2015 Ford F-250 Sd Electrical Problems

Owner-reported complaints naming the electrical system, filed with NHTSA

Data refreshed

Electrical reportsComplaints are reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a complaint does not establish that a defect exists. Volume is influenced by how many of a vehicle were sold, how long it has been on the road, and how much attention an issue has received.

The electical system seems to have a bad connection. This can sometimes be triggered when releasing the parking brake. Most often the issue occurs when driving where all gauges go offline and numerous errors are thrown on the display. Most times you can reconcile the issue by wiggling the wiring harness under the stearing wheel located near the parking brake. This vehicle has not been inspected. I have talked to local repair shops and they have verbally quoted prices too high to trace it down. It does not seem to be temperature related. Unplugging the wiring harnesses and plugging them back in does seem to help for a short period of time. This has occurred over 30 times in the past 2 years. The truck has less than 40,000 miles on it. The truck will not start when it is having this issue but thankfully will continue to run if already started.

The contact owns a 2015 Ford F-250. The contact stated that the battery warning light had appeared on the instrument panel. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where an inspection was performed; however, no defects were found with the vehicle. The contact then stated that while driving at 55 MPH, the instrument panel began to flash as several warning lights appeared on the instrument panel. The contact immediately turned around and headed home. The contact attempted to reverse(R) into the driveway; however, the transmission failed to operate as needed. The contact coasted the vehicle into the driveway and let the vehicle sit for two days. The contact then drove the vehicle to an independent mechanic where a defect with the wiring in the electrical system was found. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but offered no assistance. The contact was transferred unknowingly to the NHTSA Hotline. The failure mileage was approximately 285,000.

THE ABS SYSTEM AND THE ADVANCED AUTO TRAC MALFUNCTION AND CAUSES LOSS OF BREAKS. FORD CAN NOT DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM AND SEEMS UNWORRIED ABOUT THE ISSUE. I HAVE QUESTIONED FORD ABOUT THIS PROBLEM AND THE RESPONSE I GET IS IT COULD BE A NUMBER OF ISSUES. THEY WANT TO START CHANGING PARTS AT MY COST WITHOUT KNOWING WHAT IT IS OR NOT WANTING TO ADMIT WHAT THE PROBLEM IS. THIS HAPPENS WHEN THE TRUCK IS IN MOTION AND HAPPENS WITHOUT CAUSE. A BELL GOES OFF YOU LOSE POWER FOR A SHORT PERIOD OF TIME AND LOSE BREAKS FOR PERIODS OF TIME WHILE BELLS ARE GOING OFF.

THE TRUCK SEEMED TO BE RUNNING OUT OF GAS, SURGED, SPUTTER, SURGE SPUTTERED THEN QUIT RUNNING. I HAD 1/2 A TANK. HAD TO COST THE TRUCK A CROSSED SPEEDING TRAFFIC LANES AND CAME TO A STOP ON AN OVER PASS. HAD THE TRUCK TOWED TO THE DEALER. THE DEALER FINDINGS WERE A PROBLEM WITH THE FUEL PUMP AND CONTROLLER. THE DEALER STATED WHEN THEY ENTER THE CHECK ENGINE CODE (P0627) INTO THEIR WAN, THEY SHORTLY HAD A CALL FROM FORD ENGINEERING WANTING THE PARTS RETURNED TO THEM AND WITH INSTRUCTIONS NOT TO REPLACE THEM WITH THE SAME PART NUMBER. IT SEEMS THIS WAS A KNOWN ISSUE AND HAD BEEN FLAGGED IN THEIR NETWORK BY FORD ENGINEERING. IT SEEMS THIS ISSUE WAS UNKNOWN BY THE DEALERSHIP. IT BOTHERS ME GREATLY THAT THIS ISSUE IS KNOWN BY FORD ENGINEERING BUT THE DEALERS ARE SELLING NEW TRUCKS WITH THIS KNOWN DEFECT. THE NEW TRUCK HAS SAT AT THE DEALER FOR THREE WEEKS BECAUSE THE CONTROLLER PART IS NOT AVAILABLE. *TR

Higher-selling and older vehicles accumulate more reports. Counts are not failure rates and are not directly comparable between vehicles that sold in very different numbers.
