Reports naming forward-collision avoidance, lane keeping, back-over prevention, cruise control and related electronic driver-assistance systems.
From owner reports, verbatim
The gas pedal got stuck while I was driving. I couldn't stop it and lost control. It caused a horrific car accident. 10 people were involved and I'm currently fighting the case in court to prove I was not reckless. It has been inspected by my insurance but unfortunately it was only for damages and not for mechanical issues regarding the gas pedal.
WHILE IN DRIVE AT IDLE SPEED THE TRUCKS RPM JUMPED TO APPROXIMATELY 4000 RPM INSTANTLY . I HAD TO PUSH MY FOOT BRAKE AS HARD AS I COULD AND PUT SHIFTER IN NEUTRAL THEN IT WAS OK FOR A WHILE THEN THIS HAPPENED AGAIN SEVERAL WEEKS LATER TOOK TO DEALER NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COULD NOT FIND A PROBLEM VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION.

This vehicle has been a lemon ever since we purchased it new. To start the 3rd brake light would always leak during rain and ruined the headliner took it back to andy mohr ford were we purchased approx 25 times for this issue. Then we have had oil leaks about a year after purchase and it still leaks. Third the fender wells are rusting. And also all the lights on the dash are lit because the computer board failed. To date the truck only has 147k miles. This truck has been a lemon the whole time we have owned it and i am tired of sinking money in this junker. Ford needs to be held responsible for every vehicle off there assembly line.

Frame of the body is completely rusted through to the point that it is almost unsafe to drive. It was identified when attempting to replace the rocker panel on the passenger side and the list put a hole in the frame. The vehicle has been well maintained but the amount of rust seems unusual for the age of the vehicle. I know the previous owner and he took painstakingly good care of the vehicle and it has been driven very little since I purchased it a couple of years back. The fix is to repair the frame at the cost of $3k plus or let it rust away completely. The amount of rust does not add up and I see similar issues with thousands of comments online.
Steering
Reports naming the steering system — racks, columns, power-steering assist and steering linkage.
From owner reports, verbatim
The contact owns a 2009 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while his son was driving at approximately 25 MPH, the steering wheel detached. The contact called the local dealer, who referred him to an independent mechanic for assistance. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic, who replaced the standard clockspring in the steering wheel, part number CSP200. The manufacturer was contacted, and the contact was informed that the vehicle was too old, and no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 128,000.

Powertrain reports that are not specifically the engine or transmission — driveshafts, axles, transfer cases and differentials.
From owner reports, verbatim
Random downshift to first gear while traveling down the highway at 70mph resulting in wheel lock-up and engine redline.
My vehicle occasionally gets stuck in a low gear. It has also stalled in a busy intersection. I have taken it to be diagnosed at an independent service center that specializes in transmissions and was told that the problem was the lead frame which has been recalled on later models of my vehicle.
Fuel system
Reports naming fuel storage or delivery — tanks, pumps, lines, injectors and fuel leaks.
From owner reports, verbatim
There's been recalls on the 2009 Ford f150 and my car is having hydraulic pump issues and a couple other issues that were recalled and I was just trying to get some assistance?

MICHELIN HAD A SAFETY RECALL FOR DOT B99Y 56EX 3812-2113 OF ITS LTX M/S P275/55R20 111T FOR "AFFECTED TIRES COULD HAVE PARTIAL OR FULL SIDEWALL PERFORATIONS THAT COULD CAUSE THEM TO EXPERIENCE LOSS OF AIR PRESSURE ' I PURCHASED THE LTX M/S P275/55R20 DOT B79Y 56EX 1913 MADE IN THE SAME TIME FRAME FOR MY 2009 FORD F-150 ON 06/08/2013. ON AUGUST 23, 2016, WHILE ON A 70MPH HIGHWAY, I SUFFERED A BLOWOUT. THE ENTIRE ANTERIOR SIDEWALL WAS AFFECTED WITH MANY CHUNKS OF THE TIRE MISSING, WHILE THE INTERIOR SIDEWALL WAS TOTALLY UNAFFECTED. I AM CAREFUL WITH MY TIRE PRESSURES AND ROTATION. NONE OF THE TIRES SHOW UNEVEN OR ODD WEAR. I DON'T BELIEVE I RAN OVER ANYTHING. I HAVE ALL FOUR TIRES IN MY POSSESSION AND AVAILABLE FOR INSPECTION. I THINK MICHELIN HAS A GREATER PROBLEM THAN THE DOT RANGE OF THEIR VOLUNTARY RECALL. I THINK THE DOT NEEDS TO BE AWARE OF THIS SO THAT IF THIS PROVES TO BE A MORE WIDESPREAD PROBLEM, MICHELIN CAN BE REQUIRED TO RECALL ALL AFFECTED TIRES.

