Filed Jul 29, 2026
The contact owns a 2024 Ford F-350 SD. The contact stated that the power windows independently rolled down while the vehicle was parked, causing water to enter the vehicle. The dealer was notified of the failure and performed an unknown remote software update; however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where the power window master switch replacement was recommended. The vehicle was not repaired. Additionally, the contact stated that while driving and towing a trailer, the message "Trailer Not Connected" was displayed, and the trailer exterior lights and brakes were inoperable intermittently. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 26V104000 (Electrical System, Exterior Lighting); and the vehicle was taken to the dealer, who performed the recall repair; however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer, where the integrated trailer module software update was performed a second time; however, the failure persisted. The contact was informed that the integrated trailer module needed to be replaced at the owner's expense. The contact stated that the recall repair failed to fix the vehicle. The dealer notified the manufacturer of the failures, but the manufacturer denied assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 50,000.

Crash reported1 injury reported
When vehicle was in Reverse parked in garage with garage door open, I removed my seatbelt and opened the door to exit vehicle believing it was actually in Park. The vehicle rolled backwards at idle speed as I tried to get back in to apply the foot brake. The open drivers door collided with the garage wall and stopped the vehicle before I could stop it with the brakes. A body shop manager doing an in home estimate told me that a 2024 F 350 has an Automatic Return to Park shift feature that should have immediately moved the column mounted shift to Park and applied the emergency brake. This feature was apparently installed in all Super Duty trucks in 2023 when the electric column shifter was added. It did neither of these things and collided with the wall damaging the wall and drivers door. I believe this is a defect in a safety critical system and filed a complaint with the Ford Customer Service Concerns department. They told me they would escalate to their general counsel but if I filed an insurance claim, that the complaint would no longer be active. No lawyer I contacted would take my case because a significant personal injury did not occur. I was advised to file insurance claim for both home and property policies.

In tow/haul mode on even a slight downgrade while towing a 9000lb fifth wheel camper even the slightest application of brakes causes an extreme downshift from 10th to 4th at highway speeds of 60+ mph revving the engine to over 5000rpms and causing slight rear wheel lockup on dry roads. This could be fatal on even slightly damp roads. This occurred multiple times

This is truck number two of two trucks with the same issue. I purchased 2, 2024 F350 Super Duty's for our Highway Dept. The camera systems on both trucks failed. This includes the backup camera and forward facing camera. I found a recall notice (24S66) for this exact problem affecting 2024 F350's. I brought mine to the dealership and was informed that my VIN was not included in the recall. The repair would cost $1,200. A check of the second trucks VIN was not included either. Interior & seats
Filed Apr 1, 2026
Here’s a clean, strong NHTSA synopsis that sticks to their rules (no personal info, clear safety framing, and specific details): --- **What happened:** The heated seat system in a 2024 Ford F-350 Super Duty Platinum exhibited excessive and uneven heat output in both the driver and passenger seats. While in use, the seat heaters produced a burning sensation at the skin level for both occupants, requiring the heaters to be turned off to avoid injury. The condition appears to involve the seat heating element and/or temperature regulation system. During a subsequent seat cover replacement, the heating element was exposed and showed visible signs of localized overheating, including distinct heat concentration patterns and degradation of the surrounding foam material. The component is available for inspection upon request. This condition presents a safety risk due to the potential for skin burns during normal operation. It also raises concern about possible overheating of seat materials if the system remains active for extended periods, such as during remote start or unattended operation, which could increase the risk of material damage or combustion. The issue was experienced multiple times and is not isolated to a single seating position. The problem has been visually confirmed by an installer during disassembly of the seat, though it is unknown if a dealer has formally documented the condition at this time. There were no warning lights, messages, or prior indicators before the excessive heat condition occurred.

Vehicle has gone into LIMP mode multiple times. Was driving the vehicle and the check engine light went on and the vehicle reduced its speed to 25 mph. This is very dangerous because the traffic was moving at 70 mph and could have rear ended me. The F350 has been at the dealership since March 18. The dealer has diagnosed it but claim they cannot get the part they need to fix it. They insist I return the loaner and drive the F350 home with the problem.

