Owner-reported complaints naming the powertrain system, filed with NHTSA
Data refreshed
Powertrain reports that are not specifically the engine or transmission — driveshafts, axles, transfer cases and differentials. Every record below is an owner-reported complaint about the 2022 Ford Maverick Hybrid submitted to NHTSA — not a confirmed defect, not a recall and not a manufacturer bulletin. 138 reports on file name it.
Complaints are reports submitted by owners and drivers to NHTSA. They are not verified and do not establish that a defect exists.

Engine long block assembly needed replacement. TPMS continues to fail. Axles make vehicle shake when going freeway speeds.
I have already had the cv axles replaced under the extended customer satisfaction program in January 2026, but today while doing a cross country move, the outer boot on the drivers side showed significant grease loss, and the inner boot on the passenger side tore off with a very severe clunk, noise, and shake while braking and accelerating. Thankfully the cv axle did not separate, but a failure could have resulted in a loss of control. This will be going to the dealership tomorrow. No warning lights, messages, or symptoms that I could observe before the 1000 mile trip across yesterday and today.
My 2022 Ford Maverick Hybrid has twice suddenly entered limp mode and experienced a substantial loss of power. The first incident occurred on or about XXX. After leaving my subdivision, I turned onto [XXX], which has a posted speed limit of 55 mph. The vehicle immediately lost power and entered limp mode, and the engine and wrench warning lights appeared. The weather was clear and sunny. I was able to drive several miles at substantially reduced power and return home. On XXX, at 83,600 miles, Louisburg Ford retrieved DTC P1061, determined that Ford TSB 25-2454 applied, and reprogrammed the required modules. The second incident occurred on 9/13/2026. My husband and I were returning home after traveling through [XXX], [XXX], and [XXX]. We were driving northbound on I-35 near mile marker 182 at the [XXX] exit, just south of [XXX]. It was completely dark and storming, with rain and lightning, when the vehicle again entered limp mode and lost power in highway traffic. We were fortunate to have cellular service and a gas station nearby. Otherwise, we could have been stranded in dangerous conditions. On XXX, at 106,338 miles, the same dealer retrieved the same P1061 code and again applied TSB 25-2454 by reprogramming the PCM. The same loss-of-power condition, code, and Ford-prescribed repair recurred within approximately 11 months and 22,738 miles. The dealer advised that there is no guarantee it will not happen again. I am concerned that this sudden loss of acceleration or motive power could recur at highway speed and cause a crash. I request that NHTSA investigate this recurring condition and whether TSB [XXX] provides an adequate remedy. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
What component or system failed, and is it available for inspection? The right frame engine mount, differential/rear mount, and upper engine mount were all torn or broken. Both front CV axle shafts also needed replacement. Repaired 8/17/2026 by Miami County Auto, Louisburg, KS (invoice #13092). No, I don't have the parts anymore. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? The vehicle developed a wobble/vibration under acceleration that was reported as "getting worse" — pronounced enough to visibly shake objects in the cabin. The shop noted the engine mounts were torn/broken, allowing excess engine movement, which increases risk of further mount or drivetrain component failure and loss of vehicle control, especially at highway speeds or during hard acceleration. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent shop? Yes — confirmed and repaired by an independent shop (Miami County Auto) on 8/17/2026 at 104,205–104,211 miles. Not taken to a Ford dealer. Has the vehicle been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance, or others? No — only inspected and repaired by the independent repair shop noted above. Were there warning symptoms before failure, and when did they first appear? Yes — a wobble/vibration under acceleration that subsided when off the throttle, and progressively worsened over time before the repair. Originally I thought it was a recently repaired tire that was unbalanced. Took it to Ford dealership to rebalance. They said there was no wobble (there was) and took it the independent shop.
Truck has stalled out multiple times, has been left in middle or road due to electrical drainage of battery. Person needed to get jumper cables to move truck.
My 2022 ford Maverick is constantly sometimes several times a day and sometimes several times a week , but since 6 weeks after purchase I have been getting powertrain fault , engine fault and hybrid battery fault alerts from my ford pass my check engine light comes on my s service wrench light comes on also and my vehicle has reduced power. As well as my battery is constantly needing to be jumped. The dealership says my Battery is fine although I’ve already replaced it twice at my exspence. I’ve had to pay for diagnostics and pcm updates supposedly to fix these problems but no resolve. My vehicle goes into reduced power while driving 75 mph up the interstate and will not excellerate causeing the vehicle to coast to a stop. After sitting a while it can be started and driven. Today I received all three faults at 10:20 am so I went to my ford.com and done a health check and it says my vehicle is healthy with no engine or power train faults. But my ford pass alerts , my dashboard warning lights , and the performance of my vehicle says otherwise. I have been put in many situations on high speed roads and my vehicle will not accelerate. Often times it is necessary to jump my battery for I can move my vehicle. These issues are a constant safety hazard to all the drivers on the road when a vehicle suddenly loses power at high speeds. After 4 years of fighting with ford for a resolve I need help. I have seen numerous recalls issued addressing these very issues but they are not issued for my vin although the data on the recall states the recall pertains to vehicles made at the hermacillo Mexico plant . Which mine was on Dec 2021. I feel like my vin somehow is being overlooked and I’m not recieving the recall for the repairs. I also believe that due to the electrical issue my truck can not retain the obd codes. I have taken my vehicle to several dealerships all telling me different resolve which I pay for and no resolve. Please help
Experienced excessive wobbling/shaking during acceleration. Ford replaced both axles at 38K miles. 30K miles later I am experiencing same issue. Replacing axles this frequent is abnormal and is an indicator that parts being used are not meeting the requirements needed for this vehicle.
