1996 Chevrolet K15 Owner Complaints

Reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers, shown in full

Data refreshed

Complaints on fileComplaints are reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a complaint does not establish that a defect exists. Volume is influenced by how many of a vehicle were sold, how long it has been on the road, and how much attention an issue has received.

What this page shows

Our database holds 7 NHTSA owner-reported complaints for the 1996 Chevrolet K15. Each one is a report filed by an owner or driver and published by NHTSA without most of them being verified. 98V150001 SHOULD COVER 4WD K1500 SAME FAILURE OCCURS WITH THESE MODELS AS THE SAME UNIT IS INVOLVED. DEALER WON'T FIX BECAUSE "ITS NOT COVERED UNDER RECALL". THIS IS AN OVERSIGHT BY NHTSA AND THE 4WD PROBABLY HAS A GREATER FAILURE OCCURANCE SINCE THE FAILURE MODE IS THE SOLDER JOINTS FAILING DUE TO VIBRATION/ SHOCK, WHICH ON A 4WD I WOULD THINK IT TO BE WORSE. IN THE HTSA DISCRIPTION IT SAYS 2WD AND 4WD VEHICLES BUT GM IS ONLY COVERING 2WD. SO I GUESS I HAVE TO ASK WHY ??
