The defect: ARBOC Specialty Vehicles, LLC (ARBOC) is recalling certain model year 2009-2014 Spirit of Mobility transit buses, models 191WB and 210WB, and Spirit of Freedom transit buses, models 191WB and 210WB, manufactured September 24, 2008, to March 27, 2014. The affected vehicles were built with an undersized wire to the fuel pump supply circuit.
The risk: The undersized wire may cause the fuel pump to not function, resulting in a vehicle stall, increasing the risk of a crash.
The remedy: ARBOC will notify owners, and dealers will replace the affected harness, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin in December 2014. Owners may contact ARBOC customer service at 1-866-953-5555. ARBOC's number for this recall is TSB1401.

The defect: ARBOC specialty vehicles, LLC (ARBOC) is recalling certain model year 2012 Spirit of Mobility buses, models 21-G, 23-G, 23-D, 26-G, 26S-DC, 26-D, 28-G and 28-GC, manufactured from May 14, 2012, through September 26, 2012. The passenger seat base rear bolts may be missing their reinforcement plates.
The risk: In the event of an accident, inadequate reinforcement of the passenger seat may result in the seats ripping from the floor, increasing the risk of injury to the vehicle occupants.
The remedy: ARBOC will will notify owners, and dealers will repair the affected seat bases, free of charge. This recall ibegan on January 14, 2013. Owners may contact ARBOC at 1-575-825-4880.

The defect: ARBOC SPECIALTY VEHICLES, LLC (ARBOC) IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2011 AND 2012 SPIRIT OF MOBILITY AND FREEDOM TRANSIT BUSES MANUFACTURED FROM APRIL 1, 2011, THROUGH MARCH 25, 2012, EQUIPPED WITH PROLO ROOF ESCAPE HATCHES. INCREASED FRICTION BETWEEN THE REAR PLATE ASSEMBLIES, P/NO. 009327, AND THE NYLON REAR POP-UP SUPPORT, P/NO. 008956, MAY RESULT IN AN OPENING FORCE OF THE PROLO ROOF HATCHES THAT EXCEEDS FEDERAL STANDARD REQUIREMENTS. THUS, THESE HATCHES FAIL TO CONFORM TO THE REQUIREMENTS OF FEDERAL MOTOR VEHICLE SAFETY STANDARD NO. 217, "BUS EMERGENCY EXITS AND WINDOW RETENTION AND RELEASE."
The risk: IN THE EVENT OF AN EMERGENCY, EGRESS OF THE BUS MAY BE HINDERED POSSIBLY RESULTING IN INJURY TO THE VEHICLE OCCUPANTS.
The remedy: ARBOC WILL NOTIFY OWNERS. SPECIALTY MANUFACTURING, INC. WILL PROVIDE SERVICE KITS ALONG WITH REPAIR INSTRUCTIONS TO DEALERS AND OWNERS, FREE OF CHARGE. THE SAFETY RECALL BEGAN ON JUNE 27, 2012. OWNERS MAY CONTACT ARBOC AT 1-574-825-1720 OR SMI AT 1-800-951-7867.

SUSPENSION

AR861-Upper Shock/Track Bar Mount Inspection and Repair. Complaint-Upper plates previously installed in AR839 are cracking and pulling away from frame. Cause-Insuffiecient/bad welds not holding under loads. Correction-Inspect/correct welds including drilling 1/8" stop holes into frame at the end of cracks and weld per procedure. Vehicles Affected-All Spirit of Mobility (SOM) units with Reyco Granning rear suspension where AR839 has already been completed.

STRUCTURE:FRAME AND MEMBERS

AR860-Front Pivot Mount Inspection and Repair. Complaint-Pivot mount bolts having repeated premature failure. Cause-Spring pivot bolt movement allowed by elongated mounting hole. Correction-Inspect/replace bolt. Labor allowance 2 hours per unit. Vehicles affected-Units that have completed AR831 and built with the front pivot mount bolted to the ARBOC frame without welding. (Buses between SO# 2202 and 2736)

ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING

AR856-Customer concern about location of Thomas Compressor in wet areas. Cause-Engineering design for placement. Correction- Relocate Thomas Compressor to driver side rear of vehicle.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM

AR854-Change Electrical Body to Aux Battery Connections. Complaint-Electrical body connections tied to starter battery instead of aux battery. Cause-Electrical design. Correction-Relocate battery connection and add jumper harness between circuit breaker and solenoid. Vehicles Affected Chevy SOM/SOF.

SUSPENSION

AR844-Lower Shock Bracket Replacement-Complaint-Restricted shock compression with new upper shock mount location (AR839). Cause-New location of upper shock bracket completed in AR839 (if completed previously). Correction-Remove both existing lower shock brackets and replace. Affects all SOM units with Reyco Granning rear suspension.

AR847-Loose Thermo King Power & Ground Lugs Inspection-Repair. Complaint-Power/Ground lugs looseat connection points at circuit breaker or ground bar. Cause-Lugs incorrectly crimped or loose connections at circuit breaker or ground bar. Correction-Review lugs for secure installation and lug crimp (repair as needed)
