2005 Yamaha Zuma Problems

Owner-reported complaints filed with NHTSA, grouped by component

Data refreshed

Owner complaintsComplaints are reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a complaint does not establish that a defect exists. Volume is influenced by how many of a vehicle were sold, how long it has been on the road, and how much attention an issue has received.

What this page shows

Everything below is an owner-reported complaint submitted to NHTSA about the 2005 Yamaha Zuma, grouped by the component NHTSA recorded on the report. These are not confirmed defects, and they are not recalls. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a category with more reports in it is not evidence that a part is defective.

Complaints are reports submitted by owners and drivers to NHTSA. They are not verified and do not establish that a defect exists.

2005 YAMAHA MAJESTY FLUTTERS, STALL AND TURNS ITSELF OFF PERIODICALLY WITH NO WARNING. THIS PROBLEM IS BEING REPORTED ON THE YAMAHA MAJESTY CHAT ROOMS ESPECIALLY YAHOO. I CONTACTED YAMAHA OF AMERICA AND THEY STATED NO PROBLEM HAS BEEN REPORTED. THE CHAT ROOMS HOWEVER REFLECT THAT YAMAHA HAS RECOGNIZED A PROBLEM WITH SOME OF THE SCOOTERS BECAUSE THEY HAVE REPLACED FAULTY ECU IN 2006 BIKES UNDER WARRANTY. THE PROBLEM EXTENDS BEYOND 2006 AS MY SCOOTER IS A 2005 AS ARE OTHERS BEING REPORTED IN THE CHAT ROOMS. THIS PROBLEM OCCURS WITHOUT NOTICE AND WHILE THE BIKE IS MOVING AND SOONER OR LATER WILL CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. I BOUGHT THE SCOOTER USED AND THE STALLING OCCURRED THE SECOND WEEK I HAD THE BIKE. I HAVE CONTACTED THE PREVIOUS OWNER TO SEE IF HE HAD A PROBLEM. THE MAJESTY CHAT ROOMS ESPECIALLY YAHOO REPORTS MANY OTHERS WITH THIS PROBLEM. MOST OF THE TIME IT IS AT LOW SPEEDS AFTER A STOP AND MAKING A TURN. *JB
