if the vehicle is still under warranty or the manufacturer has extended coverage.
