2010 Chevrolet Express 3500 Problems

Owner-reported complaints filed with NHTSA, grouped by component

Data refreshed

Owner complaintsComplaints are reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a complaint does not establish that a defect exists. Volume is influenced by how many of a vehicle were sold, how long it has been on the road, and how much attention an issue has received.

What this page shows

Everything below is an owner-reported complaint submitted to NHTSA about the 2010 Chevrolet Express 3500, grouped by the component NHTSA recorded on the report. These are not confirmed defects, and they are not recalls. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a category with more reports in it is not evidence that a part is defective.

Complaints are reports submitted by owners and drivers to NHTSA. They are not verified and do not establish that a defect exists.

SOMETIMES WHEN ATTEMPTING TO START THE ENGINE, IT WILL TURN OVER BUT NOT START. THE MALFUNCTION INDICATOR LIGHT COMES ON AND A ENGINE REDUCED POWER MESSAGE WILL ILLUMINATE. IF THE ENGINE STARTS, IT WILL RUN ROUGH, THE LIGHT WILL BE ON AND STAY ON, AND THE ENGINE REDUCED POWER MESSAGE WILL APPEAR. I HAD A MECHANIC CHECK FOR ANY CODES AND HE CAME UP WITH P1682, WHICH INDICATES AN IGNITION SWITCH PROBLEM. GM HAS A RECALL OUT FOR THIS CONDITION (11273), WHICH REFERS TO THE THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR CAUSING THIS PROBLEM. HOWEVER A FAULTY IGNITION SWITCH CAUSES THE SAME PROBLEM, BUT THEY WON'T FIX IT. IF THE VEHICLE IS BEING DRIVEN WHEN THIS PROBLEM OCCURS WITH THE LOSS OF ENGINE POWER AND ROUGH RUNNING, IT SEEMS THAT THE VEHICLE, IN MY CASE AN RV, WOULD LOSE SPEED AND ALMOST SLOW TO A STOP WHICH WOULD BE VERY DANGEROUS. GM RECOGNIZES THAT THIS PROBLEM CAN OCCUR, BUT ARE NOT CONCERNED THAT IT CAN OCCUR UNDER MORE THAN ONE CONDITION. UNLESS THE CODE COMES UP 11273 AS THE PROBLEM, THEY WILL TAKE NO RESPONSIBILITY TO FIX IT EVEN THOUGH THE CODE 1682 PRODUCES THE SAME SITUATION CAUSING THE MALFUNCTION LIGHT TO COME ON AND STAY ON AND THE MESSAGE ENGINE REDUCED POWER TO APPEAR AND THE ENGINE RUNS ROUGH OR WON'T START AT ALL. *TR
