2001 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Hd Problems

Owner-reported complaints filed with NHTSA, grouped by component

Data refreshed

Owner complaintsComplaints are reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a complaint does not establish that a defect exists. Volume is influenced by how many of a vehicle were sold, how long it has been on the road, and how much attention an issue has received.

What this page shows

Everything below is an owner-reported complaint submitted to NHTSA about the 2001 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Hd, grouped by the component NHTSA recorded on the report. These are not confirmed defects, and they are not recalls. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a category with more reports in it is not evidence that a part is defective.

Complaints are reports submitted by owners and drivers to NHTSA. They are not verified and do not establish that a defect exists.

WITH NO WARNING THE BRAKE LINES FAILED - AND THE TRUCK HIT A TREE, GOOD NEWS WAS THAT I WAS IN THE DRIVEWAY. THE ENTIRE FRAME IS ROTTED AND MY MECHANIC HAS ADVISED ME NOT TO DRIVE THE TRUCK ANY MORE. IT CURRENTLY HAS 80,000 MILES AND THE BODY AND INTERIOR ARE PERFECT - I EXPECTED TO MAINTAIN THIS TRUCK AND KEEP IT FORE MANY MORE YEARS, BOUGHT IT IN 03 WITH APROX 35,000 ON IT. IT IS UNSAFE IN MY OPINION - THIS SHOULDN'T HAPPEN WITH 80K MILEAGE - I HAVE REPLACED FUEL LINE, GAS FILL HOSE, BRAKE LINES, REAR BUMPER AND MUCH MUCH MORE. IS THERE ANY RECOURSE WITH CHEVROLET FOR US POOR OWNERS OF THESE VEHICLES? *TR

EXHAUST MANIFOLD BOLTS MALFUNCTION ALLOWING EXHAUST GASES TO ENTER CAB OF VEHICLE.