As I was traveling on freeway at 65 mph cruise control disengaged. After I was notified to service engine soon and check engine light came on. Throttle was unresponsive forcing me to cross 4 lanes of the 5 freeway. Pulled over and shut off vehicle checked fluids. Nothing out of spec.restarted vehicle and would not get out of limp mode.
CV axle is going bad and the car would shake really bad when on the highway and felt unsafe to drive going 65 MPH was scary with a rattle and car could nat stay in lane
The contact owns a 2022 Ford Maverick. The contact stated that while making a right turn, the vehicle stalled and failed to restart. The contact was able to coast into the turning lane. The vehicle was towed to the dealer; however, no cause for the failure was found. The vehicle remained at the dealer unrepaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V267000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, POWER TRAIN). The failure mileage was approximately 77,000.
The axle on the Ford Maverick are suffering premature wear causing the vehicle to shake when accelerating. Ford dealer was able to reproduce the issue and blamed it on a unbalanced axle shaft. The vehicle was not safe to drive with an unbalanced axle shaft
When I accelerate the vehicle shakes violently making it difficult to control.
Both right and left cv axle joints had a rough spot in the bearing. Both had to be replaced in November 2023. Now (August 2025), the same issue is happening again. Current mileage as of 8/24/25 is 35,844. Calling dealer to schedule repair first thing Monday morning.
Both Front CV Axles failed at the connection point to the transmission. Causing the vehicle and steering wheel to shake while accelerating at 45-65 MPH. The manufacturer's dealer replaced both front CV axles under warranty, as per the 5-year/60,000-mile powertrain coverage.
The CV axle (driver's side) started to fail before 22,000 miles on my 2022 Ford Maverick. When accelerating the vehicle would violently shake back and forth. The tires are starting to wear early due to the constant movement. If the CV axle was to break I would lose power and it could damage nearby components (brakes, brake lines, cooling lines). I would be stranded on the side of the road. I did not drive it until I could get to the dealer for a repair. The dealer was very aware of the problem. There were no warning, MIL, or any indication the part was failing. The problem is quite evident on line as most of these parts start to fail before 30,000 miles.0
Car shakes around 50 mph. Took truck to my mechanic and they said it was the front differentials. They told me that there was a tecall for this issue.
CV Joint failing. Vehicle wobbles during acceleration between 55-65 MPH. Began around 55,000 miles - was very minor at first and believed to be tire related. Now, at roughly 67,000 miles the wobble is very prominent.
CV axles on front wheels defective resulting in shaking which is felt in the cabin while accelerating. If the CV axle were to fail completely could result in loss of control of the vehicle. The issue has been confirmed by the service department at the Ford dealership and is currently getting the work done to have the axles replaced. This is the second time that the CV axles have failed in this truck. The truck is 3 years old and has 65,000 mi on it. I previously had the CV axles replaced in May of 2024 The issue is not accompanied by any warning, lamps or trouble indicators. There's only a noticeable roughness or shaking inside the cabin while accelerating. I feel that Ford replaces the faulty CV axles with the same defective part and 12-15 months down the road I have to deal with replacing them again.
The contact owns a 2022 Ford Maverick. The contact stated that the rotary gear shifter was stuck in park(P). The contact had to wait for over 15 minutes for the rotary gear shifter to move. The vehicle was taken to the dealer; however, no cause for the failure was found. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that recently the rotary gear shifter moved independently when touched by the arm. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired for the most recent failure. The contact stated that the failure persisted. In addition, while using the USB plug, there were several unknown messages displayed on the screen. The contact stated that after a while, the radio turned off independently. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 9,000.
This issue has been going on for a few months now and is getting worse. When accelerating, usually around the 50 - 60 MPH range, the vehicle begins to shake pretty violently. We had tires balanced and the front end aligned. No change. Mechanic feels like it an axle or CV boot issue.
The front cv axels prematurely wore out causing wobble while accelerating. The dealer refused to repair this under warranty. This is a safety issue. This is a design defect.
Vehicle lost all power while driving. This was due to a failure of the hybrid system. Created a dangerous situation as vehicle started coasting without power in neutral.
I have a 2022 ford maverick pickup truck and have a vibration in steeling wheel at acceleration so I took it to a very reapable tire ,brake and suspension dealer who checked the brakes, tires, balance, steering joints etc and found nothing wrong and said he had no clue what it could be and no Ford Recall issued but web sites show other customers with same problem and dealers are not wanting to completely check out because of no Recall please help us!!!
Both axles failed under 90,000 miles and just over three years old.
- significant front-end vibration under acceleration from 45-65 MPH - dealer diagnosed problem to faulty front axle shafts; both were replaced - no warning indicators, lamps, or messages
Higher-selling and older vehicles accumulate more reports. Counts are not failure rates and are not directly comparable between vehicles that sold in very different numbers.