There is a TSB on the issue: SSM 53169 2023-2024 F-Super Duty - Popping/Thumping/Clunking/Knocking Noise From The Steering Column - Built On Or Before 12-Jul-2024 The vehicle was built prior to 12-Jul-2024.

I own the 2024 f350 dually truck and regularly tow heavy trailers for commercial transport under DOT regulations. I have experienced repeated intermittent failures involving the truck’s trailer brake and trailer lighting system. While towing, the truck intermittently displays warning messages on the dashboard such as “Trailer Brake Module Fault” and “Trailer Light Module Fault.” When this occurs, the trailer’s right rear brake light stops functioning, and at times the trailer braking system stops working entirely. This issue occurs sporadically and without warning. The trailer may function normally at the start of a trip and then lose lighting or braking capability during operation. One notable pattern is that when I shut the truck off and restart it, the faults clear and the trailer brakes and lights begin working again. This suggests the issue may be related to the truck’s trailer brake or trailer lighting control module resetting rather than a defect in the trailer itself. Because of the repeated failures, I inspected and repaired my trailer multiple times. I have: Replaced the affected trailer light Inspected and checked all trailer wiring and connectors Verified the trailer braking system and wiring integrity Despite these steps, the problem continues to occur. I have taken the truck to a Ford dealership multiple times, and they have stated the issue is with the trailer. However, the trailer has been inspected and repaired, and the problem still persists. I recently became aware of a recall affecting Ford trucks related to the trailer brake control module and trailer lighting system, which appears to mirror the exact symptoms I am experiencing. This issue presents a serious safety hazard. When the malfunction occurs: Trailer brake lights may not function properly Trailer brakes may stop working Drivers behind me may not be aware the vehicle is slowing or stopping Because I regularly tow heavy trailers, loss of trailer braking and lighting creates a significant

The 10 speed transmission is this truck shifts horribly. It will stall in intersections as it works its way thru 3 or 4 gears shifting away while refusing to move faster than a crawl. It has occasionally jerked harshly into 2nd gear at ONE(1) mile per hour. When you are coasting towards a traffic light it will jerk violently downshifting from 4th to 3rd. That downshift feels like the rear brakes are dragging. All of these behaviors occur at any point in city driving, making it risky to make a left turn in traffic and making passengers uncomfortable when riding, at any time they can be jerked any which way while riding in the truck. To make matters worse, the traffic warning lights on the mirrors will lite and alert occasionally when there is no traffic anywhere near the truck. This has happened on remote roads where there are no other vehicles, plants, shrubs or signs anywhere near the roadway. This truck is uncomfortable to drive and feels unsafe. I believe it is all related to the poorly made and engineered transmission.

Ford Panoramic Sunroof P/N: ml3z-16500a18-c Spontaneously shattered while driving. No foreign object came in contact with the glass. No harsh or unique road conditions during event. No occupants of the vehicle came in contact with glass prior to shattering. The sunroof operation itself, or components adjacent to the sunroof, (e.g. the sunroof shade cover) were not in use during the failure. The glass shattered outwards away form the vehicle causing most of the glass to land in the truck bed, rough a third rained down inside the vehicle onto the occupants. The safety hazard is that glass shards fell down on occupants at enhanced by road speed. There was no way to avoid the shattering. There was no previous indication of wear of stress on the glass in previous weeks or moments prior to the explosion. There was a known class action lawsuit (dismissed) concerning the Ford Panoramic sunroofs spontaneously failing. Beaty v. Ford Motor Company. No official has inspected the vehicle since the failure. An insurance claim was not filed, it was cheaper to perform the repair myself. The repair cost ~$770 in parts ~$120 in shipping fees, 2 hours of labor to clean glass and 30 minutes to install the new panel.

