2024 Ford Bronco Sport Fuel system Problems

Owner-reported complaints naming the fuel system system, filed with NHTSA

Data refreshed

Fuel system reportsComplaints are reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a complaint does not establish that a defect exists. Volume is influenced by how many of a vehicle were sold, how long it has been on the road, and how much attention an issue has received.

On August 10, 2026, I conducted a recall search on NHTSA website for my 2024 Bronco Sport Big Bend edition. The search showed the following recall : JUL 16, 2025 Manufacturer Recall Number 25S76 NHTSA Recall Number 25V467 Recall Status Recall Incomplete, remedy not yet available Summary ON YOUR VEHICLE THERE IS A POSSIBILITY THAT A FUEL INJECTOR MAY CRACK, WHICH MAY RESULT IN FUEL ACCUMULATING ON THE TOP OF THE ENGINE. Safety Risk LIQUID FUEL AND OR FUEL VAPOR THAT ACCUMULATES NEAR A HOT SURFACE, SUCH AS HOT ENGINE OR EXHAUST COMPONENTS MAY IGNITE RESULTING IN AN UNDER-HOOD FIRE, INCREASING THE RISK OF INJURY. Remedy PARTS ARE NOT CURRENTLY AVAILABLE. FORD MOTOR COMPANY IS WORKING TO PROVIDE PARTS FOR THIS REPAIR. WHEN THE REMEDY BECOMES AVAILABLE, FORD MOTOR COMPANY WILL NOTIFY YOU VIA MAIL TO SCHEDULE A SERVICE APPOINTMENT WITH YOUR DEALER FOR REPAIRS TO BE COMPLETED FREE OF CHARGE. Ford Motor Company has had more than a year to identify and implement a solution to address the above-mentioned recall. As a Ford consumer, I believe this issue should have been treated as a higher priority, particularly given the amount of time that has passed since the original recall was issued. I understand that developing a safe and effective solution can take time; however, waiting more than a year without a resolution is unacceptable. As a consumer, I expect Ford Motor Company to take this matter seriously and provide a timely solution to affected customers.

I am very concerned because I have a letter dated August 2025 about this recall and nothing has been done yet. If something happens while I’m driving my car, I could have an under hood fire, resulting in risk of injury to myself or others in the vehicle. I feel it is taking entirely too long to fix this problem. It’s causing me a great deal of stress when I’m driving my vehicle.

January 10, 2026. My battery abruptly stalled. It was charged drove a few feet in the car just stopped. The car was towed, and the battery was deemed faulty and needed replacement. May 10. The engine coolant light came on. The car would turn on and then abruptly stalled. Mid traffic. The car again was towed and it was deemed had a faulty coolant pump. I asked for the fuel injection system to be looked at and they said my card does not have a Vin recall. These two prior issues established the fact that something is wrong with my vehicle and should have been included in the main Ford recall. I would like my VIN number added for the safety of my car and to be able to get the updates necessary for the fuel injection cracks that occur in this year bronco. The dealership is refusing to do this.

Driving on [XXX] . I smelled gasoline. My entire car smelled of it. Next I got a notification to service my vehicle soon. I immediately pulled over and called two Ford dealerships. Downers Grove and Naperville. Neither helped. I located I was close to a dealership. I went there. This is where I learned that underneath my car, wires had caught fire. My 2024 Ford Bronco Sport has had an open unrepaired safety recall (Ford 25S76 / NHTSA 25V467) for about 10 months. The recall states that a fuel injector may crack and create an under-hood fire risk. There is still no repair remedy available. Ford and the dealership have stated that they are trying to develop a solution until June 2026. This effectively means I am being told to continue driving a vehicle with a known fire risk for an unknown extended period of time. For the past 10 months, I have been driving this vehicle in fear. I use it every day to take my children to school, transport my family, and handle family responsibilities. I cannot afford to purchase another vehicle because I invested most of my money into this one. The dealership has not provided me with a clear solution or completed any repair related to this recall. I have also faced nearly $4,000 in mechanical repair costs on a vehicle with about 59,000 miles. I no longer feel safe or confident owning this vehicle. I am concerned that a fire could happen while driving or while parked, putting my family and surrounding property at risk.

How long do they have to complete repairs for this recall? This is an ongoing problem going back to Ford Escapes with the same problem going back to 2020. 6 years should be sufficient time for them to have come up for a solution for this recall.

Fire reported

Our 2024 Bronco Sport Outer Banks, 1.5 liter engine, purchased new from a Ford dealer 11/2024, serviced at the dealership and driven less than 14k miles, was destroyed by a spontaneous fire 3/22/2026. After driving 12 miles, we parked in a parking lot. Upon exiting the car we noticed a burning smell and saw small plumes of steam or smoke coming from under the car hood. Within a minute a red/orange disc of heated metal became visible on the hood surface as flames came from under the hood. Seven minutes later the fire department arrived extinguishing the fire. The car was destroyed. There were no warnings of any kind. The events suggest a cracked fuel injector. Even though 15 foot flames engulfed the car it was parked and unoccupied, there were no injuries. The results of the investigation have not been reported to us. CCTV footage was obtained from the police.

At least 6 times now my gas guage has plummeted from 60+ miles to 6 then 2 and none in less than a mile. Thus has left me standed after midnight on the side of the highway and other various places. I had to use the road side help ford offered. It happens often and doinng deliveries this is very scary for me. I never know how much gas i have. I feel like im constantly putting in gas. I looked up the symptoms and found on reddit quite a few people experience the same. This could be very dangerous to me and other drivers constantly getting stranded on side of road or in the middle of the road. This is a new car im Paying alot of money for. And should feel as safe as possible while driving

I reached out to ford due to my 2024 bronco sport overheating and running hot. During the time of that complaint I was advised that my bronco currently has a recall that the fuel tank needs to be replaced but it is currently being deemed as non safety and will only be addressed if the vehicle is in for service. I was also advised that due to this recall it is currently a part of fords customer satisfaction program. Anything fuel related should be deemed as a safety recall considering fuel is a flammable chemical. I have requested a buy back as I no longer feel safe operating the vehicle or comfortable transporting my daughter in the vehicle as it aligns too closely with the known fuel safety recall currently present on some 2021-2024 bronco sports.
