2007 BMW G650X Challenge Owner Complaints

Reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers, shown in full

Data refreshed

Complaints on fileComplaints are reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a complaint does not establish that a defect exists. Volume is influenced by how many of a vehicle were sold, how long it has been on the road, and how much attention an issue has received.

TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 BMW G650X CHALLENGE. WHILE RIDING AT ANY SPEED THE MOTORCYCLE RANDOMLY SHUTS OFF AND LOSES ALL POWER, INCLUDING THE BRAKE LIGHTS. THE FAILURE HAS OCCURRED TWICE. THE CONTACT CONSIDERS THIS TO BE A SAFETY ISSUE BECAUSE IT COULD CAUSE A REAR END CRASH WHILE TRAVELING AT HIGH SPEEDS. THE MOTORCYCLE HAS BEEN TOWED TWICE TO THE BMW DEALER AND THEY CONTINUE TO REPLACE THE FUSE THAT HAS SHORTED OUT AT THE TIME. THEY STATED THAT THIS WAS THE ONLY REMEDY THAT COULD BE PERFORMED AT THAT MOMENT SINCE THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE DUPLICATED. THE VEHICLE IS CURRENTLY AT THE DEALER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 700 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 830. UPDATED 11-19-08 *BF UPDATED 11/19/08.*JB
