Electronic throttle failing multiple times despite repairs.
I own a 2017 Alfa Romeo Giulia that recently received a fuel-pump-related recall repair under FCA Recall 93C / NHTSA Campaign 25V-586 at an authorized Alfa Romeo dealership. Approximately three days after the recall repair was completed, I was driving the vehicle in active traffic with my daughter when the vehicle unexpectedly began decelerating and lost drive power. I had to shut the vehicle off, and afterward the vehicle would not restart. The vehicle had to be towed back to the Alfa Romeo dealership. The service advisor subsequently advised me that the current problem was related to the fuel system and that the fuel-related component was being replaced again. The vehicle remains at the dealership while the repair is being completed. This is also the second time this vehicle has completely shut down while I was driving. During a prior incident, the vehicle became disabled on a busy roadway and police responded and blocked traffic around the vehicle because of the danger posed by its location. I am concerned that the Recall 93C repair did not adequately remedy the fuel-system defect, that the replacement component failed, or that the recall repair was otherwise connected to the subsequent loss-of-drive-power event. I have repair records, towing documentation and video relating to the current repair and will retain the dealership's final diagnostic report when it becomes available.
My 2017 Alfa Romeo Giulia lost motive power and was disabled multiple times the most recent on August 3, 2026 due to failure of the fuel delivery module — the same component and failure mode covered by Safety Recall 93C / NHTSA Campaign 25V-586. When I contacted the dealership, they confirmed the recall applied to my vehicle but advised that replacement parts were not available. No loaner or alternate transportation was offered. I was without my vehicle for 8 days and had to rent a vehicle at my own expense. FCA US filed this recall on September 9, 2025 stating that the remedy was still under development. Owners were left without a repair path for an extended period on a defect the manufacturer's own chronology shows it had been evaluating since 2023, and which had produced 437 complaints, 5 crashes, and 3 injuries by the time the defect was determined. Stellantis has twice declined to reimburse my transportation costs, citing that the visit was "recall work only" and that my factory warranty expired in 2021. My vehicle was not brought in for preventive recall service — it failed on the road because of the recalled part. I am reporting this so the delay between recall announcement and parts availability, and its cost to owners, is on the record for this campaign.

My car keeps going into limp mode seasonally, it also emits bad odors when given throttle, and it is definitely lacking power. Situation has also caused a misfire on my 3rd cylinder and a super rough idle and start
After driving my vehicle for about 40 min with the AC blower at full speed, the relay located in the trunk power distribution box melted, affecting sections of the female plug and wire ends. Right after the event, the blower stopped working and I found out many owners have reported this same issue. Upon inspection at the dealership, they recommended to replace the blower motor, power module (modern resistor) and for my surprise, the entire power distribution box and wire loom all the way to the BCM. They said wires and connections have been compromised by the excessive heat. At the dealership, the service department was convinced the root cause of the problem was the blower motor, normally those bearings tend to fail and consume more current but nothing beyond that was discussed. After exchanging with the dealership about part numbers, I realized that the AC blower part number for my car was superseded (68320172AA was replaced by 68353201AA) to eliminate that known problem. Stellantis introduced a superseded blower motor assembly with improved internal mechanics to prevent this excessive current draw. Interestingly, industry parts data shows the redesigned motor is not only more robust, but it is actually significantly cheaper to replace than the flawed 2017-2019 OEM units. Although Stellantis is aware of this flaw, there is no TSB or warranty coverage for this problem. Each 2017-2019 owner has to pay out of pocket for this expensive repairs or like in my case charge the Mopar service plan (thanks god I paid for it). I would ask the Agency to investigate the actual fire risk of this problem, I'm pretty sure there are many drivers out there completely unaware of this, running very hot relays. The fuse in the circuit won't work prior to the relays melting allowing wires to overheat. Others drivers have reported this in forums but most just change the relay only. My car is still at the dealership waiting on the power module (it has been there since June 15th)
The contact owns a 2017 Alfa Romeo Giulia. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle shut off suddenly. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact stated that on a separate occasion, the vehicle shut off while coming to a complete stop. The contact waited for 30 minutes before restarting the vehicle. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V586000 (Fuel System, Gasoline); however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer and was diagnosed with fuel pump failure. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The failure mileage was approximately 64,000.
