2024 Ford Bronco Sport Problems

Owner-reported complaints filed with NHTSA, grouped by component

Data refreshed

Owner complaintsComplaints are reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a complaint does not establish that a defect exists. Volume is influenced by how many of a vehicle were sold, how long it has been on the road, and how much attention an issue has received.

What this page shows

Everything below is an owner-reported complaint submitted to NHTSA about the 2024 Ford Bronco Sport, grouped by the component NHTSA recorded on the report. These are not confirmed defects, and they are not recalls. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a category with more reports in it is not evidence that a part is defective.

Complaints are reports submitted by owners and drivers to NHTSA. They are not verified and do not establish that a defect exists.

I purchased a new 2024 Ford Bronco Sport on XXX from Sayville Ford in [XXX]. They failed to disclose an unremedied safety recall (24V-267) on the vehicle that was issued on XXX and still sold me the vehicle. When I went back to them after seeing that there was a recall on the car, they denied the existence of the recall despite me showing them the recall notice on both the NHTSA and Ford websites. Last year there was another safety recall for leaking fuel injectors (25V-467) that I brought my car in for service, and they claimed to have done a software fix. Upon checking the recall checked on the NHTSA website (6 months after service) it lists that the safety recall work was never performed, despite the dealership keeping my car for the entire day and telling me the work was performed. This dealership has been evasive and deceptive when I have confronted them about these issues and should be examined and fined for their practices. reports

I own a 2024 Ford Bronco Sport equipped with the 1.5L EcoBoost 3-cylinder engine. On September 22, 2026, I remote-started the vehicle for approximately 10 minutes before leaving for work. The engine temperature reached its normal operating temperature, but the HVAC system produced no warm air even with the temperature set to 84°F/HI. I drove approximately 15 minutes to work and still had no heat. I subsequently inspected the coolant reservoir and found the coolant level to be extremely low. I added approximately one-half gallon of the correct 50/50 coolant. After adding the coolant, the vehicle produced hot air from the heater again during the drive home. After parking the vehicle, I checked the coolant reservoir again several hours later and found that the coolant level had dropped back to essentially empty. I did not observe any coolant on the ground or an obvious external leak. When I opened the coolant reservoir cap after the vehicle had been sitting for more than two hours, I heard pressure escaping from the system. The vehicle has not displayed an obvious overheating condition, and the temperature gauge has remained at its normal operating position. I have scheduled an appointment with a Ford dealer to diagnose the vehicle. I am reporting this because Ford has issued technical service bulletins concerning loss of engine coolant from a coolant-pump leak on 2021–2024 Ford Bronco Sport vehicles equipped with the 1.5L EcoBoost engine. TSB 25-2063 superseded 25-2016, and a subsequent TSB, 25-2428, superseded 25-2063. These bulletins identify coolant-pump leakage and prescribe pressure testing, cooling-system flushing, and coolant-pump replacement when the condition is confirmed. I am concerned about the rapid loss of coolant and the possibility of engine damage or an overheating event if the condition is not detected.

The contact owns a 2024 Ford Bronco Sport. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle lost drive power and failed to accelerate properly. The App notified the driver of the powertrain failure. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and was diagnosed with powertrain failure. The dealer replaced the knock sensor approximately 5 - 6 times but the failure persisted. The vehicle was taken to a different dealer, Ed Morse Ford Sierra Vista (100 AZ-90, Sierra Vista, AZ 85635); to be diagnosed, and the knock sensor was replaced. The second dealer had also replaced the engine twice, but the failure reoccurred while driving approximately 70 MPH, and the vehicle was coasted to the side of the road. The vehicle was towed to a third dealer, Jim Click Ford (6244 E 22nd St Tuscan AZ 85711). The dealer diagnosed that the fuel system and computer calibration had not been completed and corrected the issue. The following day, the powertrain failure reoccurred, and the vehicle was towed back to the third dealer. The contact was informed that the knock sensors and the powertrain control module needed to be replaced; however, the vehicle was still not running properly, and the dealer replaced the engine again. The vehicle was returned to the owner, and the powertrain failure reoccurred, and the vehicle was taken to the fourth dealer, Fairway Ford (2323 Laurens Rd, Greenville, SC 29607), who replaced the same parts as the third dealer. However, shortly after retrieving the vehicle, the engine lost drive power again. The dealer was contacted, and the dealer then referred the contact to another dealer. After speaking with the manufacturer several times, the contact reached out to the dealer and was informed that the manufacturer instructed the dealer not to make any additional repairs to the vehicle even though the vehicle had an extended warranty. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue and opened a case. The failure mileage was approximately 111,000.

