SERVICE BRAKES, AIR:SUPPLY:HOSES, LINES/PIPING, AND FITTINGS

The defect: Altec Industries Inc. (Altec) is recalling certain 2003-2019 Altec AD108 Cable handlers and HLIW-T Trailer Mounted Insulator Washer vehicles. The vehicles may be equipped with non-DOT brake line fittings that may leak at the air fittings. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 106, "Brake Hoses."
The risk: If the brake lines leak, the parking brake may drag, increasing the risk of crash.
The remedy: Altec will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the vehicles and replace the brake line air fittings if necessary, free of charge. The recall began July 31, 2019. Owners may contact Altec customer service at 1-877-462-5832. Altec's number for this recall is CSN 723.

EQUIPMENT

The Hot Line Insulator Wash-Trailer (HLIW-T) tank lid should be open when filling the tank with water. If the tank lid is left closed while filling, pressure can build up in the tank forcing the lid to swing open possibly causing personal injury. Altec is providing two English placards warning of the pressurized lid condition. Place the placard on the lid in the locations shown on Figure 1.
