1995 Dodge Intrepid Body & structure Problems

Owner-reported complaints naming the body or structure system, filed with NHTSA

Data refreshed

Body & structure reportsComplaints are reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a complaint does not establish that a defect exists. Volume is influenced by how many of a vehicle were sold, how long it has been on the road, and how much attention an issue has received.

I THINK THAT IS ENOUGH TO TELL YOU THIS MODEL HAS DEFECTS TOO MANY TO MENTION. I THINK DODGE SHOULD ALLOW SOME SORT OF RENUMERATION ON REPAIRS OR A NICE REASONABLE DISCOUNT ON FUTURE PURCHASES SINCE THIS IS MY SECOND DODGE.

HOOD LATCH FAILED TO OPEN WHEN PULLED DUE TO POOR ASSEMBLY. THE HOOD ON THIS VEHICLE NEEDS TO BE DROPPED IN ORDER TO ENGAGE THE HOOD LOCK. NEVERTHELESS, THE DEALER FELT THAT THE HOOD LATCH MECHANISM BROKE "DUE TO LACK OF MAINTENANCE" AND NOT POOR MANUFACTURING PRACTICES. IT IS INHERENTLY DANGEROUS TO HAVE AN UNRELIABLE HOOD LATCH MECHANISM BECAUSE IT MAKES IT NEARLY IMPOSSIBLE TO FIX ANY EMERGENCY ENGINE PROBLEMS. THIS PART SHOULD BE FAIL-PROOF THROUGHOUT THE LIFE OF THE VEHICLE AS LONG AS THE HOOD HAS NOT BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT.