CRITICAL FINANCIAL NON-COMPLIANCE REPORT regarding NHTSA Campaign 25V586 / Alfa Romeo Recall 93C. On July 16, 2026, my vehicle suffered a catastrophic loss of motive power and stalled on the highway due to the exact fuel pump module defect described in Campaign 25V586 (Bristow's Auto Repair Invoice #33733 confirmed code P008A and low fuel pressure at 349mBar). Because the vehicle was entirely inoperable, I paid $2,207.27 out of pocket for an emergency repair. Alfa Romeo Customer Care has twice formally refused in writing to process my pre-recall reimbursement claim, explicitly stating they will not pay until a factory remedy is commercially available. This is a direct violation of the mandatory claim-processing guidelines under federal regulation 49 CFR § 573.13. Manufacturer is unlawfully withholding federally mandated consumer reimbursement.
While driving in the dark, the car's headlamps extinguished multiple times for 1-2 seconds over the course of about 15 minutes. The headlamp switch was in the "Auto On-Off" position. I eventually turned the headlamp switch to the "On" position and the incident did not repeat for the next 45 minutes while driving home. The next day I examined the ambient light sensor located at the rearview mirror console behind the windshield. The glass was clean and without water or bug debris. I tested the "Auto On-Off" function by placing a towel over the ambient light sensor, and it correctly controlled the on-off function of the headlamps. Similar incidences are reported on a popular Alfa Romeo forum at [XXX]. However, I cannot find that any TSB or Recall has been issued. I have not had a dealer examine the vehicle. The vehicle is a MY 2017 Alfa Romeo Giulia Ti VIN [XXX] and is available for inspection. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
Hot weather, longish drive, car lost power and started throwing codes. I have a code reader (because this has happened before) and the code reader blamed the problem on fuel delivery system. You issued a recall on this last year (25V-586) but there is not yet a remedy from the company. This car, and many like it may be dangerous to drive and may strand drivers -- as it would have done to me in the past had I need had the code reader and the means to re-set the computer once ambient temperature were lower. You may want to issue a reminder to them that this needs fixing and ASAP. Thanks.
The contact owns a 2017 Alfa Romeo Giulia. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V586000 (Fuel System, Gasoline); however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle unintendedly went into LIMP Mode, and the vehicle lost automotive power. Several unknown warning lights were illuminated. In addition, the contact stated that while attempting to start the vehicle with the Push-to-Start feature, the engine hesitated while turning over. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer, where it was diagnosed; however, the cause of the failure was not yet determined. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 65,000.
Rear window area is leaking into cab of truck. Appears to be coming from above the rear window. Has lead to water intrusion and possible electrical issues within window motor and nearby. Headliner area is also getting wet/holding water.
My vehicle is affected by Recall 93C / (NHTSA 25V-586 )for a fuel pump defect that can cause the engine to stall while driving. This safety issue has already occurred — my vehicle stalled while in motion, creating a dangerous situation. The car is currently unsafe to drive. Description of the Incident: I scheduled a recall appointment with the Englewood Cliffs Alfa Romeo dealer after reporting that the car had stalled. When I arrived, the dealer attempted to charge me a $450 diagnostic fee even though the visit was specifically for a federally regulated safety recall. I declined the fee and left because I did not feel comfortable being charged for recall‑related inspection. Manufacturer Response: I contacted Stellantis Customer Care. They stated that they “have no control over how the dealer operates” and that they would require diagnostic documentation from the dealer before providing rental assistance. This means I would still be required to pay the diagnostic fee, even though the issue is recall‑related. Reason for Filing: The dealer’s refusal to perform recall‑related inspection without charging a diagnostic fee prevents me from addressing a known safety defect. The manufacturer’s position leaves me unable to obtain recall service unless I pay out of pocket. I am concerned that this creates a barrier for consumers attempting to address a serious safety recall. Requested Action: I am requesting NHTSA’s review of this dealer’s handling of Recall 93C and Stellantis’ response requiring paid diagnostics before providing recall support. I would like NHTSA to ensure that consumers can obtain recall inspections and remedies without being charged diagnostic fees.

