2005 Yamaha 1100 Silverado Owner Complaints

Reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers, shown in full

Data refreshed

Complaints on fileComplaints are reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a complaint does not establish that a defect exists. Volume is influenced by how many of a vehicle were sold, how long it has been on the road, and how much attention an issue has received.

I PULLED OVER JUST IN TIME TO AVOID THE NUT GETTING JAMMED INSIDE THE PROTECTIVE DRIVESHAFT HOOP WHICH WOULD HAVE CAUSED THE REAR WHEEL TO LOCK UP. *TR

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 YAMAHA SILVERADO MOTORCYCLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT A NUT ON THE BACK OF THE DRIVE SHAFT WILL COME OFF AND CAUSE THE REAR WHEEL TO LOCK UP AT HIGH OR LOW SPEEDS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND THEY STATED THEY WERE AWARE OF THE FAILURE BUT THEY COULD OFFER NO ASSISTANCE. THE REPAIRS WOULD COST 1100.00, AT THE OWNERS EXPENSE. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 23,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
