The defect: CHAMPION BUS HAS NOTIFIED NHTSA OF A DEFECT IN CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2006-2010 BUSES EQUIPPED WITH TRANS/AIR AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEMS INSTALLED BETWEEN MAY 2006 AND JUNE 2009. EACH TRANS/AIR SYSTEM COMES WITH AN ELECTRICAL KIT WHICH CONTAINS A RELAY BOARD AND EC PC BOARD WHICH IF IMPROPERLY INSTALLED COULD OVERHEAT.
The risk: AN ELECTRICAL FAILURE IN THE RELAY BOARD, CAN CAUSE OVERHEATING AND POSE A SERIOUS FIRE HAZARD.
The remedy: TRANS AIR WILL NOTIFY THE OWNERS AND THE BUSES WILL BE REPAIRED FREE OF CHARGE. PLEASE ALSO SEE TRANS/AIR DEFECT REPORT 09E-042. THE SAFETY RECALL BEGAN ON MAY 19, 2010. OWNERS MAY CONTACT TRANS/AIR WARRANTY AND SERVICE DEPARTMENT AT 1-800-673- 2446.

The defect: CHAMPION BUS IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2003 THROUGH 2010 TRANSIT BUSES MANUFACTURED BETWEEN JANUARY 2003 AND AUGUST 2009 EQUIPPED WITH LUMINATOR HORIZON LED SIDE DESTINATION SIGNS. THE CONNECTOR BOARD CAN CORRODE DUE TO AN ACCUMULATION OF MOISTURE UNDER THE CONNECTOR.
The risk: A SHORT COULD OCCUR, POSSIBLY CAUSING SMOKE AND FIRE.
The remedy: CHAMPION BUS WILL NOTIFY OWNERS AND LUMINATOR WILL REPAIR THE BUSES FREE OF CHARGE. PLEASE SEE LUMINATOR'S DEFECT REPORT 09E-054. THE SAFETY RECALL BEGAN ON DECEMBER 11, 2009. OWNERS MAY CONTACT LUMINATOR AT 1-972-516-3033 OR CHAMPION BUS AT 1-800-331-5761.

TUESDAY, DECEMBER 20. BUS 8014 (2010 INTERNATIONAL 3200 BUS) WAS PLACED INTO BUS SERVICE. APPROX. 10:47 AM DRIVER CALLED BUS SHOP TO REPORT THAT THE REAR BRAKES WERE SMOKING. WHEN TECH ARRIVED APPROX 45 MINUTES LATER THE REAR BRAKES WERE AT 140 DEGREES (RIGHT REAR) AND 220 DEGREES ON LEFT REAR. THE BUS WAS TAKEN BACK TO HICKORY INTERNATIONAL. ALL OF THE BUSSES LISTED HAVE HAD A HISTORY OF THE REAR BRAKES SMOKING (SEEMS TO ONLY OCCUR WITH A FULL LOAD OF PASSENGERS) AND THE PASSENGER COMPARTMENT FILLING WITH SMOKE TO THE POINT WHERE THEY EVACUATE THE BUSSES. ALL OF THE BUSSES HAVE BEEN INSPECTED/UPFITTED AT THE LOCAL INTERNATIONAL (HICKORY INTERNATIONAL) DEALERSHIP WITH THE LATEST FACTORY AUTHORIZED BRAKE PARTS INSTALLED PER NAVISTAR. SEATS

The mounting bolt to install the Freedman driver?s seat to the Ford OEM seat track may not have been sufficiently tightened during installation.
