The defect: DRV Suites (DRV) is recalling certain 2018-2021 Elite Suites and Mobile Suites fifth wheel trailers. The brake caliper retaining clips may bend or warp while braking, causing the caliper to become unseated.
The risk: An unseated brake caliper can cause a loss of braking ability, increasing the risk of a crash.
The remedy: Dealers will replace the caliper retaining clips, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed November 11, 2021. Owners may contact DRV customer service at 1-260-562-3500.

The contact owns a 2019 DRV Mobile Suite Fifth Wheel RV, Model Number: 40KSSB4. The contact stated that while disassembling the wheels to perform a recall repair, he noticed that 3 of the 4 outboard brake pads were missing friction materials. The contact replaced the brake pads himself. The contact believed that the failure was related to NHTSA Campaign Number: 21V733000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic). The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 10,400.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2019 DRV MOBILE SUITE FIFTH WHEEL RV, MODEL NUMBER: 40KSSB4. WHILE INSPECTING THE WHEELS TO PERFORM AN AXLE LUBRICATION, THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE BRAKE CALIPER HAD CUT THROUGH THE WHEELS ON THE FIFTH WHEEL TRAILER. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO RV'S FOR LESS (8035 RUTLEDGE PIKE, KNOXVILLE, TN 37924, (865) 521-9112) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE FAILURE WAS DUE TO AN ENGINEERING DEFECT. THE RV WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CONTACT WAS REFERRED TO THE MANUFACTURER. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2019 DRV MOBILE SUITE RV CONNECTED TO A 2011 FORD F-350. WHILE DEPRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL, THERE WAS AN INCREASE IN STOPPING DISTANCE. THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THERE WERE NO BRAKE LINES ON THE RV. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE CONTACT WAS A CERTIFIED CLASS A MECHANIC AND ORDERED THE PARTS FROM AN UNKNOWN CAMPER DEALER TO BE REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE.