Reports naming the air-bag system — deployment behaviour, inflators, sensors and warning lights.
From owner reports, verbatim
My airbag warning light came on. The dealer found 2 codes and replaced the parts. When they were done another code came up for weight sensor which is the seat frame. I was told that the part has been discontinued. I have searched for an aftermarket part with no luck. I purchased a used seat but it was not compatible I have a16 year old truck. The service life is as I understand it is 14-20 years. I don’t understand how the manufacturer can stop making safety parts while the vehicle is still in its service life
AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY UPON SIDE IMPACT FROM DRIVER GOING 40-50MPH AND AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY FOR FRONT IMPACT INTO POLE. I WAS CROSSING INTERSECTION HAS THE LIGHT TURN GREEN AND WAS HIT BY A DRIVER WHO RAN RED LIGHT. THE CAR PUSH THE TRUCK INTO A LIGHT POLE AND THE ENGINE BAY WRAP AROUND IT.

3RD BRAKE LIGHT LAMP LEAKS AND HAS FOR THE LAST 3- 4 MONTHS. WATER LEAKS AROUND THE LIGHT AND DRIPS DOWN THE CEILING OF THE CAB DOWN BACK WALL OF THE TRUCK INTO THE CARPET OF MY TRUCK. IT GOING TO USE IT TO START TO SMELL AND MOLD. I CALLED THE LOCAL FORD DEALER REPAIR SHOP THEY TOLD ME HE HAS REPLACED HUNDREDS OF THESE LAMPS AND THE NEW FORD PART NEVER LEAKS WHILE HE HAS SEEN SEVERAL OF THE AFTER MARKET ONES ALWAYS LEAK. FORD SHOULD REPLACE ALL OF THESE AT THEIR EXPENSE, AS THEY OBVIOUSLY HAVE A GASKET DESIGN FLAW.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT AFTER SEVERE RAIN, WATER LEAKED THROUGH THE THIRD BRAKE LIGHT AND AN ACCUMULATION OF WATER LEAKED INTO THE HEADLINER OF THE VEHICLE. A STRONG MILDEW ODOR EMITTED INSIDE OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE THIRD BRAKE LIGHT WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER HAS NEVER BEEN NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 78,000. Other / unspecified
Reports whose component NHTSA recorded as unknown, or that do not map to one of the categories above.
From owner reports, verbatim
THE RIGHT FRONT FLEXIBLE BRAKE LINE DETERIORATED AT THE CRIMPED FITTING. THE DETERIORATION IS ON THE INSIDE OF THE LINE AT THE CRIMP. THE DETERIORATION ACTS LIKE A CHECK VALVE ALLOWING THE APPLICATION OF THE BRAKE BUT NOT RELEASE OF BRAKING PRESSURE. I HAVE VERIFIED THIS ON THREE (3) REPLACEMENTS. THE ORIGINAL LINE WAS REPLACED AT ABOUT 120K AND NON OEM AT ABOUT 20K.
I TURNED MY TRUCK ON AFTER IT SAT OVERNIGHT AND THE ABS AND EMERGENCY BRAKE LIGHTS WERE ILLUMINATED ON THE DASH CLUSTER. TOOK THE TRUCK INTO A LOCAL PART STORE AND HAD A OBD2 READER HOOKED UP AND IT PULLED ABS CONTROL MODULE CODE. I TOOK INTO A AUTO SHOP AND THEY WERE PULL THE CODE AND DECIPHER WHAT THE ACTUAL PROBLEM WAS. THE ABS CONTROL MODULE COMPLETELY STOPPED WORKING.

