Manufacturer communications
A bulletin sent by a manufacturer to its dealers. Not a recall, and repairs are not necessarily free.
EQUIPMENT
Altec has discovered that cracks might have formed in the yoke of the platform assembly on some AC40 cranes equipped with a personnel platform built between February 2014 and November 2020. Although the cracks do not compromise the structural integrity of the platform assembly, Altec will provide a replacement yoke if cracks are found. Altec requires the platform yoke to be inspected on each unit. The inspection and repair must be completed no later than 90 days after receipt of the SIL. If the yoke does not pass the inspection, remove the platform assembly from service. Order the Platform Yoke Replacement Kit, part number 991283643, by calling 1-877-GO ALTEC (1-877-462-5832). Return the unit to service without the platform assembly, and install the kit as soon as it is received.
Manufacturers file copies of the bulletins they send to dealers with NHTSA. These often describe diagnostic or repair procedures for a known condition. They are not recalls: repairs described in a bulletin are usually only free if the vehicle is still under warranty or the manufacturer has extended coverage.
Compare model years
Complaint and recall counts across every year of this model
Higher-selling and older vehicles accumulate more reports. Counts are not failure rates and are not directly comparable between vehicles that sold in very different numbers. Older model years have had longer for reports to accumulate.
