Owner-reported complaints naming the body or structure system, filed with NHTSA
Data refreshed
Body & structure reportsComplaints are reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a complaint does not establish that a defect exists. Volume is influenced by how many of a vehicle were sold, how long it has been on the road, and how much attention an issue has received.

The contact owns a 2010 Ford Edge. The contact stated that while his brother was driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle experienced unintended acceleration. During the failure, the braking system malfunctioned, causing the brake pedal to extend to the floorboard and the vehicle failed to stop immediately. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who was unable to determine the cause of the failure. Additionally, while the vehicle was in for service it was discovered that the subframe was rusted. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer was not yet contacted. The failure mileage was 114,116.

Interior driver's side door latch is covered with a metal-like substance which appears to be chrome. The metal has cracked/split along the top of the latch, where the driver places fingers to open the door. The owner/driver of this vehicle was injured by this latch on 6/6/2021, and suffered a finger laceration which required bandaging but not stitches.

DOOR AJAR LIGHT CONTINUALLY WENT ON AND OFF WHILE IN MOTION WHETHER ON A HIGHWAY OR CITY STREET. NOTICED IT ALSO WENT ON DURING LEFT TURNS. DOOR LOCKS ON ALL DOORS WOULD CLICK ON AND OFF AT STOPS. I WASN'T SURE THAT DOORS WERE LOCKED WITH MY CHILDREN IN THE CAR. INTERNAL LIGHTS WOULD ALSO GO ON AN OFF. COMMON ISSUE ON THE INTERNET WITH FORD EDGES. IT'S ALL OVER AND FOR YEARS. I HAVE YOUNG CHILDREN AND HAD TO GET THE ISSUE FIXED AT A COST OF $542.83. I BELIEVE FORD NEEDS TO PAY FOR THIS SAFETY ISSUE. THE PART NUMBER TO REPLACE WAS THE LATCH PART NUMBER 8T4Z 78264A27 A. SO A NEW DOOR LATCH NEEDED TO BE INSTALLED ALONG WITH THE REPAIR OF A WIRE IN THE DOOR HARNESS NEAR THE LH SIDE OF THE DOOR SPEAKER. I AM THE ORIGINAL OWNER OF THIS VEHICLE.

WHEN I TOOK MY CAR BACK FOR REPAIR, THEY CRACKED MY WINDSHIELD AND VOMITED IN MY VEHICLE

MARCH19, 2017 WHILE DRIVING 20 MPH FROM OUR NEIGHBORHOOD TO CHURCH WITH MY WIFE, THERE WAS A LOUD CLUNKING FROM FRONT PASSENGER SIDE. WE TURNED ONTO THE MAIN ROAD AND AS SPEED INCREASED TO 55 MPH, THE WINDSHIELD CRACKED AND I NOTICED THE HOOD OF CAR WAS RAISED UP ABOUT AN INCH ABOVE THE FENDER. WE IMMEDIATELY TURNED AROUND AND DROVE SLOWLY BACK TO THE HOUSE. THE ATTACHED PHOTOS SHOW WHAT HAD HAPPENED. THERE IS CONSIDERABLE DAMAGE TO THE SHEET METAL BODY COMPONENTS, WINDSHIELD, PLASTIC PARTS. THERE ARE MANY SIMILAR EXAMPLES OF THE STRUT TOWER SPOT WELD FAILURE REPORTED ON THE INTERNET. ALL SEEM TO BE ON THE PASSENGER SIDE.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 FORD EDGE. WHILE DRIVING AT SPEEDS OF 25 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE FAILURE OCCURRED ON THREE SEPARATE OCCASIONS AND WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE DEALER ADVISED THERE WAS A MOUSE LIVING IN THE VEHICLE AND EATING THE AIR FILTER AND SENSORS. THERE WERE UNKNOWN REPAIRS MADE TO THE VEHICLE HOWEVER, THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE CONTACT BELIEVED THERE TO BE A DESIGN FLAW IN THE VEHICLE THAT WOULD ALLOW A MOUSE TO LIVE AND DAMAGE THE VEHICLE. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 10,000.
