Was sold with a warranty and was not fulfilled, and on top of that we found out they rolled the odometer back over 50k , then found out it has a spilt frame
The contact owns a 2011 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that there was rust on the frame of the vehicle. The contact stated that while having a routine oil change at an independent mechanic, it was determined that the subframe was extremely rusted. The mechanic was unable to put the vehicle on the lift. There were unknown warning lights illuminated. The local dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The approximate failure mileage was 130,000.
Engine
Reports naming the engine itself — including stalling, misfires, oil consumption, cooling and internal engine components.
From owner reports, verbatim
AFM/DOD lifter failed while driving which causes multiple systems to go offline including Traction Control, stability control, ABS just to name a few. This happened while coming off freeway which can be a safety risk as vehicle was at higher speeds. This is a known GM problem with 5.3l engines and should have been addressed years ago.
The contact owns a 2011 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, several warning lights illuminated. In addition, the contact stated that the vehicle was shaking. The vehicle was driven to the contact's residence. The vehicle was later taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed with a lifter and a failed cylinder 6. The contact was informed that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact referenced an unknown recall which had a similar failure description, however the contact's VIN was not associated. The dealer was made aware of the failure, however the contact was informed that the repair was not covered under any unknown recall. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 176,200.
Driver assistance

Stalking, harassment, identity thief, stealing of snap benefits and tampering
While driving, all the sudden my check engine light came on (flashing), and my stabilitrack light came on. The engine started running really rough, and lost power. It is like major misfire. Upon reading up on this, it is a problem with this type engine. I saw about 2000 people with the same issue. Nothing works to resolve this problem. Coils, plugs, and wires were replaced, and still the same.
Electrical
Reports naming the electrical system — wiring, battery, charging, control modules, infotainment and electrical accessories.
From owner reports, verbatim
Odometer Fraud. The contact purchased a 2011 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact discovered that there was a mileage discrepancy. The vehicle was a dealer sale. At the time of purchase, the mileage was 103,000. However, at the time of the vehicle registration, it was discovered that the mileage was 155,000; but the Service record indicated that the mileage was 108,000.
The worst problem I have with this vehicle is that it will cut power to propulsion without any warning. I was driving down a suburban roadway, not on the freeway, thank God. When the truck's automatic gear shift wouldn't engage, I went from going 30 mph to 5 mph in seconds. The accelerator pedal wouldn't respond, I managed to coax my truck into a parking lot and restart the engine. Other times the head lights will not come on. Just today, I turned on the left turn signal and the Stabilitrack warning light came on, plus the radio made a brief noise of static. This particular issue appeared and disappeared in one second. I'm concerned that these problems are a manufacturer's mistake, and I want it fixed as soon as possible. My mechanic has tried repeatedly to find the cause but has been unsuccessful.
Suspension
Reports naming suspension components — springs, struts, shocks, control arms and related hardware.
From owner reports, verbatim

Hello Our 2011 Chevy Silverado looks like it was sitting in a lake. The rusted frame has a hole and has failed Pennsylvania Inspection. The whole underside of the vehicle frame is peeling away the body of the truck is very clean. Truck has 60,000 miles and is garage kept. We were shocked to see the condition when we were at the inspection station. It worries me how many of these trucks are on the road or towing trailers. Please don’t wait to take action until something happens. Yes, our vehicle is available for inspection pictures. There was no warning lights. Our local Pennsylvania State Inspection Station failed the truck during routine yearly inspection. Thank you for your attention to this matter.
Powertrain (other)
Powertrain reports that are not specifically the engine or transmission — driveshafts, axles, transfer cases and differentials.
From owner reports, verbatim
My transmission failed and my truck wouldn’t move. I’ve replaced it with a rebuilt one which is already shifting hard and shuddering. These 6l80e transmissions are no good
The contact owns a 2011 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle stalled without warning. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the residence and then towed to a transmission specialist to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the transmission needed to be replaced; however, the contact was informed by the technician that the vehicle could not be repaired due to a rusted subframe that needed to first be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The dealer was notified of the failure and the contact was provided information on how to independently repair a subframe, but no further assistance was provided. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 112,000.
Brakes
Reports naming service brakes, the antilock braking system, brake hoses, master cylinders or the parking brake.
From owner reports, verbatim
The contact owns a 2011 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the brakes seized. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired by an independent mechanic or the dealer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline to file a complaint. The failure mileage was approximately 76,000.
