2023 Fisker Ocean Interior & seats Problems

Owner-reported complaints naming the interior system, filed with NHTSA

Data refreshed

Interior & seats reportsComplaints are reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a complaint does not establish that a defect exists. Volume is influenced by how many of a vehicle were sold, how long it has been on the road, and how much attention an issue has received.

Our Fisker Ocean is occasionally having an issue when a passenger is sitting in the rear driver side or middle seat. It seems like something related to the seat sensor causes the computer to freeze or get bogged down. When it occurs, the symptoms include: -The yellow front collision and lane change ADAS warnings pop up simultaneously -Cruise control shuts off -Speedometer freezes -Blinkers don’t work (which also means hazard lights don’t) -Regen turns off but braking still works -Tomtom stops tracking the car accurately -Radio freezes -There may be other systems affected that we haven't noticed. A bit of experimentation with the passengers we were able to figure out workarounds. Lifting themselves off the seat all the issues would resolve pretty much immediately. Leaning the seat back down and then putting it back up almost always took care of the issue and it wouldn’t come back for a while or at all.

The contact owns a 2023 Fisker Ocean. The contact received notifications of NHTSA Campaign Numbers: 24V499000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM), 24V466000 (STRUCTURE), 24V623000 (SERVICE BRAKES, ELECTRIC) and 24V865000 (SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC; AUTOHOLD BRAKE SYSTEM/BRAKE HOLD). The contact stated that upon starting the vehicle, the rearview camera failed to activate while the vehicle was in reverse(R), compromising the back-over prevention system. In addition, all the cameras failed to operate as intended. The ADAS (Advanced Driver-Assistance Systems) light illuminated, and several unknown warning lights illuminated. The contact stated that an Over-the-Air (OTA) software update was performed on the rearview camera; however, the failure became progressively worse. The contact stated that the OTA updates drained the battery, causing alarms to independently activate. The battery was replaced. The contact stated that on a separate occasion, the electrical system failed, which caused the vehicle to be completely non-responsive. A mobile mechanic arrived at the residence and repaired the electrical system and the battery. However, the failure persisted, and the battery was replaced a second time. The contact stated that on a separate occasion, the front driver’s side door failed to open as intended. The contact was unable to open the door from the inside. The contact rolled down the window and unlocked the door from the outside. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired due to the cost and the parts not being available. The contact stated that the failure persisted. The contact stated that while driving uphill, the vehicle rolled backwards while in drive(D). The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired after the most recent failure. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, on a rough road or over a pothole, the vehicle failed to stop as intended while depressing the brake pedal. The contact stated that the interior lights failed to function as intended when the switch was turned on. In addition, while starting

I’m currently experiencing the following safety issues with my Fisker Ocean One: 1. Seat sensor - does not sense a person sitting which affects the ability to put the vehicle into gear or automatically puts the vehicle into park if in gear. Huge safety concern since the vehicle has been placed into park in the middle of a traffic intersection or will not go into drive after waiting at a red light or stop sign. Have had near hits from the rear. 2. Windshield - there are zero available options to quickly replace a cracked windshield. Replacement windshields are not available anywhere and if for some miracle you can locate one (via eBay) you cannot find a shop that will replace it. I’ve called multiple windshield repair companies for many months and non of them carry the windshield or have the tools needed to recalibrate the ADAS. Driving with a cracked windshield is a very big safety hazard due to extreme visibility reduction. Could cause crash or hitting pedestrians.

Due to a faulty sensor in the driver seat, the car shifts into Park at random when at a red light. This is large triggered by the driver shifting their weight in the seat, which causes the vehicle to interpret that the driver has exited the vehicle. The door system will malfunction and lock the doors even when the key fob is in the vehicle when there is no one in the vehicle and all power is on. This forces the driver to enter through the trunk to then unlock the vehicle. Both are on going issues.

My windshield was hit by a stone in April 2024, and I have still been unable to source a replacement windshield. My driver seat belt sensor went out and froze the rear brakes. I had to burn through the brake pads to get the car off the road, and had no rear brake pads until I was able to locate a salvage pair and new rotors to repair them, and a new seat sensor. The cost of this work and parts is $1,335.31. I had to pay to have the recalled water pump replaced. The cost of this was $325.

Inability to Schedule Recall Work + Lack of Availability I am writing to express my deep concerns regarding the ongoing issues that are being seen with the NHTSA recall campaign numbers 24V865000 and 24V623000. Multiple attempts of this safety recall have been scheduled over the past several weeks for my vehicle, but the update has yet to be completed. As an owner who values safety and reliability, I am increasingly concerned about the unresolved safety issues that were supposed to be addressed with this software update. To date, I have been disappointed to learn that each week brings reports from fellow vehicle owners indicating that their cars have become undrivable following these updates, with a concerning failure rate of approximately 2% to 5%. This is unacceptable for any customer who relies on their vehicle for daily transportation. Additionally, the lengthy 48-hour windows during which our cars become unusable only exacerbate the frustration and inconvenience faced by owners. The expectation of partial updates, followed by yet another potential 48-hour downtime, is not a practical solution. Furthermore, the feedback from owner surveys suggests that complete updates, which should ideally resolve these issues, have only succeeded in under 30% of attempted vehicles. This raises serious questions about the efficacy of the OTA update process and its implementation. I was also alarmed to learn that after five weeks of attempts, only about 10% of the fleet—approximately 300 vehicles—have been successfully updated, despite over 800 VINs submitted for these updates.

