2002 Chevrolet S Series Owner Complaints

Reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers, shown in full

Data refreshed

Complaints on fileComplaints are reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a complaint does not establish that a defect exists. Volume is influenced by how many of a vehicle were sold, how long it has been on the road, and how much attention an issue has received.

What this page shows

MY 5-SPEED MANUAL TRANSMISSION GAVE LOUD AUDIBLE NOISES SIGNALING MAJOR TROUBLE. I BROUGHT THE VEHICLE TO THE LOCAL DEALER MCFARLAND MURRAY IN GRAYSON ,KY. A TECHNICNICIAN VERIFIED THE PROBLEM AND RECCOMENDED IMMEDIATE SERVICE, AND HE SAID THE 2002 CHEVROLET S10 SHOULD NOT BE DRIVEN. THE SEVICE MANAGER SAID THE NEXT AVAILABLE DATE TO HAVE THE WARRANTY WORK PERFORMED WOULD BE 2 WEEKS FROM THAT DAY, 21 SEPTEMBER 2004. I INQUIRED ABOUT A LOANER VEHICLE AND WAS DENIED BY THEM SAYING THAT WAS NOT THEIR POLICY. MY ORIGINAL WARRANTY IS STILL IN EFFECT WITH ONLY 27,000 MILES ON THE VEHICLE. I HAD ALSO PURCHASED THE MOST COMPREHENSIVE EXTENSIVE WARRANTY FOR THIS VEHICLE. I NOW HAVE NO TRANSPORTATION . THE ICING ON THE CAKE IS MY MOTHER IS IN THE HOSPITAL 40 MILES FROM MY HOME WITH NO WAY TO GET THERE. I AM TOTALLY DISATISFIED WITH THE SITUATION. IF THERE IS ANY ASSISTANCE OUT THERE PLEASE CONTACT ME AT 606-475-0358. 602 N CAROL MALONE BLVD SUITE # 10, GRAYSON, KY 41143.*AK

THE THIRD DOOR RELEASE LATCH HAS BEEN REPLACED TWICE FOR THE SAME REASON. THE LATCH ITSELF BROKE WHERE THE LINKAGE TO OPEN THE DOOR IS STRAINED AND HAS BECOME FATIGUED AND BROKE. THE DEALER AT ONE POINT CLAIMED THAT THIS HAD BEEN A PROBLEM AND THE FIRST REPLACEMENT PART WAS AN UPDATED VERSION HOWEVER IT DIDN'T LAST VERY LONG BEFORE IT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. MY VEHICLE IS ALMOST OUT OF WARRANTY AND I WILL SOON HAVE TO BE PAYING TO GET THESE REPLACED ON MY OWN. PLEASE INVESITGATE BECAUSE IF YOU HAVE ANYONE IN THE BACK SEAT OF THE TRUCK YOU CANNOT GET OUT IN AN ACCIDENT UNLESS YOU CLIMB THROUGH OR OVER THE PASSENGER/DRIVERS SEAT. *AK

Higher-selling and older vehicles accumulate more reports. Counts are not failure rates and are not directly comparable between vehicles that sold in very different numbers.
