2019 Chevrolet Blazer Driver assistance Problems

Owner-reported complaints naming the driver-assistance system, filed with NHTSA

Data refreshed

Driver assistance reportsComplaints are reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a complaint does not establish that a defect exists. Volume is influenced by how many of a vehicle were sold, how long it has been on the road, and how much attention an issue has received.

The transmission or torque converter has slippage and shuddering that has caused one or both to go bad. My safety was at risk due to this item beginning to fail to cause the inability to accelerate to maintain my position in traffic. The problem was recreated for the service technician. There was no warning or indication before this became an issue.

My vehicle is breaking on its own. There are other vehicles riding behind me and it just stops out of nowhere. I think that's dangerous. I can be driving and I'm thinking I'm OK driving in a vehicle. Just just hit on break. I don't know where I just stops and while I'm driving and I think that's very dangerous

engine - code p0128 engine coolant thermostat. This is a safety issue because it reduces the power steering on vehicle, auto stop stopped working, unable to remote start vehicle. Issue has been confirmed at an independent service center (I work at an auto collision center). Warning lamp - check engine light. Message on dash - power steering reduced. Appears everything came on at the same time. Per dealership items most likely needing replacement are engine coolant thermostat and engine coolant temperature sensor but ecm module could also need replacement. Advised common problem but no recall power train - transmission shutters when accelerating. Safety is at risk because vehicle will not accelerate or accelerate too quickly. Called to dealership advise flush transmission fluid twice to fix issue. We have done this 4 times in the past year. Shutter temporarily reduces but does not go away. Per service advisor it is a "function design" and if flushing transmission fluid does not fix issue then transmission will need to be replaced. There are no warning lights or messages on dash electrical - vehicle says shift to park when vehicle is in park and will not allow vehicle to turn off. It is a safety issue because vehicle will not shut off. Problem confirmed by an independent service center we have already replaced the in-line wire harness jumper. This did not fix the issue. Advised from service center that entire shifter would need to be replaced.

1. Wire harness with coil wires is the problem. It was fixed by a local shop and the vehicle can be inspected if needed. 2. The car throws a code for a faulty thermostat/coolant temp sensor. This will not allow the car get to oporating temp and could cause engine damage or not perform properly causing risk of an accident. Also this will reduce the driver assist features such as lane assist and adaptive cruise/braking. 3. Yes. 4. A local shop inspected the thermostat and coolant temp sensor and they oporated as they should. 5. The engine light comes on for the reasons mentioned above. It also has a "driver assist reduced" message. It appeared randomly while driving and stayed on for multiple days. Vehicle had a code for a bad thermostat/coolant temp sensor and "driver assist reduced" message. The cause is NOT the temp sensor or thermostat and is actually a wiring harness that two wires need to be separated from the bunch. The frequency from one wire interferes with the coolant temp sensor wires. I am on several forums for chevy blazers and there are TONS of posts about this issue with the 3.6 V6. Most people will go in and have these expensice parts replaced. It is not acceptable to have people get charged for a $800+ job when the part is not faulty.

I bought a 2019 Chevy Blazer in February 2023 . The vehicle has issues when I fill it with gas. As soon as I gas up to full it starts jerking immediately afterwards. It makes loud popping sounds. The engine dies completely. It starts to tremble and will not go. When I try to turn in back on , the starter works very hard before it will turn back on. It does turn back on eventually but I have to pull over to the side and accelerate the engine until it finally stays on. I drives that way turning off at lights and stops. After about 10-15 minutes of this , it finally stays on long enough to drive another 20 minutes or so to get home. After it rests for a few hours, it goes like normal. This is a big safety concern for me since these episodes happen every week when I fill up my car with gas. I have almost been hit from behind during these episodes and it is very scary and such a hassle to have to deal with this every week. I have already had several Chevy dealers and mechanics work on this problem and it continues to act up like this. I have all the paperwork for the work that has been done. $15, 000 have already been spent on this problem and the problem still continues. Please help me. I like chevy vehicles and have always bought chevy but this is the second chevy vehicle that has given me problems when I gas up. Please look into this problem. When attempting to put my car in PARK, the car issues a warning stating the car is not in PARK, it doesn't recognize the gear shift being in park, therefore, I am unable to shut my car off or lock it up. It is a known manufacturing defect and GM refuses to cover the cost to add a bandaid to it as there is no permanent fix. This is a safety issue, and now my car is not reliable, nor safe. GM refuses to issue a recall on this.

I took my vehicle to the dealership for the recommended oil change on 09/15/2023. I am extremely good about keeping up on the routine maintenance. Upon arrival, the technician asked if I knew that my check engine light was on. I stated no, it was not on during my drive in and has not been on previously whatsoever. I scheduled a diagnostic for 09/20/2023 and brought it back to the dealership with 68,191 being the mileage. It was determined that my thermostat needs to be replaced. I then began receiving the message Steering Assist is Reduced" which is very unsettling. I am finding that a lot of newer model 2019+ Chevy Blazer owners are struggling with the exact same temperature issue, even those with way fewer mileage than mine for example a person who just had 25K on theirs. This needs to be taken more seriously / addressed further by the manufacturer.

When slowing down (at the end of a street for example) foot is on the brake but the car will jerk and engine revs as if it is trying to still accelerate forward without moving the gas pedal. The rpms increase. No warning lights, vehicle has been inspected. No issue found by dealership.

WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE, AN AIRBAG ALERT GOES OFF RECOMMENDING SERVICE. IT DOES NOT MATTER WHAT SPEED I'M DRIVING, OR NECESSARILY THE WEATHER. BUT IT DOES TEND TO GO OFF MORE FREQUENTLY IF IT'S HOT OR COLD OUT. I HAVE BROUGHT THE VEHICLE IN FOR SERVICE, BUT THEY CAN'T SEEM TO FIGURE IT OUT. ALSO, WHILE DRIVING, AN ADAPTIVE CRUISE ALERT GOES OFF AT TIMES. I HAVE SERVICED THE VEHICLE AT LEAST THREE TIMES FOR THIS. IT IS HAPPENING LESS, BUT STILL HAPPENING.
