2007 Yamaha V-Star Problems

Owner-reported complaints filed with NHTSA, grouped by component

Data refreshed

Owner complaintsComplaints are reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a complaint does not establish that a defect exists. Volume is influenced by how many of a vehicle were sold, how long it has been on the road, and how much attention an issue has received.

What this page shows

Everything below is an owner-reported complaint submitted to NHTSA about the 2007 Yamaha V-Star, grouped by the component NHTSA recorded on the report. These are not confirmed defects, and they are not recalls. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a category with more reports in it is not evidence that a part is defective.

Complaints are reports submitted by owners and drivers to NHTSA. They are not verified and do not establish that a defect exists.

Ranked by how many owner reports name each component category

  • Electrical133.3%

I WAS TRAVELING AT A RATE OF SPEED OF 50MPH WITH MY WIFE AS A PASSENGER WHEN MY MOTORCYCLE JUST SHUT OFF NO WARNING NO NOTHING. AFTER SEVERAL TRIES TO RESTART THE BIKE AFTER GETTING IT TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD IT WOULD JUST CRANK AND NOT START.AS WE SAT ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD WAITING FOR HELP WHICH TOOK ABOUT 1.5 HRS FOR MY DAUGHTER TO ARRIVE WITH MY TRUCK WE FEEL THAT WE SAT IN DANGER AS WELL AS WITH THE BIKE JUST SHUTTING OFF IT COULD OF CAUSED SERIOUS INJURY/DEATH GOOD THING I WASN'T TRAVELING AT A HIGHER RATE OF SPEED ON A MAJOR HIGHWAY WITH A LOT OF TRAFFIC. UPON FURTHER RESEARCH ONLINE THROUGH FORUMS IT SEEM LIKE ITS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THESE BIKES EACH CASE I READ WAS THE SAME THING THAT HAPPEN TO ME. I HAVE CONTACTED YAMAHA AND THEY SEEM TO HAVE NO ISSUE WITH WHAT HAS HAPPEN. THERE NEEDS TO BE A RECALL AS IT IS A GREAT SAFETY ISSUE. *TR
