2000 Ford F Super Duty Problems

Owner-reported complaints filed with NHTSA, grouped by component

Data refreshed

Owner complaintsComplaints are reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a complaint does not establish that a defect exists. Volume is influenced by how many of a vehicle were sold, how long it has been on the road, and how much attention an issue has received.

What this page shows

Everything below is an owner-reported complaint submitted to NHTSA about the 2000 Ford F Super Duty, grouped by the component NHTSA recorded on the report. These are not confirmed defects, and they are not recalls. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a category with more reports in it is not evidence that a part is defective.

Complaints are reports submitted by owners and drivers to NHTSA. They are not verified and do not establish that a defect exists.

TRAVELLING ALONG ALCAN HIGHWAY IN REMOTE CANADA. WE HAD TREAD SEPERATION BLOWOUT ON THE DRIVER SIDE FRONT THAT DAMAGED THE F350 DUALLY. TIRE SIZE WAS 285/75/16 WITH AROUND 20,000 MILES ON THEM. I HAVE FOUND ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS THAT IF YOU HIT YOUR BRAKES TO AVOID SOMETHING AT SPEEDS UNDER 40 MPH YOU CANNOT STEER AT THE SAME TIME! YESTERDAY I ALMOST RAN OVER A SEA WALL INTO THE OCEAN WHEN I WAS BRAKING IN A 45 DEGREE CORNER AND TRIED TO STEER AROUND IT. THIS HAS HAPPENED OTHER TIME WHILE TRYING TO AVOID OTHER AUTOS, ANIMALS ECT. BUT NEVER THIS BAD. I HAVE SINCE DRIVEN 2 OTHER TRUCKS OF THE SAME BODY STYLE IN OUR CAMPGROUND AND THEY EXIBIT THE SAME PROBLEMS.*AK

FAILURE OF FRONT WHEEL BEARING AT 60,000 MILES. *TR

NHTSA ID 10215888 · filed Jan 24, 2008

2000 F-250 4X4 FRONT HUB: I HAD TO CHANGE BOTH FRONT HUBS ON MY 2000 4X4 F-250 WITH ONLY 62,790 MILES AND THE BEARING LOCKED-UP ON ONE SIDE AND THE OTHER WAS LOOSE. IT COST ME $ 1,225.00 TO REPLACE THE HUBS AND SEALS, EACH HUB COST 408.00 AND EACH SEAL COST 38.00 FROM FORD. I TALKED TO 2 OTHER PEOPLE WITH A FORD 4X4 AND THAY HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. I THINK FORD SHOULD PAY FOR THE COST BECAUSE IT HAS ONLY 62,790 MILES ON MY TRUCK AND THE OTHER PEOPLE ,ONE HAD 46,000 MILES AND THE OTHER HAD 74,000 MILES . THE BEARING COULD BE CHANGED @ AROUND 40.00 TO 60.00 BUT FORD HAS ON THE BEARINGRETANER NUT PART DO NOT REMOVE. TO ME I THINK FORD JUST WANT TO MAKE MORE MONEY ON THE WHOLE HUB WITH THE BEARINGS . PS ALSO GLAD I WASN'T GOING TO FAST WHEN IT LOCKED UP

I HAVE A 2000 FORD F350 DWD 4X4 AND HAVE HAD BOTH FRONT STOCK ALUMINUM WHEELS DEVELOP LARGE CRACKS AND DEEMED UNSAFE. MY WIFE CONTACTED FORD TO INQUIRE IF THERE WAS A RECALL, AND THE ANSWER WAS NO, SHE TOOK IT TO FORD, AND THEY LOOKED AT THE TRUCK, AND DID NOTHING ELSE. FURTHERMORE, THEY DID NOT WANT TO DISCUSS THE ISSUE AND TOLD HER THERE WAS NOTHING THAT WOULD COME OF IT. THERE WILL BE ACCIDENTS AND PERHAPS DEATHS FROM THE RIMS BEING DEFECTIVE. I HAVE TALKED TO EVERYONE I COULD FIND DRIVING THE SAME VEHICLE, AND ALL HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEMS EXACTLY. THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL ON THESE WHEELS.THIS STATEMENT MAKES THE NHTSA LIABLE SHOULD THERE BE NO ACTION ON THEIR PART AND THERE BE ANY ACCIDENTS WITH DEATHS. *TR

NEWSPAPER, AUGUST 2007, IDENTIFIED MY VEHICLE WAS SUBJECT TO RECALL. CONTACTED FORD TO VERIFY RECALL. FORD VERIFIED BUT REFUSED TO ISSUE LETTER. FINALLY GOT A LETTER DATED SEPTEMBER 2007. FORD IDENTIFIED TWO DEALERS FOR MY AREA. ONE SUNLAND FORD STATED THEY NEVER KNEW WHEN PARTS WOULD BE AVAILABLE AND MADE NO EFFORT TO SCHEDULE A REPAIR. SECOND DEALER SAID HE WOULD CALL WHEN HE HAD PARTS. NO CALLS. RECEIVED NEW LETTER FROM FORD 26 OCTOBER 2007. CALLED SECOND DEALER TO SCHEDULE REPAIR 29 OCTOBER 2007. DEALER SAID NO PARTS WERE EXPECTED UNTIL AFTER 1 DECEMBER 2007. I HAD THIS SAME EXPERIENCE ON A 2001 NAVIGATOR BEGINNING 2002 AND NEVER WAS ABLE TO HAVE THE REPAIR MADE. I ENDED UP DISPOSING THE VEHICLE. I DO NOT PLAN TO CHASE AFTER FORD ANY MORE. *TR
