2024 Chevrolet Equinox EV Visibility Problems

The dash allows for significant amount of glare that reflects in bright sunlight and impare visibility through the windshield.

The 2 problems that I am reporting are visibility issues. There are situations when it is very difficult to see out of this car. When bright sunshine comes through the windshield it reflects off of the dashboard making it almost impossible to see out. Pedestrians are very difficult to see and it's very dangerous to continue driving. The second problem is that the driver and passenger side windows are deeply tinted. I thought that this is illegal. At night the windows are so dark that you cannot see autos or pedestrians in intersections. I find that I have to roll down the windows so that I can safely see before proceeding through the intersection. I'm not sure what I'm going to do in the winter or a driving rainstorm. I have found that wearing polarized sunglasses helps with the windshield problem but only replacing the side windows will the tinted window problem be fixed.

We love the car and would buy it again - BUT - it has one significant problem which is in-fact a safety problem. Anytime the sun is shining on the dashboard there is a major reflection on the windshield. See the attached photo which was made as we were pulling into the garage. It was 12:41 PM EDT on July 17th, about a half hour before solar noon. The car is pointed at approximately 85 degrees (almost due east) and the sun is about 90 degrees to our right. This is a extreme case of the reflection because the garage is darker than ambient. It is almost impossible to view where we are going. But the excessive reflection is always there when the sun is shining on the dash. It is my opinion that the car need some sort of anti reflective surface. The contact owns a 2024 Chevrolet Equinox EV. The contact stated that the front windshield would display lines across the windshield from left to right. The contact stated that the failure obstructed driving visibility and prevented the safe operation the vehicle. The contact stated that the glare of the sun on the dashboard was reflected on the front windshield. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer or an independent mechanic to be diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.

While driving my 2024 Chevy Equinox EV, intense glare reflects off the dashboard and windshield under certain lighting conditions, especially in sunlight. This glare creates severe visibility issues, at times completely blinding the driver and making it unsafe to operate the vehicle. The issue poses a significant safety risk not only to me but to other drivers and pedestrians. The problem is consistent and reproducible, but no warning messages or indicators are shown. I have not yet had it formally inspected by the manufacturer or dealer, but the issue appears to be a design flaw affecting visibility. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request.

Glare from the sun on the dash causes blindness and unable to safely see out of the windshield. It's a safety hazard to operate and unsafe for anyone else on he road when the sun hits it. Test drove and bought the car on a cloudy day and the first time the sun hit my dash I nearly rear ended the car in front of me. Emergency braking system activated to avoid a collision due to me not being able to see the brake lights in front of me even though I was wearing sunglasses

When driving in a direction that is nearly aligned with the sun, the reflection off the dashboard presents a hologram-like image onto the windshield which obstructs the drivers view. It looks like it’s caused by the textured pattern of the dashboard. My wife typically drives the car, and we’re just coming out of overcast days so this is the first time I’ve really noticed how bad it is.

Glare on the windshield from the dash is a major problem in this vehicle. Upon searching for remedies, I've found dozens upon dozens (probably well over 100) of unique posts, videos and comments all regarding this issue. I just purchased this vehicle two days ago and I turned south on to a busy street earlier today and I could barely see and had to immediately pull off to a side street and find a way to cover the dash (I used my hoodie) to get home. This is dangerous. A guy even makes a mat for this problem: [XXX] But in my opinion, GM needs to fix this in a recall. My Chevrolet Equinox EV 2RS has glare on the front windshield due to design grille on the area below front windshield. So there is extreme glare depending on the direction of sunlight hitting that area. So I strongly feel this is a security issue for all drivers on the road and GM should alleviate this with a solution. Please advise.

Highly reflective interior glass makes using the side mirrors impossible in common sunny conditions. Unable to see cars and blind spot monitoring light. Incident occurred where I merged into car after straining to use mirror to ensure area was clear. Also, reflection from interior in certina condition make forward visibility dangerous.

The angle and possibly the material of the windshield catches a glare/reflection of the dash that heavily affects visibility for the driver. When there is a bright light shining on the dash it is almost impossible to see past the glare. This can be a real hazard as this obstructs the drivers view of the road.

There is a severe glare that reflects off of the dash board component. It reduces visibility greatly, and sometimes makes it hard to drive. Other individuals with this car (on forums such as Reddit) have the same issue with this glare.

The dashboard reflects onto the windshield especially when it is sunny and makes it difficult to see through the windshield. The "texture" of the dashboard reflects sunlight into the windshield. We placed a black, non-reflective, cloth on the dashboard to alleviate this situation but this is not a permanent fix.