Radar warning flashers every time I use the car. ADSA light warning stays on. Flashers inoperable. Had to replace water pump. Had to replace door handle. Had to replace battery 4 different times. Had to pay for batteries, and to install battery. ADAS system has never worked. Had the ADAS system by previous Fisker tech men and told there were not parts available to fix same.

The contact owns a 2023 Fisker Ocean. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V623000 (Service Brakes, Electric) however, the part to do the recall repair was unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The contact stated that all the door handles and electrical system had overheated causing the protective plastic on the door handle to detach. The contact stated that the brake system failed while driving on uneven pavement. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a repair shop suggested on the Fisker website as a location for the repair; however, the vehicle had not been diagnosed or repaired after the contact was informed that there would be labor charges for the completion of the repairs even though the repair shop was authorized, trained, and recommended by the manufacturer. The dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The failure mileage was 73,045. Parts distribution disconnect.

There are 3 major issues/concerns with this vehicle. 1. Sunroof/Roof - This rooftop does not seal completely. Initially this roof would rattle and you could hear squeaks and movement. Then the sunroof would only open on a half and then soon not at all. Because of this, the top is never fully sealed leaving water to leak inside in different areas potentially causing more issues to the electrical components inside. 2. Seats area weight sensitive. While driving it is too sensitive so at a red-light, any slight movement will immediately put the car in park and doors unlocked. Even WHILE reversing, any movement on the seat (to look backwards), the car will go in park while moving! 3. Forward collision warning - the notices to stop/warn you of a collision are WAY too late. by the time you actually get to a stop, the beeps and lights come on. I had to swerve to avoid a collision - there was not a single notice at any point.

When in traffic, if my car is in stand-still and I shift in my seat, the car puts itself into park. This is extremely dangerous as I am actively on a highway in park. I have to spend upwards of a minute trying to turn the parking brake off and shift the car back into drive. This is a continual problem that will not be fixed/addressed by attempts to contact the vehicle manufacturer. It happens often.

1. While driving, occasionally, a collision warning flashes on the screen in bright red with a loud sound, which is alarming and a safety issue, especially when. Secondly, while backing up, often, if you move within your seat, the car goes into park! Very unsettling. Thirdly, while at a stoplight, the car has gone into neutral several times. There have also been times when I couldn't get into my car due to the keyfob not working. Note, there have been consistent errors ever since I have gotten the cars, but these are the latest in the past few months. Lastly, this week, the screen inside the car just was completely gray, did not turn on even while driving.

The vehicle will not go into drive or reverse unless you move to the front edge of the driver seat. The vehicle will go into park whenever you come to a stop, whether at traffic lights, in traffic at a roundabout, or on the highway when there is a lot of traffic. Due to the first issue of getting it into drive, this becomes problematic when you have to move the front edge of the seat to get it back into gear.

I have created some service tickets thru the Fisker website and got no response, Shawn did a great job taking care of the initial issues I had, I just keep finding more that have not been addressed or stopped working with the OS2.0, the Bluetooth keeps disconnecting or not connecting at all when I enter the vehicle, the “Lane keep assist” never worked, I am still owe the rear flaps, the emergency kit We paid for, the limo screen is not working, (it stopped working before the updated it got fixed on update, it stopped working again), also, the car has done some erratic behaviors when stopped at a intersection waiting for a green light, the vehicle puts itself to Park, sometimes to the point of non responsiveness, there’s rattling or grinding sound when breaking at around 30-20m/hr, when inside the vehicle for 20-30 min, all kind of errors appears and becomes unresponsive, battery errors, won’t drive or do nothing, the driver seat intermittently becomes unresponsive, it would not move forward/backwards or up/low, I couldn’t drive it the other day, it was stuck the way my wife drives.

We took our brand new car on its first road trip and drove over 400 miles when the hood of the car suddenly flew up blocking our view while driving 55mph on 11/20/23. The hood bent forward hitting the front windshield leaving an etching of the Fisker logo on the glass but thankfully did not break it. The hood was bent up and dented, damaging the side fenders as well as the brackets. We were lucky to have avoided a major accident since the hood totally obstructed our view driving high speed on a highway. Our car has been at a Fisker facility and the supposed plan is to inspect and replace the hood, brackets, fenders and possibly the front windshield. We know of multiple others who had the same experience and actually spoke to someone who had the same accident days before ours. Fisker is fully aware. There were no warning lamps or alarms on the dashboard prior to the hood releasing and hitting the windshield. The hood is held on by two supposedly tightened bolts and does not appear to have a secondary safety latch.