The contact owns a 2011 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, there was an abnormal sound coming from the brakes. The contact stated that the dashboard was also cracked. There was a dollar-sized hole in the dashboard. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer where they informed the contact there was a hairline fracture on the dashboard. The vehicle was not repaired. The air bag was previously replaced. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but no additional assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 28,000.
Fuel system
Reports naming fuel storage or delivery — tanks, pumps, lines, injectors and fuel leaks.
From owner reports, verbatim
The software that makes the truck work as a 4 cylinder truck has caused the engine light to come on and causing a code P0300 various engine misfire. The misfire is caused by the lifter spring causing the lifter to remain in the down position. The down position is against the can rod and as the cam rod rotates, this causes the lifter to break at the bottom and causing the can rod to also break which will cause an engine failure while drinking and the motor will freeze . All GMC and Chevrolet vehicles with this installed should be recalled. Everyone has been fixing it themselves by replacing the part(s) once a pinging noise is heard at 50,000 miles. Basically every 50,000 this will need to be fixed. Some people are turning off the 4 cylinder software to avoid the problem which in both cases, uses more gas and also idles higher.
Fuel leak at the fuel tank. Pulled tank from the truck, found the fuel pump housing was completely rusted out. Upon inspection of the pump housing, the high pressure line was rusted out and almost off the pump, causing gasoline to pump out and all over. After replacing this fuel pump I inspected the frame and found the frame looks like a frame off a truck that is 40 years old, not a truck that is only 12 years old. The frame has heavy levels of rust down thru from the drivetrain back. There are spots that are rusted completely thru the frame where it looks like a crack down the frame. Most of the rust is on the bottom side or inside area of the frame. This area with the rust crack will have to be repaired very soon for safety of the vehicle, because if the frame would happen to fail where this crack is, the truck would fold in half, and if it is being driven on the interstate it would cause a major accident for sure. The rusting is so extensive that instead of repairing the spots, it would be more feasible to just go ahead and replace the whole back half of the truck frame. This is unacceptable for Chevrolet to use material that craps out so fast on trucks that are supposed to last many years, instead of falling apart long before they are even paid off. A 12 year old truck shouldn't have this extensive amount of rust damage to the frame. I would just fix the frame if this was commonplace for trucks, but my 2000 Dodge Ram has a frame far better then what is under my 2011 Chevy Silverado as far as rust goes. 2000 Dodge surface rust in spots, 2011 Chevy completely rusted thru in spots. My next inspection on this Chevy will more then likely remove it off the road unless the frame is repaired. Unacceptable from Chevrolet and for only a 12 year old truck. I added pics of the frame right in front of the fuel tank, which the frame shows that long rusted crack down it. Can send more pictures of the frame in other places if needed.
Steering
Reports naming the steering system — racks, columns, power-steering assist and steering linkage.
From owner reports, verbatim
The truck brakes or something locked up and cause me to crash the truck. Police report was filed and insurance company has appraised the truck. No warning lights or anything came on.
While pulling into a parking spot the steering stopped working almost causing me to crash into another car. I shut the car off and restarted and the power steering was still out.. thank god i wasn’t on the highway
Seat belts
Reports naming seat belts, buckles, retractors and pretensioners.
From owner reports, verbatim
WAS DRIVING IN MOTION STRAIGHT DURING ICY CONDITIONS ON FREEWAY AND TRUCK SLID OUT OF CONTROL AND I DROVE THROUGH DITCH NEVER STOPPED ONCE AND SIDE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED AND SEAT BELTS ALL FROZE UP AND CEILING FABRIC WAS RUINED AND TORN FROM DEPLOYED AIRBAGS. I NEVER HIT ANYTHING AND CONTINUED TO DRIVE RIGHT BACK ONTO HIGHWAY.
WHILE DRIVING ON A TWO LANE ROAD AT ~45 MPH,I STRUCK A DEER ON THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE OF THE TRUCK. THE AIR BAG DEPLOYED BUT DID NOT COME OUT OF THE CENTER STEERING. AIR BAG DUST WAS COMING OUT OF THE BACK OF THE STEERING WHEEL, NO AIR BAG. I WAS VERY CONFUSED. THE FRONT BUMPER WAS PUSHED IN ~2.5 INCHES. I AM FORTUNATE THAT I DID NOT HIT ANOTHER CAR, SINCE THE AIRBAG MALFUNCTIONED ON DEPLOYMENT.
Exterior lighting
Reports naming headlights, tail lights, turn signals and other exterior lighting.
