What this page shows
Everything below is an owner-reported complaint submitted to NHTSA about the 2020 Chevrolet Camaro, grouped by the component NHTSA recorded on the report. These are not confirmed defects, and they are not recalls. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a category with more reports in it is not evidence that a part is defective.
Complaints are reports submitted by owners and drivers to NHTSA. They are not verified and do not establish that a defect exists.

From owner reports, verbatim
The contact owns a 2020 Chevrolet Camaro. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the wheels locked up and the vehicle was uncontrollable. The contact stated several unknown warning lights were illuminated. The contact's vehicle crashed into a guardrail. In addition, the front passenger's side and rear passenger's side tires fractured and detached. Prior to the incident (vehicle crash), immediately after the vehicle was purchased (March 2023), it was taken back to the dealership several times due to a slight noise and sensation the wheels and brakes were making. The issue was internment, and the dealership insisted they were unable to replicate the issue. It felt as if the wheels were momentarily locking when slowing down to apply the brakes. We thought it was a brake issue, but the dealership assured us the brakes were ok. Due to the ongoing issue with the interment, we decided to purchase new tires that were the recommended size for the vehicle, rather than the original tires it Recently (on 09/5/2024), we upgraded the wheels and tires to wider OEM spec wheels in an effort to improve the vehicle's efficiency during driving and braking. On May 25, 2025, after a vehicle brake-checked the vehicle in front of our Camaro, the Camaro was unable to adequately perform the brake operation due to wheel lockup, resulting in an accident. While the vehicle in front of our Camaro managed to maneuver out of the way, the Camaro's wheels locked when decreasing speed to apply the brakes. When brakes were applied despite only traveling at 37-40 mph, the Camaro felt like it was not slowing down, as if the brakes were not working correctly. Forcing a maneuver to the left side, scraping and damaging the front and rear wheels/tires, and impacting the rear end of a 2021 Chevrolet Spark. The Camaro suffered substantial damage exceeding 19,000, and our son, the driver, sustained physical injuries. Unfortunately, we were NOT notified of the recall # N242480630, until June 2 2025 many days after the accident. We received the notification via the OnStar service we pay for, and a few days after via the Progressive Insurance app. A police report was filed, my son was ticketed for failing to control the vehicle, and the insurance deemed it an at-fault accident (due to being a rear-end collision). The vehicle has been deemed a total loss.

Exterior lighting
Reports naming headlights, tail lights, turn signals and other exterior lighting.
From owner reports, verbatim
The contact owns a 2020 Chevrolet Camaro. The contact stated that the passenger’s side daytime running light bulb was blown. The contact called two dealers and an independent mechanic and was informed that the passenger’s side headlight module had to be replaced to repair the failure. The contact stated that the cost of repair was too expensive for a single light bulb. Due to the failure, the contact stated that nighttime driving visibility was limited. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 62,000.
My carmaro has only 47,750 miles and five years old and I do not drive it that much. However, about a year and half ago the left headlight and daylamp is out. This have to be a manufactire issue, and when I talk to dealeship service dept the cost to repair the problem is $2,300, this just to expensive for a car that does not have a lot of miles on it.

Suspension
Reports naming suspension components — springs, struts, shocks, control arms and related hardware.
From owner reports, verbatim
The camber plate nut fell off inside the shock causing me to lose control and go through a field. The camber plate is the only thing holding the strut to the vehicle and should have had a locknut from the factory as it's nothing more than a ball joint. It is available to inspect. It caused me to lose all control when it separated. I own a garage and confirmed failure myself. No i called Chevy about it and even asked if they wanted to send a factory rep out to look at it. I was told no and the only way they might be able to do anything is if i take it to the dealer for repairs. It was giving a small clunk at times that i thought was normal characteristics of the aggressive suspension. I do have pictures showing the failure as well if you would like them.
WHILE BACKING UP AND TURNING IN A PARKING LOT HEARD A POP GOT OUT AND FOUND MY LEFT FRONT LOWER BALL JOINT FAILED. NOTHING WAS HIT WHEEL AND TIRE OKAY . DEALER SAID I MUST HAVE HIT SOMETHING BUT ONCE AGAIN NO DAMAGE TO THE CAR

Transmission
Reports naming the automatic or manual transmission, including shifting behaviour, shudder, slipping and transmission control modules.
From owner reports, verbatim
The contact owns a 2020 Chevrolet Camaro. The contact stated while shifting into gears to pull out of a parking space, the vehicle failed to respond. The vehicle was taken to an unknown dealer, where the TCM was replaced. Additionally, the contact stated that while reversing out of a parking space, the vehicle accelerated unintendedly. The contact stated that the brake pedal was depressed, but failed to respond. The vehicle hit a brick wall and crashed into an unoccupied parked vehicle, which then pushed an occupied vehicle. There was no warning light illuminated. The side air bags deployed. There was no injury sustained. A police report was filed. It was unknown whether there was property damage. The vehicle was towed to Caliber Collision and was awaiting an insurance adjuster assessment. The contact had received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 15V148000(Power Train), which the contact related to the failure; however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The local dealer and the manufacturer were not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 5,000. VIN tool confirms parts not available.
The contact owns a 2020 Chevrolet Camaro. The contact called on behalf of the driver who was his daughter. The contact stated while the driver was driving at approximately 45 MPH the performance shifted activated causing her to lose control of the vehicle. The vehicle drifted and caused it to hit a vehicle in front. There was a performance shift warning light illuminated. There were no air bags deployed. The entire front end of the vehicle was damaged. There were no major injuries, but pains on the driver's back. There was no police report or medical treatment. There was no diagnosis regarding the failure. The vehicle was towed to the repair shop, which repaired the damages. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The VIN was not available. The approximate failure mileage was 21,000.

BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR DURING A TRACK DAY. THE CAMARO WAS A 1LE TRACK PACKAGE AND GM SELLS IT WITH A WARRANTY FOR TRACK AS WELL AS INSTRUCTIONS FOR CHANGES TO THINGS INCLUDING MOVING TO A DOT 4 BRAKE FLUID. I HAD DONE THAT. I HAVE VIDEO OF THE ACCIDENT. I ALSO HAVE FOUND IT'S HAPPENED TO OTHERS AS WELL, PERFECT BRAKES ONE CORNER, NONE THE NEXT. AND I HAVE VIDEO FROM IN CAR FROM THAT PERSON AS WELL. CAR TURNED RIGHT UPON SECOND APPLICATION OF THE BRAKES, SLIDE SIDEWAYS INTO ANOTHER CAR, THEN ROLLED. I HAVE VIDEO, AND PICTURES OF THE AFTERMATH. LF WHEEL WAS RIPPED OFF THE CAR, TEARING THE BRAKE LINE AWAY AND LOSING ALL THE FLUID AFTER THE FACT. CAR HAD 1680 MILES ON IT ABOUT 20 MINUTES BEFORE WHEN I HAD LOOKED AT THE ODOMETER. AFTER ACCIDENT THE POWER WAS CUT AND COULD NOT SEE ANY OF THAT.
