No less than 6 occasions now I have experienced extreme shaking (death wobble) even after Ford replaced the steering damper. I'm done with the vehicle and will take it in again for this issue.
The contact owns a 2017 Ford F-250. The contact stated that while driving approximately 70-75 MPH, the vehicle drove over a bump in the roadway, and the front end of the vehicle started bouncing. The contact pulled over to the side of the road and then continued driving 45 MPH with no further issues. The dealer and the manufacturer were not contacted. The vehicle was not yet diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 68,000.

The contact owns a 2017 Ford F-250. The contact stated while driving approximately 50-60 MPH and hauling a trailer, the vehicle drove across uneven pavement, and the vehicle went into the death wobble and the vehicle became difficult to steer. The contact pulled over to the side of the road but found no cause for the failure. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the steering dampener had failed and needed to be replaced. The steering dampener was replaced. The dealer confirmed that the vehicle had been repaired under Customer Satisfaction Program: 20N04 (Steering, Equipment) but the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and confirmed that the VIN was not included the Customer Satisfaction Program. The manufacturer referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline to report the failure. The failure mileage was 78,699.

The contact owns a 2017 Ford F-250. The contact stated that rainwater was leaking from the passenger’s side windshield seal into the cabin of the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the local mechanic who diagnosed that the windshield seal was faulty and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The contact stated that the body control module was previously replaced due to water intrusion caused by the faulty windshield seal. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was offered. The local dealer was not contacted. The VIN was not available. The failure mileage was 50,000.

Fuel system

On 5/8/2026 at 1555 hours, while driving at normal freeway speed under normal driving conditions, vehicle began an exhaust system regeneration cycle. During the course of the region cycle, vehicle began to smoke excessively and realizing this wan not normal, I was able to yield to the right shoulder of the roadway. Almost immediately the vehicle ignited on fire and completely burned to the ground. The fire appeared to have commenced in the engine compartment, driver side near the firewall. The location of which appears to be consistent with reports of fuel filter failures I have read about in the past. The resulting fire ignited nearby brush which burned several hundred feet of brush and resulted in the spillage of diesel fuel and coolant which combined from the resulting melting of the coolant system and fuel tank and lines. This incident put both me and surrounding communities at risk, particularly from the resulting fire and HAZMAT spill. The vehicle was in good running condition prior to this incident. The incident was investigated by the Templeton California Highway Patrol.
I am reporting a serious safety issue involving my 2017 Ford F-250 diesel truck. While towing a 34-foot fifth wheel trailer and traveling from [XXX] to [XXX] , the vehicle experienced a sudden and dangerous failure near [XXX] . The engine warning light appeared, the vehicle went into low power mode, and then completely shut down on the highway. This created a serious safety hazard, particularly while towing a large trailer at highway speeds. The vehicle was towed to a repair facility where it was determined that the high-pressure fuel pump had catastrophically failed. The pump had developed a significant crack and released metal debris throughout the entire fuel system. This required extensive repairs, including: - Replacement of the high-pressure fuel pump - Replacement of fuel lines - Full fuel system cleaning, including the fuel tank The total repair cost exceeded $14,000 USD (near $20,000 CAD). The mechanic indicated that this type of failure should not occur under normal operating conditions. Additionally, the Ford parts dealer advised that the failed fuel pump could be returned for credit, suggesting the failure may not be consistent with normal wear and tear. This failure occurred suddenly, without warning, and resulted in a complete loss of power while driving, which I believe represents a significant safety concern. I respectfully request that NHTSA investigate this issue as a potential safety-related defect involving high-pressure fuel pumps in diesel vehicles. Electrical short behind dashboard. No signs of failure until it caught on fire. Interior was in flames in under 2 minutes.
On [XXX], I went to start my 2017 Ford F-250 Super Duty (6.2L) and found that it would crank but not start. On [XXX], I had the truck towed to a local certified repair shop. They diagnosed that the fuel pump control module overheated and melted into the fuse box, causing extensive electrical damage and frying the main wire harness that connects to the fuse box. This is not something that should happen on a well-maintained vehicle with only 75,688 miles. I paid $2,600 for repairs out of pocket. The shop also informed me that this type of electrical failure could have easily caused a fire, especially since the truck was parked in my garage at the time of failure. This appears to be a serious electrical defect and a potential fire hazard. I’m requesting that Ford and NHTSA investigate this issue for possible recall or safety action. The contact owned a 2017 Ford F-250. The contact stated while driving 22 MPH and attempting to depress the brake pedal, the brake pedal was firm and difficult to depress. The brake pedal was depressed with both feet and the vehicle started slowing down. There was no warning light illuminated. After coming to a complete stop, the contact saw smoke coming from the grill underneath the windshield wipers and the lower windshield. The contact exited the vehicle and there was fire coming from the engine compartment and entering the cabin of the vehicle. The contact exited the vehicle, ran to the neighbor’s house and grabbed the garden hose and started spraying water on the hood; however, smoke and the fire increased and the fire was too hot for the house to put out the flames. The contact called 9-1-1 for assistance and the Fire Department arrived on the scene and extinguished the Fire. The Police showed up on scene to direct traffic. There was no injuries sustained. A Police Report was filed, but the report number was not provided. The vehicle was towed to the residence. The vehicle was destroyed. The manufacturer was informed of the failure and opened a case and provided the contact with the case number. The failure mileage was approximately 190,000.
While pulling a 38ft 5th wheel camper on an incline with the cruise control set at random the vehicle completely dies. It experiences a total shutdown of the engine, which in return causes a complete loss of power steering, brakes etc. The truck will not restart until you push the off button and open the drivers door to shut the entire system down

The contact owns a 2017 Ford F-250. The contact stated while reversing at an undisclosed speed, the rearview camera was inoperable. No warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed and determined that the rearview camera needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure persisted. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline to report the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 80,000.
The contact owns a 2017 Ford F-250. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the back over prevention camera displayed a black screen. In addition, the back over prevention screen displayed an unknown error message. The contact stated that the failure occurred intermittently. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed with a failed back over prevention camera and faulty wiring. The contact was informed that the wiring and back over prevention camera needed to be replaced. The vehicle was being repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure and advised the contact to report the failure to the NHTSA Hotline. The failure mileage was approximately 75,000.

