2012 Winnebago Via Problems

Owner-reported complaints filed with NHTSA, grouped by component

Data refreshed

Owner complaintsComplaints are reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a complaint does not establish that a defect exists. Volume is influenced by how many of a vehicle were sold, how long it has been on the road, and how much attention an issue has received.

What this page shows

Everything below is an owner-reported complaint submitted to NHTSA about the 2012 Winnebago Via, grouped by the component NHTSA recorded on the report. These are not confirmed defects, and they are not recalls. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a category with more reports in it is not evidence that a part is defective.

Complaints are reports submitted by owners and drivers to NHTSA. They are not verified and do not establish that a defect exists.

WHILE DRIVING ON INTERSTATE 94 APPROXIMATELY 23 AUGUST 2011, AND SURROUNDED BY SEMI TRUCK TRAFFIC I EXPERIENCED A RAPID DECELERATION OF MY VEHICLE WITHOUT ANY WARNING. IN ADDITION, THE TRAFFIC WAS SO TIGHT, AND DUE TO THE RAPID DECELERATION RATE, I BARELY ESCAPED BEING HIT FROM THE REAR BY AN APPROACHING FULLY LOADED 53 FOOT SEMI TRAILER. I FOUND OUT LATER THAT THE PROBLEM WAS CAUSED BY A DEFECTIVE EGR VALVE THAT FAILED DUE TO WATER INTRUSION. THE ENGINE MANUFACTURER, MERCEDES BENZ, STATED THAT THE WINNEBAGO COMPANY USING THEIR SPRINTER CHASIS AND ENGINE ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR A DESIGN DEFICIENCY THAT ALLOWS WATER TO ENTER UNDER THE HOOD AND DAMAGE THE EGR VALVE IN SUCH A MANNER AS TO CAUSE THE RAPID DECELERATION. *TR