The contact owns a 2024 Ford Bronco Sport. The contact stated that while visiting Florida, the vehicle developed a flat tire. The contact stated that one month later the failure reoccurred. The vehicle was taken to a dealer to be diagnosed, and the contact was informed that the differential was damaged after the dealer had installed an incompatible tire on the vehicle. The dealer confirmed that the failure was caused by the mismatched tire installed on the vehicle. The contact was informed that all four tires needed to be replaced and the differential also needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The differential failure was addressed; however, the tires were not replaced because the contact stated that the mismatched tire installation was a dealer error.

On XXX, driving at a relatively low rate of speed coming off the on-ramp from [XXX] onto [XXX], the hood of our Thrifty rental vehicle, a 2024 Ford Bronco, suddenly and without warning, flew up and completely obstructed the windshield. As we had just entered the highway we were quite fortunate to have been in the right hand lane and able to safely pull into the breakdown lane. And even more fortunate that there were not cars immediately ahead or behind us that we could have hit. And third, very fortunate that the force of the hood did not shatter the windshield. The hood flew up with such force that it essentially "wedged" itself into the side edges of the car and had to be manually dislodged to be closed. Some tube or coil-like structure on the right side of the car had been split in two by the force (later learned this was the windshield wiper fluid hose). Two other points of importance - it was very windy that day. And there was absolutely no warning on the dashboard system that the hood was ajar or anything to that effect. We drove at a very low rate of speed to the next exit to find a service station where the car could be inspected before driving the 3 hours on to [XXX]. The mechanic stated the problem had been with the hood latch, but it appeared safe for us to drive. On returning the car to Thrifty, a verbal report was immediately given, but it seemed strange to me that no paperwork was filled out. The woman processing cars wrote down "windshield wiper hose" and left to move some vehicles. I waited for about 10 minutes, but she didn't return. Research upon my return home revealed similar problems reported with other Ford Broncos - both with the hood opening unexpectedly while driving and with faulty dashboard warning systems. [XXX] I was contacted by Thrifty's 3rd party vendor handling "damage incidents" - PurCo and related these events. They claim Thrifty sees no problem on their end. 225/65 R 17 A small sliver of wood Punctured the sidewall which is unbelievable that a tire would be that weak from what appears to be a blunt puncture on a Ford Bronco Sport made for all kinds of off and on road driving conditions and something as small as a flattened tooth pick would be sufficient as a safe tire. Looking at continental tires track record with sidewall rubber structural issues I suspect this is another defect and should be investigated and recalled before causing property damage ,serious injury or death due to sidewall issues .

Clonninger Auto Body Shop 511 Jake Alexander Blvd S Salisbury NC 28147 The 2024 Bronco Sport owned by Megan Michaels was presented to our service department with a customer concern of a rattling noise coming from the rear of the vehicle, along with abnormal tire wear on the rear tires. Our Master Technician performed a road test and verified a clunking/rattling noise originating from the left rear of the vehicle. The vehicle was then lifted, and a comprehensive inspection of the rear suspension system was completed. During inspection, it was determined that the left rear lower control arm mounting point at the body has structurally failed. The mounting location where the control arm attaches to the body has separated from the vehicle’s floor structure, allowing the control arm to shift from its proper position into the body cavity where it should normally be securely supported. This condition has caused:  Excessive movement within the rear suspension system  The confirmed clunking/rattling noise  Abnormal rear tire wear due to improper alignment and instability Cause of Failure: The failure is the result of a structural separation of the lower control arm mounting point from the vehicle’s body. This is a failure of the vehicle’s structural floor assembly and is not related to a replaceable suspension component. Required Repair: Due to the extent of the structural damage, the vehicle will require replacement of the complete floor pan assembly in order to restore proper mounting integrity of the suspension system and ensure safe vehicle operation. If you have any questions or require additional documentation, please contact our service department directly.
