1994 Dodge Ram 2500 Fuel system Problems

Owner-reported complaints naming the fuel system system, filed with NHTSA

Data refreshed

Fuel system reportsComplaints are reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a complaint does not establish that a defect exists. Volume is influenced by how many of a vehicle were sold, how long it has been on the road, and how much attention an issue has received.

REAR FUEL TANK STRAP BROKE OFF, WITHOUT REALIZING IT. HAPPEN TO NOTICE FUEL TANK HANGING DOWN FROM VEHICLE. HAD TO PUT A RACHET STRAP ON IT TO PULL IT BACK UP IN PLACE. THE BRACKET WAS STILL IN PLACE. LOOKS LIKE THE SPOT WELDING FROM THE STRAP TO THE BRACKET LET LOOSE. CALLED SEVERAL DODGE DEALERS, THEY HAD NONE IN STOCK OR THEY WERE ON BACKORDER. ONE DEALER EVEN MENTION HE NOTICE NATION WIDE THERE WAS 500 OF THESE STRAPS ON BACKORDER. THIS TELLS ME DODGE HAS A PROBLEM. IF I HADN'T NOTICE MY FUEL TANK AS SOON AS I DID, IT WOULD HAVE FALLEN OFF AND WHO KNOWS WHAT MAY HAVE HAPPEN. I FEEL THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL EFFORT ON DODGE'S PART. I PLAN ON HAVING A CUSTOM STRAP FABRICATED, SEEING THE DODGE DEALER COULD GIVE ME NO TIME FRAME ON WHEN TO EXPECT A REPLACEMENT STRAP.*JB