Vehicle was parked on a hill. At the time the vehicle was pulling a light weight trailer (empty). The vehicle was in park when the engine was shutoff. Owner went inside the house, came back out 5 minutes later to find the vehicle had rolled unattended backwards causing the trailer to jack knife. The result was damage to the truck and trailer. This was very lucky considering another vehicle could have come over the hill and hit the truck and trailer and people could have been injured. This is the third instance of this truck rolling unattended. I have contacted Ford, written complaints. A recall was released that fixes a known transmission issue with near VIN numbers but it does not effect this vehicle. Please help.
Engine stalls out of nowhere regardless of speed , highway,street,driveway and is now non drivable.

Instrument tech here. I Checked all fueses. Ran wire traces and found no brakes in wiring. Faulty seatbelt pertitioners.This should be a recall.
The contact owns a 2017 Ford F-250. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the tailgate would unexpectedly open without warning, causing material to fall out of the vehicle. Additionally, the contact stated that the tailgate would fail to open when pressing the button on the key fob or when attempting to manually open the tailgate. Upon investigation, the contact discovered NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V864000 (LATCHES/LOCKS/LINKAGES) which was linked to the failure. The dealer nor the manufacturer had yet to be notified of the failure. The vehicle had yet to be serviced or repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 90,000.

Brakes were working normal and then all of a sudden there were no brakes. Dry pavement. No antilock. Pushed pedal with both feet as hard as i could released tried again, nothing. Pedal was hard and had no "Feeling", no movement. When brakes went out pedal did not move . Swerved through intersection missing stopped vehicles. 30 seconds later the brakes came back and started to work again and the pedal had "feeling" back in it. Dash Cam Video of incident.

The contact retrieved the sunroof from the road and the vehicle was later taken to the dealer. The cause of the failure was not determined. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The contact owns a 2017 Ford F-250. The contact stated that while driving approximately 50-55 MPH the steering wheel began aggressively shaking causing them to crash into another vehicle. The air bags did not deploy. Both the vehicles received damage to the driver-side view mirror. The vehicle was able to be driven from the scene. There were no warning lights illuminated. A police report was filed. There were no injuries and no medical attention was needed. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it had not been diagnosed. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 111,000.

I took my truck into the dealership Ford of Upland for recalls on [XXX] (136923 miles) outstanding field service actions [XXX], [XXX] , [XXX] , 21M05, [XXX] . I called to make an appointment and confirm if parts are needed for these recalls that they had them and nothing was on backorder. Cabral Lillian let me know they had everything the truck would be done in 1.5 days at most. About 2hours before they closed on day 2 i called to see when i could pickup. She told me they just started the [XXX] and it would be ready in one hour. When i went to pick up I was informed that was the only recall that they did. I asked why she said they did not have the other parts, i explained to her when i made the appointment she they had everything. She just said they would call me when they have the parts. I called a handful of times to check status of the parts , kept saying they dont have them. Finally i emailed Lillian [XXX] and [XXX] no reply. I went ahead and emailed all the main people in the service department [XXX] Steven Isip service director said he would look into this. All that happened was he had Lillian call me and said they had the camera [XXX] ) and i could make an appointment it would take 2 day to complete. My husband called citrus Ford to see if they could do the recalls. They set the appointment [XXX] ( 147665 miles) had it done same day. I didn't look over all the paperwork and didn't see that the other recalls were not addressed. Until [XXX] the tailgate opened on its own . That's when i looked at the paperwork from citrus ford, saw that the only recall was done camera. I did, and call Ford customer service and explained what happened, they saw my truck service records gave in a case#. [XXX] all the exterior started flashing, horn, tailgate started going crazy. Dropped the truck off [XXX] 6:30am 154,000 miles. The cab roof clearance lights leak water when it rains. The water leaks into the electronics in the overhead console and down the A-pillar. Dealer advises it is a nonwarranty issue under extended warranty and a commonly known issue on these. trucks.

The contact owns a 2017 Ford F-250 equipped with Super Swamper Tires (Tire Size: 37/1250/r20LT and DOT Number: 3u5hp3lx4720). The contact stated that while driving 50 mph when suddenly the rear driver-side tire had blown. The contact had pulled over to the side of the road and placed the spare tire on the vehicle. The vehicle was then taken to a tire shop that replaced all the tires on the vehicle with the same brand and size tire, however, the DOT Number was different from the one replaced (3u5hp3lx3921). The contact then stated the failure reoccurred with the new tire on the front driver-side of the vehicle while parked in the garage. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage of the vehicle was 29,000. The approximate failure mileage for the first tire was approximately 4,900 and for the second tire was 3,000.
TIRE FAILURES DURING TOWING LEXANI LT 275/65R20 TIRES ARE STATED TO HAVE 3750 MAX LOAD CAPACITY, 50% OF THE TIRES HAVE FAILED DURING NORMAL TOWING. HAVE NOT EXPERIENCED THE SAME WITH OTHER MANUFACTURERS AND FEEL THESE ARE NOT CAPABLE OF STATED CAPACITY.
