2014 Acura MDX Fuel system Problems

Owner-reported complaints naming the fuel system system, filed with NHTSA

Data refreshed

Fuel system reportsComplaints are reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a complaint does not establish that a defect exists. Volume is influenced by how many of a vehicle were sold, how long it has been on the road, and how much attention an issue has received.

Car jerked badly on highway when trying to accelerate. It puckered to a stop after a few hours. But started in a few mins and we got home. Mechanic suggested that fuel pressure is low. No repair done. But problem did not surface again for a little bit. Now emissions problem light has come on. This is the third time in 4 months. Once again mechanic suggested low fuel pressure and also pointed to the recall. Writing to request being included

Headlights somehow may be taking on moisture. The clarity is down to almost nothing. Driving at night is unsafe! The RPM’s have never been smooth or consistent. There is almost a micro-revving effect. I’ve had all of the fluids and filters changed…… dealership thought it was a recall.

The fuel pump impeller was improperly moulded, resulting in low density impellers. Over time, the low-density impeller can deform and interfere with the fuel pump body, rendering the fuel pump inoperative. If the fuel pump module is inoperative, the engine may not start or can stall while driving, increasing the risk of a crash or injury. difficulty starting, engine hesitation while driving, or an illuminated check engine light

ON OR ABOUT 50,000 MILES WE NOTICED THE CAR WOULD SURGE WHEN DRIVING ON A FLAT LEVEL SURFACE ABOUT 50 MILES AN HOUR. THE TACHOMETER WILL SHOW A PULSING RPM MY WIFE FIRST COMPLAINT OFFICIALLY ABOUT IT WHEN THE CAR HEAD JUST OVER 80,000 MILES AND WE WERE TOLD IT WAS A SOFTWARE ISSUE BUT IT WAS OUT OF WARRANTY.. THIS DOES NOT SEEM LIKE IT SHOULD BE EXPIRED AS IT IS AN ISSUE WITH THE CAR AND SHOULD BE A RELATIVELY EASY FIX AND NOT HAVE TO PAY $400 TO HAVE IT DONE

FIRST, I HAVE HAD THE VEHICLE FOR A LITTLE OVER A YEAR. I HAVE DRIVEN TO FLORIDA AND NC WITHOUT ISSUE. TODAY WILL BE THE 4TH TIME TAKING MY CAR TO THE ACURA DEALERSHIP IN LESS THAN 3 MONTHS. TODAY THE CAR STARTED TO KICKBACK WHEN I REACH 20MPH. ALSO, AT 80MPH THE CAR IS JERKY WHEN I ACCELERATE OR DECREASE AND GO AGAIN. ALSO WHEN I RELEASE THE GAS, THE SPEED DECREASES QUICKLY AS OPPOSED TO GRADUALLY. AROUND 60MPH THE CAR TENDS TO HAVE A SLIGHT JERK WHICH IVE NOTIFIED ACURA BUT THEY SAID I NEED A WHEEL ALIGNMENT WHICH IVE DONE. THE ISSUE PRIOR WAS ALL THE LIGHTS IN THE DASH CAME ON THE THE DRIVE FUNCTION WAS ALMOST PAUSED WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION. ACURA CLAIMED THE ISSUE WAS MINOR YET I AM GOING AGAIN TODAY. PRIOR TO THAT ISSUE, SOMETHING NEAR THE TIRES WAS SCRATCHING OR SOMETHING WHICH THEY CLAIMED THE ISSUE WAS FIXED. WHAT LED ME TO THE DEALERSHIP THE FIRST TIME WAS THE VEHICLE WAS JERKY AT DIFFERENT TIMES WHILE ACCELERATING. ACURA PERFORMED A SOFTWARE UPGRADE WHICH FIXED THE ISSUE FOR A COUPLE DAYS. AT SOME POINT, THE VEHICLE NEEDS TO BE RE-ASSESSED AND POSSIBLY TOTALED OUT OR SOMETHING. I HAVE 3 KIDS AND ALWAYS ON THE RUN. I USED TO TRUST ACURA AND THE RELIABILITY BUT THE ISSUES SEEM TO GET WORSE AND WORSE.

THIS IS THE FOURTH INCIDENT OF UNINTENDED ENGINE REVVING WITH THIS VEHICLE. THIS FOURTH INCIDENT OCCURRED AT 7121 MILES. WAS IN "REVERSE," POSITIONING THE VEHICLE TO PULL INTO A PARKING SPACE. THE ENGINE SUDDENLY ACCELERATED WHILE I WAS IN "REVERSE" AND MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE PEDAL. HAD TO FIRMLY PRESS ON THE BRAKE PEDAL TO HOLD THE CAR FROM RUNNING INTO PEOPLE AND OTHER VEHICLES BEHIND OUR VEHICLE. SHIFTED INTO "NEUTRAL". THE ENGINE SOUNDED LIKE ONE THIRD OF FULL THROTTLE. I PRESSED ON THE GAS PEDAL AND THE ENGINE RETURNED TO IDLE. MY WIFE WAS WITH ME DURING THIS INCIDENT. SHE WAS WITH ME IN THE VEHICLE DURING THREE OF THESE FOUR SIMILAR INCIDENTS. *TR
