Data refreshed
Reports naming forward-collision avoidance, lane keeping, back-over prevention, cruise control and related electronic driver-assistance systems. Every record below is an owner-reported complaint about the 2024 Chevrolet Blazer submitted to NHTSA — not a confirmed defect, not a recall and not a manufacturer bulletin. 14 reports on file name it.
Complaints are reports submitted by owners and drivers to NHTSA. They are not verified and do not establish that a defect exists.

The contact owns a 2024 Chevrolet Blazer. The contact stated that while driving 52 MPH, the brake pedal was depressed; however, the vehicle failed to stop as intended. The contact stated that the vehicle independently accelerated and there was an abnormal clicking sound. The brakes eventually responded, and the vehicle stopped. The contact stated that the failure lasted for approximately five miles. The contact's two minor grandchildren were inside the vehicle during the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 48,100.
There was a wreck up ahead, and two tow trucks with their emergency lights flashing were blocking the left two lanes. Traffic was stop-and-go due to the existing wreck. I was traveling in the lane to the right of the tow trucks as I approached. I stopped about 1–2 car lengths behind them. When traffic started to move, I began to move forward and advanced about a car length when the automatic emergency braking (AEB) activated and slammed on the brakes, even though the path in front of me was clear. The person behind me rear-ended me. Luckily, no one was physically hurt, but there is damage to our car that now has to be repaired, along with all the headache that brings. If this had happened at higher speeds, it could have resulted in serious injuries. My family’s safety and the safety of others are definitely at risk because of this phantom braking. I would welcome an inspection of the black box and AEB. Feel free to contact me if you can facilitate this. The vehicle has not been inspected by anyone yet. There were no warning lamps or messages prior to the phantom braking. However, this has happened previously; this is the first time it resulted in a wreck. From what I’ve seen online, this appears to be a common problem, and the dealership does not have a definitive fix.
The contact owns a 2024 Chevrolet Blazer. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle experienced phantom braking on four separate occasions. The Forward Collision Avoidance warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, but the cause of the failure could not be determined. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 40,000.
The contact owns a 2024 Chevrolet Blazer EV. The contact stated that while driving approximately 45 MPH and depressing the brake pedal to reduce speed, the vehicle failed to respond as intended and crashed into the rear end of a second vehicle at approximately 5 MPH. Moments later, a third vehicle crashed into the rear of the contact's vehicle. The contact was not injured during the crash. The occupant of the third vehicle sustained an unknown injury. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed the residence and was later towed to a repair shop. The third vehicle was towed to an undisclosed location. The local dealer was not contacted. The cause of the failure was not determined. The manufacturer was notified of failure. The failure mileage was 5,500.
The front camera lens cover — located in the grille below the Chevy bowtie logo — has developed a spiderwebbed/shattered crack pattern. There is no impact damage to the surrounding grille or bodywork. The vehicle was garaged and not in use when the damage was discovered. The camera appears to still be working and parts of the image are crystal clear but the cracks in the cover distort the picture and make it impossible to use reliably. This is consistent with a material defect, not road damage. I have opened a case with GM Customer Care regarding this defect. My case number is: XXX. Contining with issue referenced in 11701484. This morning (1/28/26) when leaving my home, I backed out of my driveway. Once I put the car into drive, the forward collision warning went off and locked up my car. The brakes would not release and I could not move out of the way of oncoming traffic. I do not know what allowed the brakes to finally release. I changed over to 4x4, put it into park and back to drive. My car finally was then allowed to move.
I have found multiple times that the Instrument Panel (IPC) display and the center Infotainment displays have gone dark while driving. This has put me in unsafe driving situations because I am unable to monitor my speed and other important information displayed on the dashboard, or to control critical safety controls such as headlights, and other ADAS safety controls. Several software updates have been installed by the dealership, but the problem has persisted, suggesting a hardware issue with the radio unit. The manufacture insist it is a software problem and that they are working on a solution. Declining to replace the radio under warranty, additionally, they want me to wait until a new update is released, and in the meantime, my bumper-to-bumper warranty is about to expire. I have found that the radio unit is the main control module for both displays, multiple ADAS controls, and Headlights, and it should be recalled, with the manufacturer extending the warranty or including the radio as a safety feature under the extended powertrain warranty.
Chevy of Wasilla, AK did not properly inspect a safety recall for the rear parking brake harness. After I showed the dealership the pictures of the holes in the brake harness, I was told that the holes in the brake harness is a feature to let water out. Pictures are attached of said holes in brake harness and text message with dealership representative.
The contact owns a 2024 Chevrolet Blazer. The contact stated that while driving 30 MPH on an icy road, the vehicle swerved out of the intended lane because of an ice patch on the road. The contact lost control of the vehicle, and the vehicle continued to swerve, almost causing a crash. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a dealer, where the contact was informed that the vehicle needed a 4-wheel alignment. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, and the contact was informed that there were no recalls on the VIN related to the failure. The contact was then referred to the NHTSA Hotline to file a complaint. The vehicle was repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 22,000.
The auto emergency braking engaged while making a left turn. No cars in front. Had someone been behind me, they could have easily hit me. The seat belt locked as well resulting in being able to feel the seat belt inprint hours afterwards. This incident just happened on 11/24/25 and has not be inspected by any dealership or service center. There were no warning lights or messages prior to the incident.
When making left hand turn the AEB activated for no obvious reason almost causing rear end collision chain reaction for traffic behind making same left hand turn.
I was driving down the highway at 70mph using the adaptive cruise control. There was nobody in front of me, and suddenly the vehicle started picking up speed. I looked at the cruise control and it said 115mph, so I hit the brakes to override it and slow down. when I reset it for , ~70mph again it worked fine. This happened to me two other times with the same basic scenario. The speed is always over 100mph, and it always occurs when the adaptive cruise control has been in use for at least 30 minutes. I have an appt with the dealer that I bought it from to have it looked at. No warning lights and no other symptoms.
On the evening of [XXX], I was making a left hand turn onto [XXX] from [XXX]. I was the second car in line on the left turn green arrow. The first car went to the right lane. I went into the left lane. My car immediately flashed the light in the front window, the alarm went off, and slammed the brakes as if something was in front of me. Nothing was in front of my car in the left lane. Luckily there wasn't a car on my rear bumper otherwise I would have been rear-ended. This is the 2nd time at the same intersection making the same turn that my Blazer has done that. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
Higher-selling and older vehicles accumulate more reports. Counts are not failure rates and are not directly comparable between vehicles that sold in very different numbers.
