REFERENCE NHTSA RECALL 16V-313 AND PREVIOUS SUBMISSION 11344194. OUR MOTORHOME WITH A SPARTAN CHASSIS SUFFERED AN EXHAUST BELLOWS FAILURE EXACTLY DESCRIBED IN RECALL 16V-313. IT IS OF THE CORRECT VINTAGE AND TYPE DESCRIBED BY 16V-313. SPARTAN CHASSIS COMPANY REFUSES TO MAKE REPAIRS OR HONOR THE RECALL 16V-313. THEY CLAIM THAT OUR UNIT IS EXCLUDED FROM THIS RECALL YET WILL NOT EXPLAIN HOW OR WHY IT IS NOT COMPLIANT WITH THE RECALL. WE FIT WITHIN THE TIME, DATES AND VINS DESCRIBED. SPARTAN REFUSES TO EXPLAIN WHY THE RECALL IS NOT BEING HONORED DESPITE THE FAILURE BEING A PICTURE PERFECT EXAMPLE OF THE RECALL SITUATION. CAN YOU HELP ME GET AN ANSWER FROM THEM?

THE EXHAUST SYSTEM SEPARATED BETWEEN THE TURBO AND THE PARTICULATE FILTER ON THE CUMMINS DIESEL ENGINE. THIS IS IN A SPARTAN RV CHASSIS. THE HEAT FROM THE EXHAUST LEAK DUE TO THE FLEXIBLE EXHAUST BELLOWS CAUSED EXTENSIVE THERMAL DAMAGE. SEE NHTSA RECALL 16V-313 AS THAT RECALL DESCRIBES THE PROBLEM EXACTLY.

Manufacturers file copies of the bulletins they send to dealers with NHTSA. These often describe diagnostic or repair procedures for a known condition. They are not recalls: repairs described in a bulletin are usually only free if the vehicle is still under warranty or the manufacturer has extended coverage.
Compare model years
Complaint and recall counts across every year of this model
Higher-selling and older vehicles accumulate more reports. Counts are not failure rates and are not directly comparable between vehicles that sold in very different numbers. Older model years have had longer for reports to accumulate.