The vehicle part ML3Z-16500A18-E, or rear panoramic sunroof panel, spontaneously shattered while the vehicle was parked and turned off. I was not driving, and nothing impacted the vehicle. There were no signs of attempted break-in, falling debris, or vandalism, and there was no object inside or around the vehicle that could have caused the breakage. With this being tempered glass, it fragmented violently. This sudden failure created a significant safety hazard, as shattered glass covered the interior. If occupants had been inside, this could have caused serious injury from falling glass. If this unexpected failure occurred while the vehicle was in motion or at speed, it could result in distraction, loss of control, and/or a potential collision. The dealer had inspected the vehicle in person and was unable to determine the reason for the failure. The manufacturer has been contacted, but they do not accept responsibility and have not provided a cause for the failure. The issue has not been reproduced, but spontaneous panoramic sunroof glass failure appears to be a known concern on other Ford models. The vehicle had no warning messages, noises, cracking, leaks, or other symptoms prior to the failure. There were no safety alerts or warnings on the dash. The sunroof glass failed without any prior indication.

I purchased this 2024 f350 from Auto Park Ford in Laporte, IN on [XXX] with 94 miles on the truck. It was shipped directly to me and arrived July 21st 2025. Upon taking delivery there were many safety faults present once I drove the vehicle that included loss of power, the vehicle randomly braking by itself, adaptive cruise control faults, cross traffic faults, blind spot warning faults, forward collision faults, rear cross traffic faults, rusty engine components as well as other rusty components on the vehicle. These safety defects in manufacturing materials, workmanship, improper storage by the selling dealer, and selling of a defective vehicle to me has put myself and my family in an unsafe vehicle. The vehicle has been at the local Ford service center since July 22nd 2025 with the service department stating there is no fix for these issues and is a known issue by Ford. My safety and my family's safety has been put at risk by the vehicle's loss of power, random braking applications, and rusty engine components. These issues were confirmed by Pierre Ford of Lynnwood service department. The repair report states "VERIFIED WARNING FAULTS PRESENT. SELF TEST NUMEROUS DTC'S PRESENT IN ABS MOD. C0051 PPT Q Q1 YES, Q2 NO YO23A FOUND SSM 53892 STIIDING THIS IS A KNOW ISSUE WITH NO FIX CURRENTLY. UPDATED ABS MODULE AND AWD MODULE ROAD TESTED DTC'S CAME BACK". the service center informed me that I could come pick up the truck and there may be a fix in the future. I asked them to keep the truck as it's a major safety concern for myself and my family to operate this truck with all the safety faults, loss of power, random braking, etc. The vehicle will have been at the dealer 21 days by Monday 8/11/25. I have contacted Ford about this issue and requested a buyback, vehicle replacement, a fix, and have gotten no where. I have submitted a lemon law buy back claim because of the many safety issues, but they have put my claim on pause for an addition 30 days. Steering Wheel Misalignment, 2024 Ford F-350 Platinum (VIN: [XXX] ) I am submitting a safety-related defect complaint involving a visibly off-center steering wheel in my 2024 Ford F-350 Platinum. The steering wheel remains misaligned to the left when the vehicle is traveling straight, impacting driver perception, confidence, and potentially overall safety. In January 2025, the dealership performed a front-end alignment in response to my concern, acknowledging it as a deviation from acceptable standards. However, when the issue persisted, Ford reversed course and claimed the off-center wheel was an intentional design feature called “Clear Vision,” supposedly meant to improve gauge visibility and compensate for road crown. This “feature” is not documented in any Ford manuals, bulletins, training, or consumer-facing materials. Ford’s April 2025 written response to BBB Autoline leaned on this “Clear Vision” claim, but during a May 2025 arbitration hearing, Ford’s representative admitted a repair was attempted to address the issue. These contradictory statements raise questions about Ford’s transparency and accountability. There is no engineering justification for a visibly misaligned steering wheel to be presented as a feature, especially in a $95,000 vehicle. I urge NHTSA to investigate whether Ford is misusing this terminology to conceal defects in its 2024 Super Duty platform, and whether this violates federal safety or design standards.