Manufacturer Recall Number93C has been almost a year and the remedy still not yet available!!

The vehicle is experiencing multiple system malfunctions involving the engine performance, fuel system, and electronic throttle control, including engine shaking while idling, activation of the check engine light, a “start/stop unavailable” message, limp mode (inability to switch between driving modes), and illumination of the electronic throttle control warning light. One dealership suggested the issue may be related to an open fuel pump recall after noting that previously replaced spark plugs were heavily carbon-fouled, indicating excessive fuel combustion; however, another dealership diagnosed the engine as “scored” and recommended major repair. This diagnosis is disputed, as an independent mechanic performed a borescope inspection and reported no visible internal engine damage. The issue is intermittent—some days the vehicle operates normally, while other days it becomes undrivable. This creates a safety risk, as the vehicle may unexpectedly enter limp mode, limiting acceleration and drivability in situations such as merging or navigating traffic. I have not been involved in any accidents related to this issue and avoid driving the vehicle when symptoms are present. The vehicle has been inspected by both a dealership and an independent mechanic, but not by police or insurance representatives. Warning lights and symptoms, including the check engine light, electronic throttle control light, and start/stop warning, began appearing prior to the drivability failure and around the same time I received notice of the fuel pump recall. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request.
Vehicle completely lost power and quite running in the middle of the desert in Arizona. This relates to Saftey Recall 93c. I had to have the car towed and repaired in Scottsdale, AZ. I have been told that this repair (which was expensive) might not remedy the problem and it could reoccur. It's been over six months since the recall was issued and yet no remedy is available and I have not received reimbursement for the repairs I had to have done to get my vehicle running. I think six months is enough time given that I cannot trust the reliability of my vehicle due to this serious problem. When a vehicle just "turns off" in the middle of the freeway it poses a huge safety risk both to the occupants and to other drivers in the area. So my complaint is that it's taking far too long for Stellates to produce parts to remedy this problem.
I was driving on the highway and my car starts sputtering, I figured I pull over and turn my car off and on. My car seemed fine and I continued to drive home from work. As soon as I got off the highway my car completely shut off mid ride, stalls out and my steering wheel locked up. I was able to get my car turned back on and get back home. Filled with anxiety at least. Luckily I have a code reader in my car as soon as I pulled into my driveway and the codes showing where P008A which is directly related to a fuel pump/ fuel delivery issue. This happened on February 28th. I have been scared to drive the car since

The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The failure mileage was unknown.
the vehicle has read off warnings seconds from simply stopping and cutting off in traffic. this has happened at least two times now. it may say full throttle service and flash lights before simply slowing down and the check engine light flashing while on the highway unable to speed up no matter how far down on the gas pedal I push. has been taken to dealer several times. problems started soon after purchasing vehicle. On 3/1/2026 while leaving church service, my family and I were on a major highway with the speed limit at 65 mph. The vehicle just slowed down without giving any power and could not get it up to the speed to continue with traffic. This vehicle could put me and my family at risk for a possible dangerous situation.
Odometer Fraud. The contact owns a 2017 Alfa Romeo Giulia. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V586000 (Fuel System, Gasoline); however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The local dealer was contacted. The contact also received notification NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V510000 (Air Bags, Seat Belts), and the recall remedy was available; however, the dealer was charging to complete the recall repair. The dealer had been in possession of the vehicle for approximately a month. Upon picking up the vehicle, it was discovered that there was a mileage discrepancy. The mileage at the time of the dealer drop off was 91,595. The mileage at pickup was 60,000. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue but did not offer further assistance.
