2013 Crossroads Elevation Owner Complaints

Reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers, shown in full

Data refreshed

Complaints on fileComplaints are reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a complaint does not establish that a defect exists. Volume is influenced by how many of a vehicle were sold, how long it has been on the road, and how much attention an issue has received.

What this page shows

Our database holds 2 NHTSA owner-reported complaints for the 2013 Crossroads Elevation. Each one is a report filed by an owner or driver and published by NHTSA without most of them being verified. A complaint is not a confirmed defect, not a recall and not a manufacturer bulletin. Narratives are shown exactly as filed.

Complaints are reports submitted by owners and drivers to NHTSA. They are not verified and do not establish that a defect exists.

ALL THE 2013 AND 2014 CROSSROAD ELEVATIONS- 3812 MODELS HAVE PLUMBING (BLACK WATER/GREY WATER TANKS) WHICH ALLOW SEWER GAS TO ESCAPE INTO THE LIVING AREA. THE REAR 1/2 BATH TOILET BLACK WATER TANK HAS THE KITCHEN SINK, THE WASHER AND THE 1/2 BATH SINK RUNNING INTO IT. AS WE UNDERSTAND IT, ANYTIME THE VEHICLE MOVES, THE WATER IN TO J-TRAPS FOR THE KITCHEN SINK, WASHER AND 1/2 BATH SINK SLOUCHES OUT AND ALLOWS METHANE GAS INTO THE LIVING AREA. ADDITIONALLY THIS SET UP ALLOWS GAS TO ESCAPE EVEN WHEN NOT MOVING BUT WE HAVEN'T FIGURED OUT WHY. IT APPEARS TO BE INHERENT TO THIS TYPE OF SET UP. THIS IS A FIRE HAZARD WHICH CAN CAUSE A POTENTIAL EXPLOSION FROM A SPARK, NOT TO MENTION THE AWFUL SMELL. CROSSROADS HAS BEEN UNWILLING TO CORRECT THIS DANGEROUS DESIGN FLAW. OUR DEALER SAYS THE ONLY WAY TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM IS TO INSTALL A SEPARATE GREY WATER TANK FOR THE KITCHEN SINK, WASHER AND 1/2 BATH SINK. THIS ALLOWS THE REAR 1/2 BATH TOILET TO HAVE ITS OWN SEPARATE BLACK WATER TANK. CROSSROADS HAS REIMBURSED AN OWNER FOR THE REPAIR BUT REFUSES TO HELP US. WE HAVE BEEN TRYING FOR A YEAR TO GET THIS CORRECTED WITH NO RESULTS. WE APPRECIATE YOUR HELP WITH THIS. OUR DEALER SAID THEY HAVE BEEN GETTING COMPLAINTS FROM OTHER OWNERS AS WELL. *TR

Higher-selling and older vehicles accumulate more reports. Counts are not failure rates and are not directly comparable between vehicles that sold in very different numbers.