THE DEALER THEN TOLD THE CONTACT THAT THE VEHICLE WAS DESIGNED TO SHIFT IN THE MANNER THAT IS WAS AND THAT THERE WAS NOTHING THAT COULD BE DONE TO CORRECT THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT BELIEVED THE FAILURE WAS A SAFETY ISSUE BECAUSE THERE WAS A DELAY IN ACCELERATION GOING FROM SECOND TO THIRD GEARS. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 18,500 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 24,152. UPDATED 11/18/11*LJ THE CONSUMER ALSO STATED THERE WAS A DELAY GOING FROM FIRST TO SECOND GEAR. THE DEALER REPROGRAMMED THE TCM/PCM AND RESET THE ADAPTIVE SHIFT STRATEGIES. UPDATED 03/05/12
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT STATED THE TRANSMISSION HAD BEEN EXHIBITING PROBLEMS SINCE THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT HE WAS TAKING THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER FOR THE FORTH TIME FOR TRANSMISSION FAILURES. THE DEALER ADVISED THAT THE MANUFACTURER WAS USING A DIFFERENT TYPE OF TRANSMISSION FOR HIS PARTICULAR YEAR, MAKE AND MODEL VEHICLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE TRANSMISSION FLUID WAS LEAKING ABNORMALLY, THE INTERNAL WIRING HARNESS WAS REPLACED AS WELL AS THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION GASKET. THE VEHICLE WAS SHIFTING EXTREMELY HARD AND EXHIBITING A LOUD BANG SOUND WHEN SHIFTING BETWEEN ANY GEAR. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT FURTHER REPAIRED. Seat belts
Reports naming seat belts, buckles, retractors and pretensioners.
From owner reports, verbatim
SEAT BELT MECHANISM IN THE DRIVERS SIDE, REAR DOOR FAILS TO RECOIL BACK THEREFORE, THE MAIN MECHANISM AT THE BOTTOM TWISTS AND I AM NOT ABLE TO EXTEND THE SEAT BELT SAFELY UNLESS I REOPEN THE DOOR AND UNWIND THE SEAT BELT (THIS HAPPENS BEFORE I PUT MY TRUCK IN MOTION AND SOMETIMES I DO NOT REALIZE IT IS TWISTED UNTIL THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION AND I HAVE TO PULL OVER AND UNTWIST THE SEAT BELT).....ALSO, THIS HAS CAUSED THE RUBBER/PLASTIC PIECE ALONG THE SIDE OF THE FLOOR ON THE DRIVERS SIDE TO TEAR, EXPOSING WIRES, WHICH ARE ALSO A SAFETY ISSUE.
WHILE ON VACATION MY 13 YEAR OLD GRANDDAUGHTER WAS LYING DOWN AND HAD HER SEAT BELT AROUND HER WHEN SHE SAT UP THE BELT BECAME LOCKED AND WE WERE UNABLE TO RELEASE IT. I TRIED TO GET IT TO RELEASE BUT IT TIGHTENED EVEN MORE. MY HUSBAND THEREFORE HAD TO CUT THE SEATBELT TO GET HER OUT AS IT HAD TIGHTEN TO THE POINT THAT HER STOMACH WAS SQUEEZED SO TIGHT IT WAS MAKING HER CRY. I THOUGHT AT FIRST IT WAS BECAUSE SHE HAD BEEN LYING DOWN. NOW THE OTHER SCENARIO IS ON AUGUST 12, 2010 MY SEAT BELT WAS BECOMING UNCOMFORTABLE SO I WENT TO PULL IT DOWN, IT LOCKED AND I HAD TO UNHOOK IT TO GET IT TO RELEASE AND THAT TOOK SEVERAL TRIES. I HAVE NOT FIXED THE SEAT BELT. I AM ALSO REPORTING THIS IN CASE ANOTHER PERSON SHOULD HAVE A SIMILAR EXPERIENCE. THE VEHICLE IS A 2009 FORD F 150. FOR THE RECORD THIS WAS TWO DIFFERENT INCIDENTS. MY GRANDDAUGHTER WAS JULY 29 AND MINE WAS AUGUST 12. *TR

WHILE DRIVING HOME FROM WORK ON THE MORNING OF OCTOBER 5 2019, I HEARD A LOUD POP ABOVE MY HEAD. I SLOWLY PUSHED BACK THE SUNROOF VISOR TO GET A LOOK, AND THE GLASS HAD EXPLODED OUTWARD. NOTHING APPEARS TO HAVE STRUCK THE GLASS. I PULLED OFF THE HIGHWAY AS SOON AS I WAS ABLE, PULLED INTO A PARKING LOT TO INSPECT AND TAKE PHOTOS. SHORTLY AFTER THAT I DROVE IT A FEW BLOCKS TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP AND GOT A SERVICE PERSON TO INSPECT IT AS WELL, AND HE AGREED WITH MY ASSESSMENT OF THE WAY IT BROKE. I GOT A VERBAL ESTIMATE FOR THE REPAIR OF THE GLASS AND THE TRACK.
2009 F150 SUPERCREW XLT. THE DASH REFLECTS ONTO THE WINDSHIELD CAUSING VISIBILITY PROBLEMS. IT IS LIKE A HEADSUP IN A FIGHTER AIRCRAFT. LAYING A BLACK PIECE OF FELT CLOTH STOPS THE PROBLEM, BUT THE CLOTH CAUSES A PROBLEM SLIDING OFF. THE DASH MATERIAL IS TOO REFLECTIVE. *TR

THE TIRES WERE REPLACED, INCLUDING BALANCING. THE TRUCK WAS ALIGNED AND THE TIRES HAVE THE SAME AND PROPER AIR PRESSURE. THE TRUCK WOULD VIOLENTLY SHAKE EVERY TIME IT HIT ANY KIND OF SMALL BUMP. IT HAPPENED EVERY COUPLE OF MILES. THE SHAKING WAS SO BAD, IT FELT AS THOUGH, THE TIRES HAD BLOWN OUT. THE ONLY THING, THE CONSUMER COULD DO WAS STOP.
