JUST BOUGHT A NEW DUCATI SPORT CLASSIC 1000 MOTORCYCLE FROM DEALER AND THE GAS TANK HAS SPREAD AND IS NO LONGER ATTACHED TO BIKE AND THE PLASTIC TANK IS RUBBING ON THE FRAME. *TR

THE PLASTIC FUEL TANK ON MY DUCATI SPORT 1000 IS BULGING AND EXPANDING, CAUSING IT TO COME OUT OF THE FRONT MOUNTS. *TR
GAS TANK SPREADS (EXPANDS) OUT OF THE MOUNTING BRACKETS. THE GAS TANK CAN BE LIFTED OFF THE FRAME. DUCATI HAS REPLACED THE TANK ONCE AND THE NEW TANK IS SPREADING. I AM LOSING STEERING LOCK-TO-LOCK BECAUSE OF THE EXPANDING TANK. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 DUCATI SPORT 1000 BIPOSTO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FUEL TANK SWELLED AND DETACHED FROM THE VEHICLE. THE DEALER STATED THAT THEY COULD CHIME ATTACH THE FUEL TANK BACK TO THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT DID NOT BELIEVE THAT THE REPAIR WOULD CORRECT THE PROBLEM. THE CONTACT CALLED THE MANUFACTURER WHO ADVISED HIM TO WRITE A LETTER AND PURCHASE AN EXTENDED WARRANTY. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 16 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 119.
GAS TANK ON MOTORCYCLE IS EXPANDING/SPREADING. *TR
2009 DUCATI SPORT CLASSIC TANK SPREADING PROBLEM. I PURCHASE THIS BIKE NEW AND HAVE OWNED IT FOR 4 MONTHS AND THE GAS TANK HAS DEFORMED TO THE POINT WHERE IT NO LONGER IS ATTACHED TO THE BIKE. AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS I CAN FEEL THE TANK LIFTING OFF THE BIKE. I COULD IMAGE GIVEN A LITTLE MORE WIND SPEED THE TANK WOULD FLIP UP AND HIT ME IN THE HEAD. I HAVE INVESTIGATED THE PROBLEM AND IT SEEMS THIS IS A COMMON COMPLAINT. THE DEALERSHIP WHERE I PURCHASED THE BIKE HAS STATED THE MANUFACTURER WILL REPLACE THE TANK UNDER WARRANTY, BUT THAT THE ISSUE WILL PERSIST WITH THE NEW TANK SINCE IT IS OF THE SAME DESIGN. ADDITIONALLY, SMALL CRACKS IN THE PLASTIC (NOT THE PAINT) ARE BEGINNING TO FORM AROUND THE FUEL TANK FILLER AND CHECKERED CRACKS CAN BE SEEN AROUND THE SIDE. AS I HAVE ONLY OWNED THIS BIKE FOR 4 MONTHS AND THIS ISSUE CONTINUES TO WORSEN AND GIVEN THAT THE REPLACEMENT TANK IS EXACTLY THE SAME AS THE TANK I HAVE ON THE BIKE NOW, I MAY BE REPLACING THIS TANK A HALF A DOZEN TIMES THROUGHOUT ITS LIFE. I AM CONCERNED AFTER THE WARRANTY IS OVER AND REPLACEMENT TANKS ARE NO LONGER AVAILABLE THAT I AND OTHERS WILL BE FORCED TO MODIFY THE MOUNTING BRACKETS ON THE BIKE TO FIT THE TANK. AND AT SOME POINT THE TANK WILL ULTIMATELY FAIL. *TR
PLASTIC FUEL TANK ON 2009 DUCATI SPORT 1000 HAS EXPANDED AND IS NOW LOOSE ON THE BIKE, CAUSING A HAZARDOUS SITUATION. TANK HAS BEEN REPLACED ONCE BY DUCATI NORTH AMERICA BUT PROBLEM OCCURRED AGAIN ONLY AFTER A COUPLE OF MONTHS. IT SEEMS THE PLASTIC IS REACTING TO THE GASOLINE OR SOMETHING IN IT (ETHANOL) AND BULGES MAKING IT LOOSE FROM THE FRAME. *TR

This service repair bulletin informs dealers and service managers of the assessment criteria for identifying front fork-related defects. The purpose is prevent technicians from mistaking oozing oil or assembly grease, for legitimate defects. The bulletin further provides examples and pictures for clarification.

Guided Diagnosis for Front Brake System Bleeding. Applicability: All Models. This Service Bulletin replaces and cancels the previous bulletin SRV-SRB-20-014 published on 4/17/2020. It provides dealers and service managers with needed information to correctly bleed the front brake system of the various Ducati models. This bulletin further refers the reader to an attached diagnosis guide. The referenced guide/annex is available to NHTSA upon request.

Finial Drive Chain Maintenance Precautions. Applicability: All Models and Model Years (except XDiavel). This Service Bulletin replaces and cancels the previous bulletins: SRV-SRB-18-030 published on 05/11/2018, SRV-SRB-19-046 published on 12/31/2019, SRV-SRB-20-050 published on 11/24/2020. It provides dealers and service managers additional final drive chain care to ensure optimum performance and longevity for the chain. this includes cleaning, lubricating, inspecting and tension guidelines.

This service repair bulletin instructs dealers and service managers on authorized procedures for identifying and isolating coolant and engine oil leaks.
