Recalls, owner-reported complaints, investigations and safety data

Owner complaintsComplaints are reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a complaint does not establish that a defect exists. Volume is influenced by how many of a vehicle were sold, how long it has been on the road, and how much attention an issue has received.
0
Safety recallsA safety recall is issued when a manufacturer or NHTSA determines that a vehicle has a safety-related defect or does not comply with a federal motor vehicle safety standard. Recall repairs are free. Whether a specific vehicle is covered depends on its VIN — a recall listed for a model year does not necessarily apply to every vehicle of that year.

InvestigationsNHTSA opens an investigation to examine whether a safety defect may exist. An open investigation is not a determination that a defect exists, and many investigations close without a recall. Investigations can, however, lead to one.
0
Crash or fire reportedComplaints whose submitter recorded that a crash or a fire occurred. These are the reporter's own answers on the NHTSA form, not verified findings.

According to FCA Recall B3C/25V720: "The cooling fan may wear prematurely and have inadequate fuse protection, which can lead to a vehicle fire."

511996

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM; VISIBILITY/WIPER

According to FCA RECALL 25V552/59C/60C: "The rearview camera on your vehicle [1] may have thermal fatigue cracks in the microprocessor solder which can cause the rearview camera to display a blank/black/blue or inverted screen in place of the rearview image. A rearview image that is blank/black/blue or inverted reduces the driver's view of what is behind the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash. The condition above fails to comply with the requirements of FMVSS No. 571.111 S6.2.6 requires that "The rear visibility system default to the rearview image being visible and meet the requirements of FMVSS No. 571.111 S6.2.1 (field of view) and S6.2.2 (image size) at the beginning of each backing event, regardless of any modifications to the field of view that the driver had previously selected..." Suspect vehicles may not display the rearview image during a backing event under certain conditions."

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM; VISIBILITY/WIPER

According to FCA recall 25V330: "The Security Gateway Module (SGW) on your vehicle may prevent some communication between vehicle modules, which may result in the rearview image not displaying in a backing event. The vehicle operator may notice that the rearview image is not displayed if attempting to reference the image while backing. A rearview camera image that does not display reduces the driver's visibility of what is behind the vehicle and if not heeded, increases the risk of a crash."

511950

This is a product service bulletin from Global Link concerning counterfeit keys for entry doors being sold on certain websites. Forest River is reporting as we are sharing with the dealer body.

511827

VISIBILITY/WIPER

According to FCA Recall 66B/24V436: "The radio software on your vehicle may prevent the rearview camera signal from passing through to the media screen. The vehicle operator will notice that the rearview image is not displayed if attempting to reference the image while backing. A rearview camera image that does not display decreases the driver's visibility, increasing the risk of a crash."

511768

SEAT BELTS

According to FCA, the driver seat belt buckle may have been built with an incorrect switch sense magnet. Suspect vehicles may incorrectly activate the warning system indicating that the seat belt is unlatched when it is latched. Failure to detect whether an occupant is buckled can impede the seatbelt warning system from deactivating when the belt is properly fastened, potentially leading to reduced seat belt use which can increase the risk of injury in certain crashes.

Manufacturers file copies of the bulletins they send to dealers with NHTSA. These often describe diagnostic or repair procedures for a known condition. They are not recalls: repairs described in a bulletin are usually only free if the vehicle is still under warranty or the manufacturer has extended coverage.
