2000 Audi Tt Tires & wheels Problems

Owner-reported complaints naming the tire or wheel system, filed with NHTSA

Data refreshed

Tires & wheels reportsComplaints are reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a complaint does not establish that a defect exists. Volume is influenced by how many of a vehicle were sold, how long it has been on the road, and how much attention an issue has received.

I OWN A 2000 AUDI TT AND THE AUDI DEALER SERVICE CONFIRMS THAT THE TT'S INSTRUMENT PANEL HAS AN INTERNAL PROBLEM WHICH REQUIRES REPLACEMENT OF THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER AT A COST ESTIMATE OF $1193.13. THE TT HAS A KNOWN INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FAILURE PROBLEM AND AUDI HAS PROVIDED RELIEF TO OWNERS REGARDING THE INSTRUMENT FAILURE IN BOTH THE UK AND THE US. THE CAR HAS LESS THAN 75,000 MILE ON IT AND INSTRUMENT FAILURE AT THIS LOW MILEAGE IS UNACCEPTABLE. AUDI SAYS THE CAR IS OUT OF WARRANTY AND THEY WOULD DO NOTHING, WHICH SEEMS LIKE A RIDICULOUS RESPONSE AS THE PROBLEMS AFFECTS THE SPEEDOMETER AND SAFETY WARNING LIGHTS. THE INSTRUMENT PANEL CAN ONLY BE REPLACED BY THE DEALER TO PRESERVE AUTO SETTINGS. THIS TYPE OF SAFETY DEFECT SHOULD BE THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE MANUFACTURER. *TR

BOTH TIRES BLEW OUT AND DAMAGED THE WHEELS AT A VERY LOW SPEED AFTER HITTING AN INSIGNIFICANT BUMP IN THE ROAD. SIDEWALL BLEW OUT OF BOTH TIRES CAUSING DRIVER TO LOSE CONTROL. LUCKILY, THERE WAS NO INJURY OR OTHER PROPERTY DAMAGE. THESE TIRES HAVE BEEN REPORTED WITH MANY SIDEWALL FAILURES BY OTHER AUDI TT OWNERS. I HAVE CONTACTED AUDI WHO REFUSES TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT.*AK (TIRESIZE: 225/45/17)( DOT NUMBER: TIRE SIZE: 225/45/17 )

RIGHT FRONT TIRE EXPLODED WHEN TRAVELLING ABOUT 50 MPH, THIS CAUSED THE CAR TO SWERVE ABRUPTLY TO RIGHT AND ONLY AFTER GREAT DIFFICULTY I WAS ABLE TO REGAIN CONTROL. BLOWOUT HAPPENED DURING MORNING TRAFFIC ON I-90 AND I DIDN'T HIT POTHOLE OR ANY OTHER OBJECT. ACCIDENT WAS ONLY AVOIDED BECAUSE I WAS DRIVING ON THE RIGHT LANE, SO SWEVE TOOK ME ONTO THE SHOULDER.*AK (TIRESIZE: 225/45R17)( DOT NUMBER: TIRE SIZE: 225/45R17 )
