2016 Chrysler Town And Country Fuel system Problems

Owner-reported complaints naming the fuel system system, filed with NHTSA

Data refreshed

Fuel system reportsComplaints are reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a complaint does not establish that a defect exists. Volume is influenced by how many of a vehicle were sold, how long it has been on the road, and how much attention an issue has received.

For the last few weeks my car has been stalling when I come to a complete stop or as I am breaking. Sometimes it takes as many as 7 tries of putting it in park, turning it off and turning it back on. The check engine light is not on. Mechanic cannot determine problem. I have found hundreds of other claims saying the same thing with no resolution found. This has been a reoccuring problem and is inconsistent. Can happen 5 times in a 5 mile trip and 0 times in a 50 mile trip.

My 2016 Chrysler Town and country van, started making horrible noises while I was circling to get my friend at the airport. There was no warning light and no place to stop. I slowly drove 2 miles to a gas station and parked it over night, got it towed to my regular shop in the morning. They told me transmission oil pump had failed. They referenced me to NTHSA SAFETY RECALL 16V461000 ( Chrysler recall number S44 ) for transmission oil pump. Recall was for dates Aug 2015 thru Aug 2016. My vehicle DOM was December 2015, right in the middle of the recall date range. However, for unknown reasons, my VIN is not included in the NTHSA recall and Chrysler / FCA / Stellantis is refusing to pay for the $7500 repair. I would like NTHSA to please add my VIN number to the above referenced recall. Please let me know next steps. Thank you!

VAN STARTED SHAKING AND STALLING, WITH ENGINE LIGHT ON. IT WOULD DRIVE FINE OT HIGHWAY SEEDS, BUT SHOOK BAD AND STALLED AT IDLE. I TOOK IT TO CHRYSLER REPAIR SHOP AND THEY SAID IT HAD A P0302 CODE. THAT IS A MISFIRE ON LEFT CYLINDER HEAD #2 CYLINDER. AFTER TEAR DOWN IT WAS CONFIRMED IT WAS #2 CYLINDER INTAKE VALVE ALMOST 85% LEAK DOWN. (TECH'S STATMENT) THIS REQUIRED A NEW CYLINDER HEAD. WHEN WE MADE APPOINTMENT AT SCHUMACHER AUTOMOTIVE IN DELRAY BEACH FL. IT WAS TOLD TO ME MY VAN WAS COVERED UNDER FCA RECALL OF LEFT CYLINDER HEAD #2 CYLINDER RECALL. UPON DORPPING IT OFF IT SUDDENLY WAS NOT COVERED EVEN THOUGH HE USED THE SAME VIN INFO BOTH TIMES. THE COULD NOT TELL ME WHY THE DIFFERENCE IN JUST ONE DAY. BETWEEN MAKING APPOINTMENT AND BRINGING IN. TRIED CALLING FCA IN MICHIGAN AND WAS TOLD THE LEFT HEAD ISSIUE HAD BEEN FIXED WITH MY MODEL YEAR EVEN THOUGH TECH HAS HAD EVERY P0302 CODE 3.6L ENGINE REQUIRING A NEW HEAD, SAME AS PREVIOUS RECAL. MY VAN HAS 73,000 MILES AND I PURCHASED IT USED FROM HERTZ RETAL CAR. FCA SAID THEY COULD NOT DO ANYTHING AT THIS TIME UNLESS I MET 3 OUT OF 5 QUESTIONS ABOUT MY VAN AND ME. I MET ONLY ONE AND THAT WAS A LOYAL CUSOMER. NO COVERERAGE.

THREE DIFFERENT TIMES THE GAS PEDAL., ON FULL ACCELERATION HAS STUCK TO THE FLOOR. LAST TIME WAS ON 31 AUGUST WHEN PULLED OUT OF THE LEE COUNTY FLORIDA VA CLINIC WHICH IS ON A CORNER AND TRAFFIC WAS DOING 15-20 MPH ABOVE THE 35 MPH LIMIT. U WAS IN LEFT LANE OF 4 LANE ROAD AND WHEN THE GAS PEDAL WOULD NOT RELEASE, AFTER STOMPING ON IT 3-4 TIMES AND AFTER CARS HAD PASSED ME ON THE RIGHT, I PUT IT IN NEUTRAL AND WAS, THE ENGINE WAS RACING FULL THROTTLE, ABLE TO PULL OF THE RIGHT HAND SHOULDER WHERE I AGAIN STOMPED COUPLE TIMES AND IT WOULD NOT RELEASE SO I SHUT IT OFF BEFORE THE ENGINE BLEW UP. AFTER I SHUT IT OFF, THE GAS PEDDLE DID RELEASE AND I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE IT BACK TO OUR RESIDENCE. I HAVE SINCE NOT PUT THE GAS PEDDLE TO THE FLOOR AS THIS HAD HAPPENED TWICE BEFORE. I HAVE NOT CONTACTED THE LOCAL CHRYSLER DEALER, DOUGLAS CHRYSLER IN VENICE ON THIS ISSUE BUT I PLAN ON TALKING TO THE SERVICE ADVISOR, (XXXX) THANK YOU PARTS OF THIS DOCUMENT HAVE BEEN REDACTED TO PROTECT PERSONALLY IDENTIFIABLE INFORMATION PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6). *TT CONSUMER STATED THAT THE GAS PEDAL STUCK, SERVICE MANAGER, THROTTLE BODY APART AND CLEANED OUT CARBON.
