What this page shows
Everything below is an owner-reported complaint submitted to NHTSA about the 2015 Ford F-250 Sd, grouped by the component NHTSA recorded on the report. These are not confirmed defects, and they are not recalls. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a category with more reports in it is not evidence that a part is defective.
Complaints are reports submitted by owners and drivers to NHTSA. They are not verified and do not establish that a defect exists.

Steering
Reports naming the steering system — racks, columns, power-steering assist and steering linkage.
From owner reports, verbatim
We were on vacation driving from [XXX] to [XXX] and experienced the Death Wobble. I though we were going to die. We stopped in [XXX] and took to a dealership there and they replaced the track ball joint for $757.59. We left there and 25 miles down the road it happened again. Went to [XXX] and they kept the truck and we had to rent a truck to continue our vacation. We rent back on our way back to [XXX] and they had replaced the steering stabilizer shock for $733.53 but we were afraid to drive home so we paid for it to be transported back to [XXX]. We had to pay $1414.00 to have it transported back but at least we made it back safe. Experiencing this death wobble 11 times as a passenger has given me PTSD. Other / unspecified
Reports whose component NHTSA recorded as unknown, or that do not map to one of the categories above.
From owner reports, verbatim
I experienced what I now have come to understand is called the death wobble. It was terrifying and I was going about 60 mph on an interstate that was under construction. I hit minor bumps and the whole truck began to wobble back-and-forth violently. it would not stop until I came down to about 15 miles an hour, after that steering felt loose. I thought I was going to die. The incident chewed up my tires with pock marks everywhere.
When driving (Once going downhill 6% grade, several times driving level on the freeway and once on a 45 MPH road with ruts), the front end began shaking violently to the point I was losing control of the vehicle until I slowed down. The vehicle would be available for inspection upon request. Safety was impacted by the loss of control resulting from the vehicle violently shaking. I took the truck to a mechanic and he could not see any problems. Other than my mechanic, no one has inspected the vehicle. There were no warning lamps, messages, or symptoms prior to the event. I have dash cam video of the event.
Powertrain (other)
Powertrain reports that are not specifically the engine or transmission — driveshafts, axles, transfer cases and differentials.

Entire vehicle shakes/wobbles extremely uncontrollably going a speed around 65; have to slow to avoid an accident and put on hazards. Makes our heart stop not knowing what danger we have been put in when it occurs. Very scary and DANGEROUS to ourselves and others. Occurs with roadways involving dips, highways, ridges of bridges such as bumps or gaps, and/or differences in road, etc. This has occurred multiple times. ([XXX]) was another episode. This is SCARY DANGEROUS! No lights or indications go off. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

The contact owned a 2015 Ford F250. The contact stated that while driving at 35 MPH, the vehicle veered into the lane of oncoming traffic. As a result, the contact's vehicle hit an incoming vehicle head-on. As a result, the brakes failed to function, the contact's vehicle jumped over the embankment, and the vehicle came to a stop about 75 ft. down the embankment. The driver-side and passenger-side air bags did not deploy. Unknown if any warning lights were illuminated. A police report was filed. EMS was called. For about the last 12 months, my truck has what they call the death wobble. This is happened continuously at speeds of 40 to 60 miles an hour and sometimes even takes me off the road and I have to pull over and stop. In addition, I believe the brakes went out due to the continuous wobbling
Electrical
Reports naming the electrical system — wiring, battery, charging, control modules, infotainment and electrical accessories.
From owner reports, verbatim
The electical system seems to have a bad connection. This can sometimes be triggered when releasing the parking brake. Most often the issue occurs when driving where all gauges go offline and numerous errors are thrown on the display. Most times you can reconcile the issue by wiggling the wiring harness under the stearing wheel located near the parking brake. This vehicle has not been inspected. I have talked to local repair shops and they have verbally quoted prices too high to trace it down. It does not seem to be temperature related. Unplugging the wiring harnesses and plugging them back in does seem to help for a short period of time. This has occurred over 30 times in the past 2 years. The truck has less than 40,000 miles on it. The truck will not start when it is having this issue but thankfully will continue to run if already started.
The contact owns a 2015 Ford F-250. The contact stated that the battery warning light had appeared on the instrument panel. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where an inspection was performed; however, no defects were found with the vehicle. The contact then stated that while driving at 55 MPH, the instrument panel began to flash as several warning lights appeared on the instrument panel. The contact immediately turned around and headed home. The contact attempted to reverse(R) into the driveway; however, the transmission failed to operate as needed. The contact coasted the vehicle into the driveway and let the vehicle sit for two days. The contact then drove the vehicle to an independent mechanic where a defect with the wiring in the electrical system was found. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but offered no assistance. The contact was transferred unknowingly to the NHTSA Hotline. The failure mileage was approximately 285,000.
Body & structure
Reports naming the vehicle structure, frame, body panels, doors, hood and trim.
From owner reports, verbatim
Noted strange "thumping" sound in truck. Took to certified local mechanic who has worked on our vehicles since 2016. This truck has just over 117,000 miles, I am the original owner (ordered while stationed in Afghanistan) and there has never been an accident, there has been no reason for removal of the body from the frame unless the Ford dealership who repaired the missing wire harness when the truck was less than 90 days old had to remove the truck bed. Inspection of vehicle noted the bolts holding the body to the frame were missing. Vehicle is currently being repaired. The risk is the body could have come off the frame and potentially caused bodily or property damage. I contacted Ford but have not received any feedback other than the call center laughing at me for the situation. There were no warning lights on the dash nor codes given to my scanning tool by the vehicle. Mechanic stated this is the third F-Series of this generation they have seen this year with the exact same problem. Truck cannot be moved due to safety concerns, locked out/tagged out of service. Repairs will cost approximately $2,500 including time and materials.

FRONT POSITIONED AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY DURING FRONT END COLLISION. SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE INCURRED TO FRONT OF VEHICLE - GIVEN THE FORCE OF THE IMPACT, AIR BAGS SHOULD HAVE DEPLOYED. VEHICLE HAS IN MOTION ON A STATE HIGHWAY. I WAS TRAVELING APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH BEFORE SEEING A STOPPED VEHICLE IN THE ROADWAY. VERY LITTLE TIME TO APPLY BRAKE BEFORE IMPACT.
