2006 Yamaha YP400 Problems

Owner-reported complaints filed with NHTSA, grouped by component

Data refreshed

Owner complaintsComplaints are reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a complaint does not establish that a defect exists. Volume is influenced by how many of a vehicle were sold, how long it has been on the road, and how much attention an issue has received.

What this page shows

Everything below is an owner-reported complaint submitted to NHTSA about the 2006 Yamaha YP400, grouped by the component NHTSA recorded on the report. These are not confirmed defects, and they are not recalls. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a category with more reports in it is not evidence that a part is defective.

Complaints are reports submitted by owners and drivers to NHTSA. They are not verified and do not establish that a defect exists.

ACCELERATING FROM STOP INTO A LEFT TURN AT AN INTERSECTION THE ENGINE JUST DIED AND WE ALMOST FELL BECAUSE A BUMP AND BRAKE LIKE EVENT OCCURRED WITH THE BIKE LEANING OVER FOR THE TURN, THIS WAS VERY UNSETTLING. SIMILAR EVENTS HAD OCCURRED PREVIOUSLY AFTER STARTING TO ACCELERATE FROM A STOP OR A NEAR STOP. THEY HAD OCCURRED WHEN DRIVING IN A STRAIGHT LINE AND THE ENGINE RESTARTING RIGHT UP AFTER EACH INCIDENT. THIS LAST TIME IT OCCURRED WITH THE BIKE LEANING, WITH A LITTLE HIGHER MOMENTUM BECAUSE OF A HIGHER SPEED AND IT HAPPENED AT THE WORST PLACE TO OCCUR, AT A BUSY INTERSECTION WHILE IN A BAD ANGLE. THEN ENGINE HAD ISSUES RESTARTING AGAIN SO I HAD THE BIKE PICKED UP BY A DEALER NEAR ME AND AFTER INSPECTION I WAS INFORMED THAT IT WAS A BAD FUEL PUMP, AND THAT THERE ARE A LOT OF POST IN THE WEB OF SIMILAR OCCURRENCES TO OTHER OWNERS OF YAMAHA MAJESTY 400'S. *TR
